Today's witnesses are from Matthew West's website, called popwe.org. If you don't know who Matthew West is, he is a singer, songwriter, and storyteller. This website is for the non-profit that he has with his father, a pastor. Matthew and his father encourage people to share their stories. They have various categories of stories. Today, I chose two testimonies from the Marriage/Family Category. Satan is attacking our families, and I think it can help us to see that God is looking out for us. Satan wants to destroy families, but God wants to preserve them. Often, we can hear our own story in someone else's story. When we listen to others tell their story, it helps us see that we are not alone. When we hear how God worked in their situation, it gives us hope that He will work in ours, too! I pray that when you hear these testimonies, you get the faith and hope to believe that miracles can happen in your situation, also. I pray you know that God wants to be there with you, and if you invite Him into your family issues, He can help.Zachary: 2016 started out as one of the most exciting years for me and my wife, Amanda. We were living in Calcutta, India; working at Calcutta School of Music and starting our own company to support local artists and musicians in the city. Amanda was expecting our first baby, Chloe West Ray, and she was due to arrive at the beginning of December. Amanda was in her third trimester when she became very sick one night. We admitted her into the hospital in Calcutta, India on a Monday night. Tuesday morning Amanda was feeling better and Chloe seemed to be doing ok too. Wednesday morning, before we were about to leave the hospital, we went in for one more ultra sound. I can still hear the doctor say, “We can't find a heart beat” as if it was today. We found ourselves sitting in that hospital room broken and confused, with no idea of what the next steps would be.There were very few words of comfort that helped. Although people were praying and offering their words of comfort, it felt like a season of being abandoned by God. The dreams of holding our little girl were stolen and shattered. Grief is a funny thing. The initial sting and pain becomes dull over time, but the memories and dull ache continues. I don't think our hearts are created for this world to overcome “grief” from tragedies or loss of loved ones; it becomes a part of our story, our life. We become a different person. The beautiful thing is that God stays the same and meets us where we are. I can honestly say God tangibly became my refuge in one of the darkest times in my life. He brought a healing into my soul like no earthly person could. We may never be the way we were before, but He shapes us into a new and often stronger person. I don't think we get over grief until we leave this world. We found out the following year that we were expecting another baby. Due to the loss of Chloe, it was difficult to not allow our fear and worry to overwhelm our joy. We simultaneously jumped for joy, and breathed a sigh of relief when our son was born. Karina: When I think of my story, I think of pain, grief, overwhelming sadness, hurt, and betrayal. Then I think of hope, redemption, love, grace, miracles, and my salvation in Jesus.Five years ago, my entire world turned upside down. I experienced betrayal in my marriage after 12 years. I was in so much pain. My life seemed to have been one episode after the next of unfortunate events.I was so broken and so alone. I was in severe depression and taking depression and anxiety meds and using alcohol with it. I was doing anything I could to dull the pain I was in.I'm so thankful that God loved me so much that He pursued me in ways I'd never experienced before. I was blessed to become a part of a church. At a time when I was deeply hurting, I was shown the love of Christ over and over again. My pastor would say during his messages (and he still does) that I MATTERED to GOD. Honestly, I didn't even know that I did. God never left my side and He revealed Himself and His love to me. I had never known love like this before and he poured it out on me in waves and waves. He walked with me through the trials and the storms and he saved me and restored me. Then God led me to become a part of a women's group that has encouraged me, prayed with me and laughed with me. These women have become my sisters. We've shared a bond stronger than any blood relationship I've ever had. Words can't describe the love in my heart that I have for each of them. God has healed me in ways I couldn't see possible five years ago or even three years ago. He resurrected my dead marriage which is a miracle in a way because there was no way I could see this being restored or if reconciliation was even an option. That's the God I serve. He is full of compassion, LOVE, mercy, and GRACE… He pursues us even when we turn our backs on Him. He loved me even when I didn't love myself; He showed me I was His, that I was never forsaken; that I was chosen, a daughter of the One True King. He healed my heart, renewed