Cancer, autoimmunity, chronic pain — research scientist Ian Mitchell makes the case they're not the genetic life sentences we've been told. Liz and Becca get into carbon 60 and mitochondrial energy, what to do first in an autoimmune flare, the metabolic argument that got him nominated to run the National Cancer Institute, stem cells that cross the blood-brain barrier, and his own spike-protein crash. What happens when a diagnosis deemed "incurable" becomes a story of hope and recovery? In this episode, Dr. Aaron Hartman, triple board-certified physician and founder of Richmond Integrative & Functional Medicine, shares the transformative journey that inspired his book UnCurable: From Hopeless Diagnosis to Defying All Odds. Dr. Hartman's perspective shifted profoundly after adopting his daughter, Anna, who was diagnosed with severe neurological injury and cerebral palsy. Witnessing her unexpected progress led him to embrace functional and precision medicine, integrating diet, lifestyle, and holistic approaches to unlock healing potential that conventional medicine often overlooks. In this conversation, we explore: · The three pillars of functional medicine and how they support true healing. · How nutrition and lifestyle interventions can address chronic and complex conditions. · Strategies for treating conditions that fall outside the boundaries of conventional medicine. · The critical link between gut health, brain health, and overall wellness. If you've ever been told your condition is “incurable” or that your disease will only move in one direction, this episode will help you understand what research actually shows about how the body responds to illness, and why outcomes may be less fixed than they seem.In this episode of Renegade Remission, you'll hear two powerful examples: Dr. Dean Ornish's clinical research demonstrating measurable regression of heart disease under specific lifestyle conditions, and the story of Ann Fonfa, who lived decades beyond an advanced cancer prognosis while pursuing an integrative approach to her health. From there, we zoom out to look at the broader data, including thousands of documented cases of unexpected recovery, and what they reveal about the range of possible outcomes. In this episode, you'll understand: • What “reversal,” “remission,” and “stabilization” actually mean in medical terms • Why disease progression is not always linear or predictable • How inflammation, immune function, and metabolism influence disease behavior • The role of gene expression and environment in shaping outcomes • How to think about your own healing in a way that is both grounded and openListen now to understand what the data really says about healing—and how to approach your own path with clarity, realism, and possibility.DISCLAIMERThis podcast is for educational purposes only and does not offer medical advice. The Person Before Treatment Geoffrey's life before diagnosis: 30 years old, living in New York and Sydney, feeling infallible, driven by professional ambition. And Adam's contrast — a father of two at 45, diagnosed only because he went to a cardiologist after his brother-in-law died. 07:00 – The Diagnosis: Two Very Different Moments Geoffrey's blood clot in the night that saved his life. Adam's cardiologist scan that caught a mass nobody expected. The two very different ways a diagnosis lands — one like a movie, one like a text message. 13:00 – Four Days vs. Six Weeks: The Window Before Treatment Geoffrey had four days between diagnosis and chemotherapy. Adam had six weeks. What that difference does to your mind, your fear, your processing — and why no two cancer stories are the same. 17:00 – The Thing Nobody Tells Young Adults: Fertility The Vanderbilt study that found 50% of young adults diagnosed with cancer are never told about their fertility options before treatment. Geoffrey's sperm banking story. Adam's moment of levity. The organizations that exist to help — and why you should use them. 23:00 – Chemotherapy: The Reality Nobody Films Steroids that make you feel like Batman. Fatigue that puts you to bed at 1 PM. The taste of treatment — Geoffrey's: a burning Nike Air Max. Adam's: Sour Patch Kids and Shrek's condom. The rhythm of treatment cycles and the crash that follows. 30:00 – Hair Loss: The Moment It Hits You Not just the hair on your head — all of it. Geoffrey's Jewish mohawk and the cat photos. Adam's man bun, the shower, the wall of clumps, the hairdresser call. Why the eyebrows and eyelashes are the part nobody prepares you for. 37:00 – Going Out in Public Without Eyebrows Geoffrey at his best friend's wedding, feeling like a freak. Adam at a bar mitzvah two weeks post-treatment, cancer beanie and all. Why "you look great" hits differently when you don't recognize yourself in the photos. 