A member of the Clare Senior Hurling Backroom says they'll be keeping a keen eye on the strong performers in this year's club championships. It's after Clare's Munster Championship campaign concluded with a win against Limerick in the TUS Gaelic Grounds last week. The TUS Clare Senior, Premier Intermediate and Intermediate club hurling championships will now be the next focus of attention, with the first rounds due to get underway in two months team. Clare Selector and Clooney-Quin clubman Tommy Corbett says that the management team will be meeting up soon to discuss their plans for the future.
The lads are re-united this week with All-Ireland winners Paul Murphy and James Skehill joining the returning Will O'Callaghan to break down the penultimate round of group games in the Munster and Leinster Hurling Championshps. Limerick put in an awesome display to hammer Cork, while Tipperary won a Munster Championship home game for the first time since 2019 to secure qualification. Kilkenny are back into another Leinster final, Galway and Dublin are preparing for a de facto semi-final, and the lads give their take on Davy Fitzgerald's comments about referees ahead of their must-win. encounter with Offaly.
The Cork hurlers suffered one of their worst defeats of the modern era at the hands of Limerick on Sunday.Their display at TUS Gaelic Grounds was miles off the required level in the Munster Championship, especially when John Kiely's side were always going to be wired to the moon against the team that ended their five-in-a-row bid. There were very few positives, if any, given Cork lost by a staggering 16 points, coughing up three goals and being outclassed in every line of the field. Now, they can still make the Munster final if they get the better of Waterford at home next Sunday, which you'd have taken at the outset of the campaign. The manner of the loss though leaves them in a very vulnerable position for the visit of the Déise and going forward...Declan Dalton, Rob Downey and Niall O'Leary are injury doubts and we reveal who we would bring into the starting 15 to replace them. Were Cork complacent after landing the league and blitzing Tipp? Clare minor hurling manager Ger O'Connell says his side can take 'a lot of learnings' from yesterday's defeat to Cork. The rebels raided Dr.Daly Park in Tulla for a seven point win in their Munster Championship round 3 clash with full forward Callum Coffey netting a hattrick. Next up for the Banner is a trip to Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale to face a Limerick side still searching for their first win of the championship. O'Connell says his side were slightly off the pace and were duly punished by their opponents.

Former Kerry football team manager Mick O'Dwyer has died at the age of forty- eight. Tá iarbhainisteoir fhoireann peile Chiarraí Mick O'Dwyer tar éis bháis in aois a ocht mbliana agus ceithre scór. 'Micko' was one of Ireland's greatest sporting figures and won many medals, championships, trophies and awards as a player and manager throughout his life. Duine de mhórphearsana spóirt na hÉireann ab ea 'Micko' agus is iomaí bonn, craobh, corn agus gradam nach iad a bhuaigh sé mar imreoir agus mar bhainisteoir i gcaitheamh a shaoil. He won four All-Ireland championships as a player and eight championships as a pioneering manager of that famous elite team that Kerry had in the seventies and eighties. Ceithre chraobh Uile- Éireann a bhuaigh sé mar imreoir agus ocht gcraobh mar bhainisteoir ceannródaíoch ar an scothfhoireann cháiliúil úd a bhí ag Ciarraí sna seachtóidí agus sna hochtóidí. In fact, Kildare won the Leinster Championship in 1998 and 2000 under the guidance of Mick O'Dwyer and that team reached the All-Ireland final in 1998, when they were beaten by Galway by four goals. Go deimhin, bhain Cill Dara Craobh Laighean i 1998 agus in 2000 faoi lámh stiúrtha Mick O'Dwyer agus chuaigh an fhoireann sin chomh fada le cluiche ceannais Chraobh na hÉireann i 1998, tráth a fuair Gaillimh an ceann is fearr orthu le ceithre chúilín. The Banner's Munster campaign is edging ever closer, with Cork making the visit to Cusack Park on April 20th. Clare FM hurling analyst, Tommy Guilfoyle, says the injury would be much more detrimental to the squad, had it occurred later in the year.

Clare minor football manager Dermot Coughlan says his side will have regrets about their slow start after defeat to Cork in the Munster semi final. A scoring spree of 1-5 without replay in the opening quarter proved to be the match winning period for the Rebels, as they went on to record a 1-13 to 0-8 win. Clare played two thirds of the contest with 14 men following a straight red card for midfielder Aidan Weaver, but battled bravely in the second period. Coughlan says while the numerical disadvantage ultimately made the difference, attentions will soon turn to their All-Ireland series.

The Manager of the Clare Minor Footballers insists his side must hit the ground running in order to claim early season silverware next week. The Banner rounded off their group fixtues in the Munster Championship last night with a 2-10 to 1-08 home defeat at the hands of Tipperary at Pairc Naomh Muire, Quillty. Clare Boss Dermot Coughlan says while he is confident of securing the win, they must avoid a slow start.
The Clare Minor Football Boss is hailing the character of his squad following successive comeback victories in the Munster Championship. Despite trailing by 0-06 to 0-01 at the interval , a brace of second-half of goals from Kilrush Shamrocks clubman Seán Fennell along with a strike from Clooney-Quin's David Cahill put Clare on course for a 3-06 to 0-09 victory. The Banner now qualify for the Munster semi-final and will have an opportunity to secure early season silverware against Tipperary in the phase-one Daryl Darcy Cup final later this month. Manager Dermot Coughlan says they have strong ambitions for the season ahead.
A key member of the Clare Senior Hurling squad insists their focus is securing early season silverware this weekend. Clare last claimed National Hurling Honours in 2016 after overcoming Waterford in a replay at Semple Stadium. The Banner will now renew hostilities with Kilkenny in a clash that comes just two weeks before the opening round of the Munster Championship against All-Ireland Champions Limerick. Eire Óg's David Reidy who's struck nine points for Clare in the campaign so far, says their immediate priority is to win the league.
A former National league winner with Clare believes the strength in depth of the current squad is a huge asset ahead of their National Hurling League final with Kilkenny. The Banner can boast no major injuries, while both Tony Kelly and Shane O'Donnell could be set for a return to the squad for Saturday's decider. Brian Lohan's side will take on The Cats in Semple Stadium in Thurles at 7:15pm, looking for a first Division 1 title since 2016. Sean Stack, who twice captained Clare to league success, says the priority remains to have a fully fit squad ahead of their Munster Championship campaign.
