Johnny sits down with “El Diablo,” an active high-ranking member of the Sinaloa cartel, for a rare and intense conversation about the realities of the modern drug trade. El Diablo talks about how he got started at just 14 years old, how cartel loyalty works, the logistics of moving cocaine from Colombia through Mexico and into the United States, and why he believes staying low-key kept him out of prison for over 30 years. He also breaks down how distribution networks operate across the U.S., how money is moved and laundered, the role of trucking and logistics, internal cartel politics, and why major arrests and killings rarely stop the flow of drugs. Toward the end, he opens up about the personal cost of the lifestyle, the violence, betrayal, and fear that come with it, and why he says he's finally ready to walk away. This is one of the most raw and eye-opening interviews yet on The Connect. Topics covered: -cartel life -cocaine trafficking -Sinaloa cartel, border smuggling -cartel loyalty -money laundering -trucking routes -drug distribution -organized crime -leaving the game This Episode Is #Sponsored By The Following: Ava! This episode is brought to you by Boulay, the industry standard for Quality of Earnings, tax, and audit services, serving search fund entrepreneurs for 20+ years*This episode is brought to you by Oberle Risk Strategies: Insurance Broker and Insurance Due Diligence Provider for Search Funds and Other Small-to-Medium-Sized Businesses * Click Here to Subscribe to the In The Trenches YouTube Channel*Over the past few months, I've been presented with five separate opportunities that contemplated the acquisition of a company with $7M or more of EBITDA (this compares to the Search Fund average of $2.2M for the 2022-2023 cohort of Searchers). While I acknowledge that five data points don't constitute a trend, at the very least this has piqued my curiosity. While the Search Fund ecosystem has worried – seemingly for over a decade now – about the possibility of middle-market Private Equity firms moving down market, it's interesting to ask whether the inverse may now be happening, at least to a certain extent: Are Search Funds moving up market?
Ameer Williams greets you with a smile and a badge but behind that badge are 13 felonies and 4 years in prison. He went from hustling and selling drugs on the streets to becoming a police sergeant in Connecticut, and in this episode he pulls back the curtain on how the system let him through, what prison really did to him, and what it feels like to wear a uniform in the same world that once locked him up. This is an honest conversation about second chances, broken justice, and the thin line between criminal and cop...... and if you think you know what a police officer looks like, you haven't heard this story. _____________________________________________ #IanBick #LockedIn #TrueCrime #Prison #PrisonStories #PoliceOfficer #FelonToCop #redemptionstory _____________________________________________ Thanks to 300 LETTERS for sponsoring this episode: Visit https://300letters.org/ to learn more or get support. Host Scott Hennen returns from a Super Bowl week in San Francisco with a jam-packed Monday edition. The energy is electric as the team reacts to a "pinch-yourself" moment in North Dakota sports history: NDSU is officially making the jump to the FBS and joining the Mountain West Conference. Scott and Steve Hallstrom break down the financial "counting of noses," the potential for road trips to Hawaii and Vegas, and the end of legendary local rivalries. But that's not the only massive infrastructure shift. Fargo Airport Authority Chair Paula Ekman joins the show to give an exclusive sneak peek at the brand-new terminal expansion opening tomorrow. From "immersive reality rooms" for travelers to heated jetways and upgraded amenities, Fargo's "front porch" is getting a major facelift. Plus, we celebrate the upcoming Giving Hearts Day by highlighting local warriors in education and community support. Episode Highlights [00:01:43] Super Bowl Redux and the Halftime Great Divide Scott reflects on the high-production Turning Point USA "Alternative Halftime Show" and why Kid Rock's faith-based performance resonated more than the official NFL broadcast. Why are tech companies really laying off developers? The uncomfortable truth has nothing to do with AI efficiency and everything to do with running out of ideas. In this episode, Stephan Schmidt, CTO coach and author of “The Amazing CTO's Missing Manual,” shares a perspective on AI adoption that most tech leaders aren't talking about. Developer layoffs aren't about AI replacing jobs; they reveal a deeper problem. Product management has become a bottleneck, creating shallow features just to keep developers busy rather than driving meaningful innovation. When AI accelerates development, this bottleneck becomes impossible to ignore.Stephan explains why architecture must be AI-ready before teams can benefit from AI tools, how CTOs can manage unrealistic business expectations, and why junior developers actually have a massive opportunity right now. He also challenges the common belief that vibe coding will democratize software development, explaining why you need to be a strong developer to prompt effectively.Key topics discussed:Why AI layoffs reveal companies ran out of good ideasArchitecture must be AI-ready for real productivity gainsVibe coding only works if you're already a strong developerProduct engineering roles will replace traditional developersMCP connections unlock AI value beyond code generationJuniors have huge advantage as AI-native engineersIterate on plans, not prompts, when using AI toolsCTOs can finally “rise and shine” using AI strategicallyTimestamps:(00:00) Trailer & Intro(03:19) How do companies become truly AI-first?(04:13) How should CTOs manage unrealistic AI velocity expectations?(08:35) AI Use Cases Beyond Code Generation(12:04) What is MCP and how does it unlock AI value?(15:04) Why Developers Resist AI Adoption(18:35) Are AI layoffs caused by a lack of product innovation?(21:22) What is the future for junior developers in the age of AI?(24:36) Critical Thinking and Moving Up the Abstraction Layer(27:24) Vibe Coding: Benefits and Pitfalls(31:59) What is the difference between a Developer and a Product Engineer?(35:59) Building an Effective AI Adoption Strategy(38:06) AI Adoption Strategy for Development Teams(40:44) Avoiding the AI Tech Zoo(44:48) How do tech leaders handle AI data privacy and security?(50:31) How is the CTO role changing in 2026?(57:23) 3 Tech Lead WisdomLike this episode?Show notes & transcript: techleadjournal.dev/episodes/243.Follow @techleadjournal on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.Buy me a coffee or become a patron.

Those fans hoping to see the new York Jets select Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza in the NFL draft with the first overall pick won’t be thrilled with the way things have played out in recent days. Even after losing yesterday’s meeting with the Patriots, the Jets are unlikely to have a shot at Mendoza. https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/69243781/download.mp3 With the Raiders losing their game to the New York Giants, they hop up to pick number 1 and realistically, need a quarterback just as badly as the Jets do. Sure, they’ve got Geno Smith, but he’s a quarterback at a point in his career where he should be replaced. Head coach Pete Carroll’s future with the Raiders is uncertain which could mean a full reboot in Vegas with a new head coach and QB. And what better time to do it than when you have the top pick in the draft? Some have suggested the Jets “trade up no matter what the cost”, but that assumes the QB needy Raiders are dying to swap places with the QB needy Jets and move forward without a signal caller of their own. While it is possible the Oregon QB Dante Moore could declare, the Jets will have to ask themselves if they’d be willing to hand the franchise over to yet another inexperienced college quarterback. Given how things worked out with Mark Sanchez, Sam Darnold’s first few seasons and Zach Wilson, that could mean extending their playoff drought a few years closer to the two-decade mark. It’s never easy with the Jets, and things just got a lot harder. The post Moving up for top Pick Just got Tougher for Mougey, Jets appeared first on JetNation.com - New York Jets Blog & Forum.