my mind and made me brand new! The only way I can end this is by saying “Thank You, JESUS” ❤️Thank you all so much for sharing your stories. I pray you continue to rely on the Lord and that He continues to bless your families. I know it can be hard to share your story with the world, and yet when you do, it helps others see God working in their life as well. Welcome to the Love Where You Are podcast! Today I am joined by Andrea Herzer. Andrea is the author of Incurable Faith: 120 Devotions of Lasting Hope for Lingering Health Issues. She is intimately acquainted with the hardships that accompany debilitating health issues. She has spent the last 20 years with multiple illnesses, including complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Navigating life while undergoing infusions, chemotherapy, more than 100 medical procedures, and all the complications in between has given her deep compassion for those who also suffer. In this episode, Andrea and I navigate the grueling challenge of how to love where you are when you enter a season of physical pain and suffering. We dive deep to face the questions that rise about our faith, knowing God's love for us despite health struggles and how to maintain and even grow in your faith through it all. We also talk about what we can do when someone we love is suffering, how to best serve them and how it can actually change us in the process. Andrea also gives practical advice to those who are walking in pain right now and how to live an abundant life in Jesus… Thank you for being here today. Now, let's dive into the conversation! You can connect with Andrea through Instagram and you can buy her book! FAVORITE TAKE-AWAYS: -What exactly is an "abundant life"? Is it the work we do, the activities we enjoy, our bucket lists? Or is it the spiritual abundance we receieve from Christ, meaning in our bodily brokenness we can enjoy an abundant life? -Some people think health challenges are a barometer of God's love for us and if we only had more faith then we would be cured; in other words, they might think not being healed shows a lack of faith. These ideas of health and faith are not Biblical. -Job's friends were not helpful or comforting but they did try to do the right thing. It is easy to have good intentions and still do the wrong thing. When we see someone hurting, the best thing to do is ask that friend what they need from us. REMEMBER: -Jesus was wounded, hurt, and had horrible things said and done to Him. He knows our suffering. -When people are being hurtful towards us, we can release those things to Jesus through forgiveness. -When we are suffering, we need to not make it difficult for others to help. We can feel ashamed to receive help but we need to accept it and sometimes the people who want to help us benefit from being our caregiver more than we realize. Connect with Somer! What are you thankful for today? It can be the breath in your lungs, the people around you, or an amazing opportunity standing in front of you. Whatever it is, there is always something you can be grateful for. Today's conversation is about one of Candace's favorite songs on Katy Nichole's album – “Jesus, Thank You.” It is an anthem of gratefulness to Jesus. If there are two things that can shift your mindset, it is gratitude and worship; and this song encompasses both of those things. This episode looks at Luke 2:21, “And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.” Jesus's name means “one who saves,” and he certainly lives up to that name. He lives perfectly under the law (signified by circumcision), so that he might redeem us from the law. Praise God!
This episode looks at Psalm 11:6, “Let him rain coals on the wicked; fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.” We can rightly plea to God to judge wickedness. As we do so, we should remember with gratefulness that Christ took our cup of judgment and drank it to the dregs for us.
This episode looks at Luke 2:7, “And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.” We can rejoice again at the humility of the Son of God to condescend to human form for us. We can rejoice along with the animals in the stable at the strength, patience, and innocence this gift of gifts brings to us.
This episode looks at Jonah 1:15, “So they picked up Jonah and hurled him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging.” Jonah willingly goes to his death for his own sins, thus saving the sailors. Christ willingly goes to his death for not his own sins but for ours, thus saving all who have faith in him. Jesus, thank you for the cross!
This episode looks at Jonah 1:12, “He said to them, “Pick me up and hurl me into the sea; then the sea will quiet down for you, qfor I know it is because of me that this great tempest has come upon you.” Jonah knows that he deserves judgment for his rebellion. Christ came and died for us when we were the rebels and he was sinless. Praise Jesus!
The cross of Christ is an eternal source of gratitude for all who are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.