42:00 – Tribes, Villages & Crisis Language Geoffrey's lesson: his tribe was too small — just his wife and the cat. The mistake he'd change. Adam's: an oversharer married to a shield, learning to lean on his guy friends so his wife didn't have to carry everything. What "crisis language as a couple" actually means. 49:00 – Tolerance for Bullshit: The Larry David Effect What cancer does to your patience for other people's bravado. Geoffrey's bar story, running out into Times Square and crashing full speed into Elmo. The anger that's real, and the work it takes not to carry it forever. 55:00 – The Biannual Check-In: A Framework for Purposeful Change A scheduled, structured personal evaluation every six months — professional path, relationships, health, direction. The check-in that led Geoffrey to leave the Wall Street Journal after 21 years. Why you can't make the changes when the warning lights are flashing; you have to make them later, in clarity. 61:00 – Scanxiety: The Incurable Side Effect of Survivorship Geoffrey's scan is next Wednesday. He started thinking about it two weeks ago. The reality that scanxiety doesn't diminish with time — it sometimes gets worse. What helps, what stops helping, and why there's no permanent answer. 66:00 – After Treatment: The Part Nobody Celebrates The financial reality: bill negotiations, illegal anesthesiologist charges, state-specific protections, hospital programs for lower-income patients. Life insurance rejection at 35. Career decisions constrained by healthcare costs. The bills that arrive 18 months later asking "didn't I already pay this?" 73:00 – Ambition After Cancer: Don't Change the Level, Change the Lane The advice from career coach Michelle Woodward: keep the same level of ambition even if you have to find a different lane. Geoffrey's Hong Kong trip — the first time after treatment he felt like himself professionally again. Adam's silver lining of leaning into tech during treatment. 79:00 – Writing It Down: The Value of Documentation Adam's Super Whisper app diary — before and after every treatment session. Geoffrey's 14 years of running away from his cancer story, and what writing the book finally unlocked. Why every survivor should find their version of processing. 85:00 – I'm Alive: Now What? — The Book Geoffrey's nine-chapter guide for survivors — money, career, physical health, mental health, family planning, caregiving, purpose, the business of advice — built around real people's stories paired with expert guidance. Pre-order at after-treatment.com/the-book. 91:00 – Are You Getting the Support You Need? Geoffrey's question for Adam — and for every survivor. The cancer imposter syndrome that comes with a high-survival-rate diagnosis. Why you can't let anyone take away what you went through, and why the work doesn't end at remission. 97:00 – North Stars: What Keeps You Focused Geoffrey's: a willingness to change his North Star — short-term, practical, written down, evaluated regularly. Adam's: being the best example for his kids and leaving the world better than he found it. How cancer changes your definition of success. 104:00 – 500 Episodes: Thank You Adam closes the milestone episode with gratitude — for the guests, the listeners, seven years of consistency, and what comes next. TAKEAWAYS: 1. The Diagnosis Is Never Like the Movies — Except When It Is Geoffrey's came in an ER at 30. Adam's in a text from his cardiologist. No two stories are the same — but both changed everything. 2. 50% of Young Adult Cancer Patients Are Never Told About Fertility Options A Vanderbilt study found half of young adults aren't counseled on fertility preservation before treatment starts. The window is measured in days. Make sure this conversation happens first. 3. The Biannual Check-In Is the Most Powerful Tool for Purposeful Change Twice a year, scheduled, with a workbook: evaluate your path, relationships, and direction — in calm, not crisis. The check-in that led Geoffrey to leave 21 years at the Wall Street Journal. 4. Don't Change the Level of Your Ambition — Change the Lane If cancer takes away what you were world-class at, find another lane at the same level. Don't shrink. Redirect. That's not a lesser life — it's a different one. 5. Your Relationship With Time and Bullshit Changes — But Differently for Everyone Every survivor agrees on two things: time feels different, and their tolerance for bullshit has shifted. Geoffrey went full Larry David. Adam found unexpected clarity. The work is figuring out which version of you emerged. 6. Cancer Exposes Your Crisis Language as a Couple The couples who survive this well learn how to communicate what they need, what not to say, and what to let breathe. It's practiced, not instinctive. 