News: The Sip & Savor pass is back this year for the Food & Wine Festival, so how can you get the best value? This year, you can't lose! To get the most out of the pass, which is $63, or $58 for Key Holders, you need each item to be over $7.75 (or $7.25 for Key Holders). Most of the items are above this threshold. Some of the non-alcoholic drinks and desserts are closer to the break even point, so look out for those. Another tip – order at one booth and take the receipt to the other booths for redemption. – https://www.micechat.com/381303-make-the-most-of-your-sip-savor-pass-at-california-adventure-food-wine-festival/ Sip & Savor pass purchasers should be sure to get the free picnic plate that comes with the pass. The plate is blue, and shaped like Mickey, with park icons printed on it. When we got our pass, this was not available, but it was the next day. – https://www.micechat.com/410123-disneyland-update-crowd-crush-festival-feasts-disneyland-delays/ This year there is a lot of good Food and Wine Fest merchandise! From a Mickey Ear headband, to kitchenware, to toys and bags, there is something for everyone. – https://wdwnt.com/2025/02/new-2025-disney-california-adventure-food-wine-festival-merchandise-includes-mickey-ear-headband-spirit-jersey-and-more/ Railroad fans should be very happy about this story – the Disneyland Railroad Tour is returning. Starting March 21st, guests will be able to take this tour again, which is 90 minutes, and includes a ride inside the Lilly Belle. The Lilly Belle is the last train car from Disneyland's opening day and was decorated by Lillian Disney herself. The tour also includes a treat, a tour of the roundhouse back stage, a meet and greet with a train engineer, and a special keepsake. The tour is $145 per person, with reservations open now. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/02/28/a-fan-favorite-tour-is-returning-soon-at-disneyland-resort/ The signaling building that caught fire back in 2022 at the New Orleans Square station has finally been removed. There are still walls up around the former location, but the building is gone. In other train news, the trains have been cycling around the replaced track and should be opening any time now. – https://www.micechat.com/410123-disneyland-update-crowd-crush-festival-feasts-disneyland-delays/ Indiana Jones just had it's 30th anniversary, and Club 33 is celebrating! In 2010, Radio Host Adam Montiel combined his longtime love for broadcasting with his, then, new love for wine. He created and produced, ‘The Cork Dorks'. The show was hosted with Adam and his good friend Jeremy. It was the first of its kind. It began focusing on central coast wineries but as the show grew, so did their ability to travel and meet other winemakers they found everywhere from Napa to Bordeaux that adopted that same Central Coast quality of people willing to share their wines, and their stories. As the area grew, soon Adam's interview's covered everything from spirits, craft beer, cider, cuisine, hospitality, and more. Fast forward to today, the spirit and enthusiasm cultivated with the award winning show, is reborn as The Pour with Adam Montiel, this time independently, and unfettered by corporate authority leaving it even more free to share the journey of making wine more approachable and fun for everyone.  Here, We Taste It. We Spill It. We Leave it All On the Table. This is ‘The Pour' with Adam Montiel.__________Sincere Thanks to those who support The Pour. Please take a moment and visit them and thank them for supporting local broadcasting, and valuing what we do here. I've had the distinct pleasure to host and produce Tasting Room Radio for 17 years. Most weeks we consider featuring some of those stories on the podcast but music, arts and music history seem to carry the day. These two interviews deserve to be featured because they tell the story of the current state of the BC wine industry. The Okanagan has been burned by summer fires and choked by summer smoke, blocked by road closures at the peak of the summer season, deep frozen by two successive winters and disappointingly shunned by liquor governing bodies in Alberta. All the while the BC wine industry is making better and better wines. So it all feels like three steps forward and two back Kimberly Hundertmark, the GM of Okanagan Wine Festivals brings great news. Right now, they are kicking off the Spring Wine Festival all over the Okanagan Valley. It's an amazing collection of events. Huge gatherings like 2024 BC Top 50 and the Wine of the Year. The TASTE series, carefully curated in locations North and South, the Naramata Bench this Sunday, June 2 and the District Wine Village in Oliver Sat-Sun June 8/9 and Saturday, June 8th at the Summer Sips at Spirit Ridge Osoyoos. Kimberly brings all the news and tips for making plans.   The complete list of events can be found at  www.thewinefestivals.com     John Skinner is the co-owner/co-founder of Painted Rock Estate Winery, on the Skaha Bench in Okanagan Falls. If you go to their website www.paintedrock.ca have a look at the wines and also the awards those wines have won over the years. Pages and pages of awards and outstanding reviews. John's comments about his wines and two new releases – Rose and Chardonnay can be found on Tasting Room Radio. www.tastingroomradio.com These comments by John are about the state of the BC wine industry – the good and not-so-good. Above all, it's John's belief in BC Wine. He shows leadership and well-thought-out decision-making. If you're interested in supporting the BC wine industry – and I truly hope you are – then John brings clarity and commitment to all of us. John Skinner reminds us that most of these wineries are owned by small farming families. “support the little wineries first. Find your favourites and support them when you can”
