CBS also boasted eight of the top 10 most-watched programs, including new show hits Matlock and Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. Freshman Shows Boost Time Slots: New series like CBS's reboot of Matlock and ABC's High Potential and Shifting Gears improved their respective time slots' viewership. Matlock became the season's most-watched new series, while Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage was the top comedy. Reboots and Spinoffs Rule: The season leaned heavily on familiar franchises. Examples include CBS's NCIS: Origins (a prequel to NCIS), Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage (a Young Sheldon spinoff), and NBC's Happy's Place (starring Reba McEntire, echoing her sitcom roots). This reflects a cautious approach by networks, favoring known brands over original concepts. Long-Running Shows Keep Going: Iconic animated series on Fox, like The Simpsons (renewed through its 40th season), Family Guy (through its 27th season), and Bob's Burgers (through its 19th season), continued their historic runs, cementing their status as cultural staples. The CW's Reboot Continues: The CW, now under new management, focused on sports and unscripted content, airing NASCAR Xfinity Series races and shows like Totally Funny Animals. It also renewed scripted series like Sullivan's Crossing for a third season, signaling a shift from its former teen-drama-heavy identity. Broadcast TV Still Draws Older Viewers: Social media chatter on X suggested younger audiences are drifting from broadcast TV, with “boomers” as the primary viewers. This perception aligns with complaints about repetitive genres (cop, lawyer, doctor shows) and a lack of risk-taking, though hits like Tracker and High Potential still pulled diverse viewers.

We used the-numbers for this value. Inflation Adjusted US Domestic Box Office for the last 25 years: Summary: In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the box office experienced significant growth, with yearly receipts reaching new heights. For instance, in 2002, domestic box office revenues hit a peak of approximately $16 billion when adjusted for inflation. Since then, total box office receipts have fluctuated, especially reacting to global events, such as the 2008 financial crisis, which led to a decrease in consumer spending on entertainment. The last two decades have seen a dominance of comic book adaptations and franchise films (e.g., Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, etc.) at the box office. These films often dominate annual box office charts, with some grossing over a billion dollars domestically. Sequels, remakes, and adaptations became staples as studios sought safe investments. The trend has been reinforced by the success of properties with established fan bases. The rise of streaming services (Netflix, Disney+, etc.) has changed how audiences consume films, often leading to decreased box office attendance for certain genres, particularly dramas and non-franchise films. The pandemic and writers strike severely impacted the film industry, with theaters closing and productions halting. The domestic box office fell dramatically in 2020. This decline prompted many studios to rethink release strategies, leading to more simultaneous releases on streaming platforms. Post-pandemic, there has been a gradual recovery, with some films performing exceptionally well, while smaller films continue to face challenges in recapturing pre-pandemic audience levels.

Grabs your fancy drinks, we're hitting the slopes and tropical beaches with Lower Decks this week. We'll be reviewing season 5, episode 3, "The Best Exotic Nanite Hotel". Also, Netflix makes a big mistake with Star Trek Prodigy. LeVar Burton isn't holding back as he talks about Star Trek Legacy. And Denise Crosby shares what she and Star Trek Picard showrunner Terry Matalas had planned. All that and more on Trekcast. Episode summary:The crew are deployed to remove a nanite swarm in a space hotel, but Mariner is dismayed when the mission is joined by Jennifer Sh'reyan, an ex-girlfriend who Mariner ghosted. Jennifer acts as if they are still dating, and the others encourage Mariner to have a mature conversation and end things. Mariner avoids the confrontation, but her awkward, passive-aggressive behavior lets the nanites get out of control. Jennifer reveals she was just trying to force Mariner to talk about their breakup, and the two apologize. Rutherford finds a way to disable the nanites, discovering that they were controlled by a microscopic Starfleet ship from a parallel universe. Meanwhile, Boimler goes on a mission with Commander Ransom to locate AWOL Starfleet admiral Milius. Boimler suspects Ransom is treating him as cannon fodder, and briefly sides with Milius, who says he left Starfleet out of resentment at being assigned low-prestige missions. Ransom admits that he brought Boimler because he is always prepared and wanted to give him opportunities to showcase his bravery; Boimler subdues Milius, securing the mission. Milius is reassigned to help the microscopic ship return to its universe. This week we discuss the shutting down of Insteon servers and what you can do to continue using your Insteon automation products and we have an interview with Tony Willis where we discuss his Home Assistant setup that is one of the ways to keep your Insteon devices working. Plus there is a lot of Netflix news and we read your emails. News: Netflix stock plunges 38% on shocking subscriber loss Netflix, Disney+, HBO losing billions to illegal password sharing TiVo Stream 4K First To Fully Integrate With YouTube TV IMDb TV Rebrands as Amazon Freevee Sony's flagship soundbars just got support for another spatial audio format Insteon Discussion Insteon servers offline. Company had a change in management in 2017 and tried to pivot it's products (with different manufacturers and partnerships). This did not go well and caused the decline of the company. According to our source the present automations should still work but you will not be able to check the status of your home or make changes. If you are using Idigo Domotics control SW you will see no changes, likewise if you are using Home Assistant You can also use an ISY controller. But you'll need a 2413S INSTEON Dual-Band PLM to talk to the devices. The devices are no longer being sold but you can find them on ebay for, get this, $1000. If the hub was your only interface to your switches, Home Assistant may be your only way back in. Apparently Home Assistant has access to the inner workings of the hub and can take over the automation process. But as you will hear in a little bit, you will need to get into the weeds making everything work. Insteon was one of the first partners with Apple's Homekit. However, Apple did not have everything finalized and it cost Insteon a lot of money to support it. As a result the product was very buggy and did not work well. My own experience with the Homekit integration was so bad that I moved away from Insteon. They never really got it to a point that I thought was bullet proof. There is hope… Things are happening that may see the servers turn back on. I can't say much more than that. Warning - Do not factory reset your device under any circumstances as it will not be recoverable. /r/insteon Is where you can get information from other Insteon users Home Assist Interview with Tony Willis Home Assistant is open source home automation that puts local control and privacy first. Powered by a worldwide community of tinkerers and DIY enthusiasts. Perfect to run on a Raspberry Pi or a local server.