7. Scanxiety Is Real, Incurable, and Changes Over Time What helped before may stop helping. Survivors need to plan for this, not be surprised by it. 8. The Financial Reckoning Comes Long After Treatment Ends Medical bills stay higher forever. Many are negotiable. Some are illegal. Own the advocacy, ask the questions, build the spreadsheet. 9. Write It Down — In Whatever Form Works for You Adam used Super Whisper before and after every treatment. Geoffrey wrote a book 14 years later. The form doesn't matter. Externalizing the experience gives you a time capsule you can go back to. 10. Are You Getting the Support You Need? Just the honest, periodic question. What you went through is not nothing — and the work doesn't end at remission. 11. You Are Different Now — Not Better or Worse. Different. Not better, not worse. Fundamentally changed in ways that can't be fully accounted for. That difference isn't a loss. The work is learning to live in the new timeline.

This episode features Dr Catriona Mayland (University of Sheffield, UK. Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, UK. Palliative Care Unit, University of Liverpool, UK). What is already known on this topic? The disease trajectory for people with incurable head and neck cancer is unpredictable. This cancer subgroup has high healthcare utilisation even in the last months of life. What this paper adds Patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals consistently reported systemic variability in healthcare experiences for those with incurable head and neck cancer. Improving access to symptom relieving medications, helping more with advocacy, and developing ways to improve caregivers' preparedness reflect areas for improvement across the disease trajectory. Information needs change over time, with initial overload, but then complexities relating to advance care planning developing later due to the unpredictable nature of the disease. Implications for practice, theory or policy Solutions include cancer centres adopting more accessible, inclusive means of communication and providing patients and families with reliable contact points for key healthcare professionals. Developing strategies or interventions to improve caregivers' preparedness should incorporate both caregivers and relevant healthcare professionals to ensure the technical aspects of care can be addressed. Join us as we talk to Jonathan Steffanoni.Jonathan's life changed suddenly after severe headaches and light sensitivity led to a scan revealing a 5cm brain lesion. Within 48 hours, Jonathan was undergoing emergency brain surgery. The diagnosis came after the procedure: incurable brain cancer. In this conversation, Jonathan shares the reality of what followed - from the shock of rapid intervention and diagnosis, to navigating ongoing uncertainty as recent scans suggest possible progression. He speaks openly about the cognitive and emotional changes he's experiencing, including shifts in memory, identity, and how he moves through everyday life as a father to a young daughter. At the heart of this episode is a deeply human reflection on acceptance. Jonathan explores what it means to step away from the language of “fighting” cancer, and instead find a sense of peace in acceptance, even in the most confronting circumstances. He also sheds light on the unique challenges of brain cancer. This is a conversation about legacy, identity, and honesty in the face of uncertainty. It invites listeners to sit with discomfort, rethink what strength can look like, and understand that there is no single way to face a cancer diagnosis - only what is true for each individual journey. This week we were honored to interview Ray Scott Percival, a significant but also woefully under-appreciated figure in critical rationalism. Percival has been active in critical rationalist forums, conferences, and academic journals since the 90s and before. He has written for Quillette. He was the editor of a book of critical responses to Steven Pinker. He created an excellent documentary film called Liberty Loves Reason. But most significantly, in 2012 he wrote a book called Myth of the Closed Mind, which is available on Amazon in all the formats, including audio. The basic idea he explores there is that humans care about truth. We are truth seekers that create and pass on both rational and irrational memes. Dawkins calls the worst of these memes “mind viruses,” but what Percival points out is that as flawed as humans are, the good kind of memes have a competitive advantage in the war of ideas. Such a simple idea, but the implications of this are profound, and Percival has spent a lifetime wresting with them.Support us on PatreonMyth of the Closed Mind: https://amzn.to/48xAoDGX: @Ray_S_Percival

