Masahiko Kimura (木村 政彦, Kimura Masahiko, September 10, 1917 – April 18, 1993) was a Japanese judoka and professional wrestler who is widely considered one of the greatest judoka of all time.[1][2][3] He won the All-Japan Judo Championships three times in a row for the first time in history and had never lost a judo match from 1936 to 1950. An author said," In the history of judo, no one is the strongest before Kimura and no one is the strongest after Kimura."[4] He has often been described as the strongest judoka in history.[5] In submission grappling, the reverse ude-garami arm lock is often called the "Kimura",[6] due to his famous victory over Gracie jiu-jitsu founder Hélio Gracie. In the Japanese professional wrestling world, he is known for the controversial match he had with Rikidōzan.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/jocko-podcast/exclusive-content

Dylan hosts a very special historical episode of the Eastern Lariat, joined by his good friend Dr. Jonathan Foye, the author of Ganbaru, the story of how AJPW survived the 2000 NOAH split & his new friend, who happens to be a legendary journalist, who has experience in writing, podcasting, commentating, & working behind the scenes in Japanese wrestling for over 3 decades, Fumi Saito. We discuss many topics on this show centered around Sumo Palace (aka Sumo Hall). We start all the way from the original incarnation of the building nearly 200 years ago to the incarnations of the Kokugikan that followed, then the many big matches and events that took place there over the years and it's recent resurgence over the last month with STARDOM, Zero1, NJPW & NOAH all have or are about to run shows there in the span of a month. Historical content we touch on is too much to list but include:   Rikidozan's start in Sumo Palace and incident with Masahiko Kimura.   NJPW's success in the 80's and Inoki's ways & matches.   The IWGP Title inaugural tournaments.   Tiger Mask(s)!   The famous riots in 1984 & 1987 at the venue.   WWF running in Japan and their interactions with AJPW & NJPW in the early 90's.   Super J Cup and it's legacy among English speaking fans as well as Japanese.   The dark ages of wrestling in Japan in the 2000s and the many companies that ran it over the years.   Thank you for listening to our show and please follow Fumi @fumihikodayo , Dylan @Viva_Zero , Jonathan @JonthanFoye and of course the show @EasternLariat for updates on all things Japanese wrestling, and a new episode with Dylan re-joined by STRIGGA very soon!   Thank you!

This week on the Grappling Rewind Podcast we talk about the most historic BJJ Ass Beating from our favorite high-level competitors. Taking a historic look at What’s Beef when it comes to bad blood matches, and generally overmatched competition at the highest levels. In this weeks news segment we talk Fight island UFC 249 being cancelled robbing us of the opportunity to see a real life Bloodsport. In the main segment of the show we talk about when keeping it real goes wrong in BJJ chronicling some classis BJJ beat downs in the world of Professional MMA and BJJ. We talk about the build up and results of Nick the tooth vs. Joe Lauzon and how this fight week matchup came to be, and then was subsequently removed from the internet. Then we talk about Nick the Tooth vs. Matt Serra that also ended in similar fashion. We talk about some history about the beef between all the parties involved and the technical beat down that ensued as a result. In our next match we talk about ADCC and grappling legend Marcello Garcia vs. Ben Askren in training footage going back to 2009 or earlier. We talk about how good Marcello is in comparison to the submission grappling of then wrestling stand out Ben Askren. We talk about the submission grappling “levels to this” understanding the huge accomplishments of both men In the next match we go back to 2008 with the viral match between Andre Galvao vs. the fake black belt took place in one of the most legendary beatings in sanctioned competition featuring an upset Andre Galavo going off in competition against an overmatched opponent who attempted to knee reap him during competition. All set to the beat of some classic So-Cal Hip Hop. Continuing the trend of beatings for the sake of proving a point we take a look at Ralek Gracie vs Gordon Ryan at the final Metamoris a match that we covered on the show back in 2017 we talk about some of the historic context of this match. The goal of the event and how it played out as well as the bet between Gordon and Danaher that lead to the triangle finish at a very specific time in the match. To cap off this episode we talk about the most notorious match in BJJ history Masahiko Kimura vs. Hélio Gracie. A match that was reported to have taken place in front of 20,000 people including the president of Brazil at the time way back in 1951. It is because of this match that BJJ adopted the name Kimura for the figure 4 arm lock. We talk about the finish and some other historic matches that took place around this time. In the outro section we talk about out quarantine plans and what’s on the roster for next weeks show. Recorded 4-13-2020

When Hélio Gracie's arm was broken by Masahiko Kimura in 1951, it was with a submission he had never seen. Hélio's reaction epitomized Brazilian Jiu Jitsu; he began studying the armlock used to defeat him and soon it was added to his toolkit. From that day forward the Kimura submission has been a part of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Nowadays the Kimura is used from many different positions to submit and control opponents. A testament to the technique, after all these years the basic mechanics remain the same.

It’s Halloween season and for me Horror-themed games are fun to play all year round. However, only a select few are best played during Halloween. As a result, horror based games provide not only chills, but bring great memories that amplify the enjoyment of this particular day even more-so. Traditionally, Halloween festivities include trick-or-treating, Horror movie marathons, and costume parties, but when it comes to The retro VGM Revival Hour, This year, like every year, Its about getting yourself ready to get you in the mood to celebrate this holiday the only way I know how: Video Game Music. =====Game - Composer - Title - Year - Company - System==== 1.)