It easy to think that faith in Jesus is one of the better choices we’ve made in life. But that idea is put to rest with the words that Jesus spoke to Peter when He asked them, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?” Peter's response and Jesus' reply remind us that it's something even better and much more comforting.
This episode takes a look at Psalm 2:9, “You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.” Jesus judges justly against sin and evil, but for those who are found in Christ through faith the rod becomes a comfort.
Proverbs 14:2 Whoever walks in uprightness fears the Lord, but he who is devious in his ways despises him. 3 By the mouth of a fool comes a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise will preserve them. Today's passage talks about walking and talking and overall ways of people. Solomon speaks of one who walks in uprightness. Now, I know that means being holy and righteous… loving our neighbor as ourselves and God supremely… However in my mind I see this picture of a man standing upright along side of a man crawling on all fours like an animal. I think there might be a correlation between this picture of a man crawling on all fours… debase, feeding the desires of the flesh, following after his senses… not contemplating his life and purpose… one with a degraded sense of morality who has a corrupted discernment between right and wrong… no capacity for love… the kind that shares experiences, goals, dreams, hopes or aspirations. This man is not walking upright and does not fear the Lord but despises him and rejects the purposes God had for man in creating him. On the other hand, the one who is walking upright as a man the way God created… made in his image… is able to worship and fellowship with God… and not because of his own uprightness, but because of the righteousness of Gods Son who walked upright and lived a perfect life that he might impute his righteousness to all who delight in him… Yes God has created in him a new heart… one that has a desire to walk in uprightness in the image of God, mirroring his character. And of course, he still sins but now his new heart turns back to the Lord in repentance and grows in his practical uprightness from day to day. Finally Solomon says: 3 By the mouth of a fool comes a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise will preserve them. The truth is that our actions come out from the type of heart we have… one that walks and talks from the perspective of the flesh broken by sin or one that is motivated by the Spirit of God. Justice comes to both. The analogy here indicates that the fool will receive a rod to his back and the upright heart will be preserved. Look, God created man in his image not only for his glory but for our good. He created us in a fashion so that we would have great joy in seeing his glory in Jesus and walking in his ways. Jesus is good news for those who do not walk upright. He calls you to look to him in faith… in delight… He will give you a new heart that will have victory over sin as you walk with him. Father God, thank you for sending your only Son to live a perfect life, then to die for unperfected people. Thank you for giving all who look to you with faith a new heart with the righteousness of Jesus… Thank you for raising Jesus from the grave incorruptible and giving us a new heart that can have victory over sin in this broken world with that same power that raised your Son up… And thank you that you will raise us up one day incorruptible no longer subjects to sin, pain, depression, sickness, disease, hate or death… forever with You, In Jesus name amen.

“The Saviour King” Looking to Jesus for the Fulfillment of All Our Hopes What are your hopes? If all your hopes were fulfilled, would you be happy? Let's be honest: we've experienced fulfilled hopes only to find the happiness to wear off, even disappoint. The gospel provocatively asserts that Jesus is the one hope and fulfillment of our hopes that does not expire or disappoint. Join us Sundays 10:30 am as we learn from Matthew's gospel about how Jesus is the fulfillment of all our hopes.
Matthew 28: 19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." In this sermon, we are asked and challenged with two questions: 1. Are we following Jesus? 2. Are we inviting people to follow us as we follow Jesus? Thank you for listening to this podcast. "Love, Forgiveness, & Restoration" Sunday Sermon 7/10/2016 Pastor David L. Goldsberry Note: Unfortunately, the AV tech (that’s me!) didn’t start recording at the beginning. Forgiveness requested. Thank you. Pastor reviewed some of the events in the preceding chapters of John leading up to John 21:1-11. We heard about the disciples and their catch of 153 LARGE fish when they cast their nets on the other side of the boat at Jesus’ direction. That brings us to the primary text for the message; John 21:12-17. We join Pastor as he has stated that “we cannot love Jesus by proxy”. The question: Do I love Jesus? Thank you for listening. We hope you are blessed. You are welcome here. Come as you are.