In today's episode, we sit down with Dr. Aaron Hartman to discuss his book, UnCurable: From Hopeless Diagnosis to Defying All Odds. As a board-certified physician, clinical researcher, and founder of Richmond Integrative & Functional Medicine, Dr. Hartman's path took a profound turn after adopting his daughter, Anna, who was diagnosed with severe neurological injury and cerebral palsy and labeled "incurable." Her unexpected progress challenged those assumptions and ultimately led him to embrace functional and precision medicine as a new framework for healing. Dr. Hartman was trained in conventional family medicine and earned his MD from the Medical College of Virginia. He also served as a Major in the U.S. Air Force, where he oversaw medical clinics in both the United States and Europe and received additional training in cardiology, dermatology, and nuclear and biological warfare medicine. Throughout his career, Dr. Hartman has participated in more than 70 clinical trials, published research including work in The Lancet, and cared for patients across four continents in more than 100,000 clinical encounters. He is triple board-certified, with advanced credentials in integrative, functional, metabolic, regenerative, and anti-aging medicine, and he previously served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University. Join the conversation to learn more about: The three pillars of healing with functional medicine. The ways that diet can heal disease. How to holistically cure conditions outside the boundaries of conventional medicine. The intersection of gut health and brain health. This episode offers a thoughtful look at the evolving boundaries of modern healthcare, and what it means to rethink a diagnosis once considered final. For anyone who has lived with chronic pain, especially after being told it is “incurable,” the emotional toll can be just as heavy as the physical symptoms. Labels like Fibromyalgia, IBS, migraines, or other misunderstood syndromes, often come with frustration, isolation, and a sense of finality. Yet science continues to show us that the brain and nervous system are far more adaptable than once believed. Steven LaTulippe, MD, has spent over two decades helping his patients rethink what central pain truly is and how inflammation and neural signaling play a role. Understanding pain differently can change outcomes and quality of life. Dr. LaTulippe will teach us how to restore dignity, curiosity, and possibility for those who have been told there are no answers left. Wellness entrepreneur and former Mr. America Dr. Chris Zaino joins me to unpack what happens when your body collapses—and how that crisis can become the catalyst for a completely different life.At 23, Chris had just won Mr. America. Magazine covers. A fitness career taking off. His identity was built on physical strength and appearance. Then he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Autoimmune. Incurable. Terminal. Surgery scheduled. Colon removal likely. No guarantee of surviving the procedure. No guarantee of having children.Within months, he lost 60 pounds and hit public rock bottom. This episode does not sanitize that moment.Chris walks through the humiliation, the fear, the failed treatments, and the turning point when someone challenged the belief that he had “tried everything.” That crack in certainty forced him to confront something deeper: responsibility. We explore the difference between symptomatic intervention and root-cause ownership. We talk about inflammation, food sourcing, nervous system regulation, and why most people wait for a health crisis before changing behavior. We also unpack the psychology of momentum — how improvement doesn't start with positivity, but with small evidence that you're moving in the right direction. The conversation expands beyond illness. We discuss autonomy in modern life. Cooking from scratch. Learning mechanical skills. Understanding what your food eats. Recalibrating internal economics. Choosing long-term capacity over convenience.Chris introduces the idea of “survival value” — structuring your days around actions that increase your long-term strength rather than immediate comfort. This is a candid conversation about health, masculinity, identity, discipline, divorce, financial setbacks, and the reality that ownership is rarely convenient. The lesson isn't anti-medicine or motivational hype. It's this: your health is your first business. And without capacity, nothing else scales.TL;DRHealth crises expose identity fragility.Momentum matters more than positivity. Most people change only when pain forces them. You are what your food eats.Autonomy compounds into resilience.Convenience erodes capability.Survival value is a daily filter for better decisions.Memorable Lines“If you had tried everything, you'd have your health.”“I didn't need perfect — I just needed progress.”“You are what your food eats.”“Once you see it, you can't unsee it.”“Health is your greatest asset.”GuestDr. Chris Zaino — Wellness entrepreneur, speaker, and founder of one of the largest holistic health clinics in the world.Former Mr. America turned performance health authority focused on inflammation, corrective care, and personal responsibility.Instagram: @drzainoWhy This MattersExecutives obsess over revenue dashboards while ignoring their own biomarkers.Founders track burn rate but neglect the biological system carrying the company. In volatile environments, the ultimate edge isn't intensity — it's capacity. If your health collapses, so does your optionality. This episode reframes health not as a lifestyle aesthetic, but as strategic infrastructure.Because rebuilding after the hit isn't only financial. It's physiological. What if chronic illness isn't permanent—and your body is far more adaptable than you've been told? In this powerful episode of Lisa Fischer Said, Lisa sits down with Dr. Aaron Hartman to unpack how epigenetics, nutrition, and personalized medicine are rewriting what we believe about "incurable" diagnoses. Drawing from his daughter's extraordinary healing journey and decades of clinical experience, Dr. Hartman explains why genetics load the gun—but environment pulls the trigger. You'll learn why conventional medicine often overlooks root causes, how inflammation, trauma, and toxin exposure shape long-term health, and why one-size-fits-all treatments fail so many patients. From gut health and glutathione to GLP-1 medications and muscle loss, this conversation bridges functional medicine and real-world clinical wisdom—without dogma. If you've ever been told "this runs in your family," struggled with chronic symptoms, or felt dismissed by the healthcare system, this episode offers clarity, empowerment, and science-backed hope.

Reclaiming Your Life: Healing Chronic Pain and Illness with Lori ClemmonsEpisode Summary:In this transformative episode of Linda's Corner: Inspiration for a Better Life, we welcome Lori Clemmons—compassionate wellness coach, certified clinical trauma specialist, NLP master practitioner, hypnotherapy expert, and survivor of chronic illness. Lori shares her remarkable journey of living with chronic illness and pain for over 27 years, including being bedridden for more than a year and homebound for over two. Despite following every traditional path to healing—from medication to specialized diets—nothing worked… until she approached healing from the inside out.Lori opens up about the emotional and physical toll of chronic illness and how a shift in perspective—slowing down, cultivating joy, and finding peace—transformed her health and life. She teaches that true healing starts when we calm the nervous system and create space for the body to rest and repair. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or hopeless on your health journey, Lori's story offers real hope and practical steps to reclaim your well-being. Learn how mindfulness, self-compassion, nervous system regulation, and small daily choices can ignite powerful healing from within.Key Takeaways:Chronic illness can be linked to an overactive stress response—we can't heal when we're stuck in fight-or-flight.Healing often begins by slowing down and making space for joy, art, stillness, and gratitude. You can experience joy even with symptoms.Nervous system regulation is foundational—start small: one breath, one walk, one kind word to yourself.Positive self-talk and compassionate self-coaching are powerful tools for long-term wellness.Healing is not about doing more—it's about being more present and choosing what nourishes your mind, body, and spirit.Powerful Quotes from Lori Clemmons:“I started trying to find joy in life rather than slogging through and working so hard... and once I made that switch, my symptoms started reducing. Within about 10 months, my symptoms were all gone.”“It wasn't until I could relax the nervous system that my body had the energy to be able to focus on healing. And it was amazing.”“If you have a fire in the kitchen, it's not the time to be making your bed.”“We reclaim moments. And by reclaiming moments, we calm the nervous system and allow the body to heal.”An Invitation to Our Listeners:If you're dealing with chronic illness or pain, we invite you to pause. Reflect. And consider that healing might not be about trying harder, but about softening, listening, and allowing your body to return to safety. As Dr. John Demartini says, “Incurable means curable from within.”Connect with Lori Clemmons:

Send us a textDr. Brandon Crawford is joined by Samuel Shepherd, a former Department of Defense biochemical engineer who used his expertise in weapons development to reverse-engineer a cure for his own "incurable" bone cancer. They deep-dive into the science of oxidative stress, the hierarchy of antioxidants, and the specific molecule that allows animals like naked mole rats and sharks to resist cancer and aging.Samuel recounts his 2003 diagnosis of polycythemia vera, where his blood pressure reached levels that "pegged" medical monitors at 300 mmHg. After years of grueling phlebotomies, Sam used a screening algorithm to find a commonality among cancer-resistant species. That common thread was Astaxanthin. However, he didn't just find a supplement; he discovered a way to modify the molecule into a glucosidic form that bypasses the body's digestive barriers to target disease at the atomic level.Key TakeawaysThe Root of All Evil: 92% of inflammatory disease deaths are driven by the hydroxyl free radical. By neutralizing this specific ROS, you address the cause of disease (the trunk) rather than just the symptoms.Molecular Saponification: By using a glucosidic "Trojan Horse" delivery, astaxanthin enters cancer cells and converts acidic free radicals into alkaline ions, dissolving the cancer cell membrane in seconds. The Antioxidant Cliff: Natural cellular protection (Glutathione, SOD) fails significantly after age 42 W or 50 M, making external supplementation essential for longevity.Beyond Brain Barriers: Unlike many antioxidants, this specialized form of astaxanthin crosses the blood-brain barrier, allowing it to neutralize neurotoxins linked to Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.ResourcesUse code CRAWFORD at checkout on Valasta.net for a discount on your order.Valasta.net (testimonials, NIH research papers, dosing information)NIH Research Database (search: "NIH + astaxanthin + [disease]")ProQuest Government Research DatabaseLife Extension (publishes astaxanthin research papers)Dr. Fred Bisci (mentioned as colleague)HSCRP (high-sensitivity C-reactive protein) testing for inflammation markersHematococcus Pluvialis (algae source of astaxanthin)Products 528 Innovations Lasers NeuroSolution Full Spectrum CBD NeuroSolution Broad Spectrum CBD NeuroSolution Stimpod STEMREGEN® Learn MoreFor more information, resources, and podcast episodes, visit https://tinyurl.com/3ppwdfpm
What happens when the medical system tells you "there's nothing more we can do" - and you refuse to accept it? In this powerful and deeply personal conversation, I sit down with Dr. Aaron Hartman, family physician turned functional medicine specialist, whose entire medical philosophy changed after his adopted daughter Anna was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and given a hopeless prognosis. Despite being a doctor himself, Aaron watched specialist after specialist offer only medications, surgery, and limitations. But when he and his wife pursued a functional medicine approach - focusing on nutrition, nutrient deficiencies, fatty acids, hormones, and root-cause testing, Anna began to thrive against all odds. In this episode, we explore: The blind spots in the current medical model Why it takes 30 years for research to reach standard care How siloed, symptom-based medicine fails complex patients The power of never giving up, even after devastating diagnoses Why functional medicine focuses on connecting the dots, not chasing symptoms Testing that actually matters: nutrients, fatty acids, organic acids, hormones & more Overtraining, POTS, dysautonomia, hypermobility, and athlete burnout Why recovery, minerals, amino acids, and food-as-medicine are non-negotiable The role of omega-3 and omega-6 balance in inflammation and resilience Dr. Hartman is now the go-to doctor for complex and "uncurable" cases in Central Virginia, helping patients who have fallen through the cracks of conventional care reclaim their health and vitality. We also discuss his new book UnCurable: From Hopeless Diagnosis to Defying All Odds A moving account of his daughter's story and the transformation of his medical practice. If you've ever been told "this is just how it is", this conversation will change how you see your body, your health, and what's truly possible. Dr. Hartman's Bio: Dr. Aaron Hartman's functional medicine journey began when traditional healthcare failed Anna, his adopted daughter with cerebral palsy. Despite being a physician, he felt helpless as specialists offered no solutions, only surgery and medications. Witnessing his daughter's impossible transformation shattered everything Dr. Hartman believed about medicine. This transformed his entire practice of medicine and now he's become the doctor to turn to when all others have given up. He now helps patients reclaim their lives when conventional medicine says "there's nothing more we can do." His new book, "UnCurable: From Hopeless Diagnosis to Defying All Odds," chronicles this transformation. A clinical researcher involved in 70+ studies and VCU Assistant Clinical Professor, he founded Richmond Integrative and Functional Medicine in 2016.
If you've ever asked, ‘Has anyone actually healed from something like my diagnosis?' — this episode is for you.In this episode of Renegade Remission, we step away from averages and statistics and look directly at the evidence. You'll explore medically verified cases of unexpected recovery across cancer, autoimmune disease, neurological illness, and more, and what peer-reviewed science reveals about why they happen. From documented spontaneous regression to emerging research on the immune system, nervous system, and gene expression, this episode reframes what healing actually means when medicine says the odds are fixed. In this episode, you'll discover:Why spontaneous remission is rare, but still very real and medically documentedHow prognosis is based on population averages, not individual biologyWhat research reveals about immune re-engagement, inflammation, and healing statesHow the nervous system directly influences immune and inflammatory responsesWhy lifestyle, stress regulation, and perception can shift biological outcomesThis episode isn't about denying reality, it's about expanding it.Listen now to understand what the science of outliers reveals about healing — and how small, practical shifts can help align your body with the same biological pathways seen in unexpected recovery. This episode offers grounded hope, clarity, and a reminder that your diagnosis does not define your full potential.DisclaimerThis podcast is for educational purposes only and does not offer medical advice. Author Jonathan Gluck says most cancer stories take one of two forms: “He or she fought valiantly and died, or he or she fought valiantly and survived.” But Gluck, who was told in the prime of life that he had an incurable type of blood cancer, has a different kind of story. Dr. Sanjay Gupta sits down with Gluck to discuss his new book, “An Exercise in Uncertainty: A Memoir of Illness and Hope,” and what two decades of living with cancer have taught him – and might teach us – about living well. "The disease is the oxidation. Oxidative stress isn't what leads to disease — it is the disease." —Dr. Thomas LevyIn this episode of the Real Health Podcast, Ron Hunninghake, MD, sits down with Thomas Levy, MD, JD, cardiologist, attorney, and internationally known author, to explore his provocative thesis: that all disease stems from a single root cause — excess oxidation inside the cell. Drawing from decades of clinical experience and research, Dr. Levy explains how toxins, infections, and heavy metals deplete antioxidants like vitamin C and drive inflammation, and why restoring redox balance is key to healing.

Greg has the unfortunate moniker of contracting Ulcerative Colitis, an "Incurable" disease that leaves one constantly on the crapper with a perpetual prescription, and a lifetime of pain and discomfort.Dissatisfied and unaccepting of this diagnosis, Greg went on a search for alternative healing modalities which led him to "Rick Simpson Oil" - a highly concentrated cannabis oil that one can make at home. This concoction literally cured the incurable, and Greg no longer has this life-long affliction. We go in deep about why it is that science seems to be so natue-phobic, this cure that is born of nature, and how you too can cure Ulcerative Colitis or other "incurable" diseases if you are willing to walk this path. Additionally, we begin by discussing the benefits of dieting trees and tobacco, as crazy as that sounds. Enjoy Part 1 of this 2-Part episode.***********************I'm Geoff Eido.
