The company has gone all-in on the idea that your TV shouldn't be trapped inside your living room anymore. From massive backyard cinema screens to portable, roll-anywhere displays and even emergency-ready TVs, Sylvox is clearly betting big on the future of the outdoor TV. And judging by what I saw, that future is bright—literally. The 110-inch Cinema Pro Helio QLED: A Backyard Theater Dream The star of the booth is impossible to miss: the 110-inch Cinema Pro Helio QLED. This is a full-blown outdoor home theater that looks like it belongs in a luxury backyard with a pool, fireplace, and lounge furniture. Sylvox was even simulating rain on it to prove the point—this is a true IP55 weatherproof TV that doesn't need to be covered or babied. It's rated to operate from below -22°F up to 122°F, making it viable for everything from winter football games to summer movie nights. Add Google TV, voice remote control, and a thin, surprisingly lightweight design, and you're looking at a serious “build your patio around this” kind of display. The Pool Series: A 2,000-Nit Portable Bright Monitor If 110 inches feels like overkill, the Pool Series is all about flexibility. This is a 4K Ultra HD, IP55-rated outdoor TV on wheels, pushing up to 2,000 nits of brightness—bright enough to cut through direct sunlight in the morning or early evening. The big idea here is mobility: roll it out to the pool, the garage, or even down the street for a neighbor's game night. It handles the same brutal temperature range as the bigger models, and the brightness means you won't be closing shades or hunting for shade just to see what's on screen. It's easy to imagine this being used in a studio, at events, or even on a covered patio for TikTok-style vertical content. The Deck and Lift Systems: TVs That Disappear When You Don't Need Them Sylvox is also thinking about integration, not just screens. The Deck Series and lift-based systems let a TV rise out of cabinetry or deck structures at the push of a button, then disappear when you're done watching. These setups are also IP55-rated and typically around 1,000 nits, and they're built on a modular, movable foundation system that doesn't require permanent concrete. It's a clever solution for people who want a clean outdoor space that transforms into an entertainment zone on demand. It's marketed as reflection-free and significantly brighter than average OLEDs. No fue Netflix. No fue Apple TV. Tampoco Disney Plus.La noticia llegó desde Peacock, una plataforma poco conocida fuera de Estados Unidos, pero que acaba de colocarse en el centro de una discusión técnica muy importante.Peacock anunció que será la primera plataforma de streaming del mundo en integrar Dolby Vision 2 y el nuevo sistema de audio Dolby AC-4.Este anuncio importa porque cambia cómo se procesan las imágenes y el sonido dentro del televisor, incluso durante transmisiones en vivo. Y plantea una pregunta clave: ¿qué está haciendo Peacock para llegar primero y qué significa esto para quien se sienta frente a la pantalla?  El avance técnico existe, pero entenderlo cambia por completo la percepción.  Antes de entrar en la tecnología, aclaremos qué es Peacock.Peacock es la plataforma de streaming de NBCUniversal. En HDR dinámico, como Dolby Vision, el contenido incluye metadatos.Los metadatos son instrucciones. No son la imagen en sí, son datos que le dicen al televisor cómo debe mostrar esa imagen.Dolby Vision original trabaja con metadatos escena por escena. Eso ya era un salto importante.Dolby Vision 2 va más lejos. Funciona fotograma por fotograma. Cada imagen tiene sus propias instrucciones: cuánto brillo usar, cómo tratar los colores, cómo manejar el contraste y cómo procesar el movimiento.El televisor ya no adivina. Recibe órdenes muy precisas y las adapta a sus capacidades reales.Aquí ocurre algo muy interesante. Dolby Vision 2 no intenta convertir un televisor barato en uno caro. Lo que hace es conocer sus límites y trabajar dentro de ellos.Dolby prueba televisores en sus laboratorios y crea perfiles técnicos. Con esos perfiles, el sistema sabe cuánta luz puede emitir la pantalla, qué tan profundos son sus negros y cómo responde su procesador.Con esa información, los metadatos se traducen en decisiones precisas para cada fotograma.Eso permite mejorar detalles en sombras, evitar colores exagerados y reducir problemas de movimiento.En versiones avanzadas, incluso permite a los creadores decidir cuánta interpolación de movimiento se aplica en cada momento de una película o serie.Aquí entra también el audio. Dolby AC-4 reemplaza al códec actual usado en streaming. Es más eficiente y está pensado para manejar sonido envolvente moderno.Permite, por ejemplo, priorizar las voces desde la mezcla original, sin que el televisor tenga que procesarlas después.Este nivel de procesamiento no es gratuito. Exige chips con bloques dedicados para analizar y aplicar metadatos en tiempo real.En este momento, uno de los procesadores compatibles es el Pentonic 800 de MediaTek.Por eso no todos los fabricantes pueden adoptar Dolby Vision 2 de inmediato.Algunas marcas ya confirmaron soporte en modelos dos mil veintiséis, como Hisense, TCL y Philips.Otras tomaron caminos distintos. Samsung impulsa HDR10 Plus Advanced. LG ya confirmó que sus modelos de este año no lo soportarán.En medio de esa fragmentación, Peacock tomó una decisión clara: ser la plataforma donde esta tecnología se usa primero y se pone a prueba con contenido real.Dolby Vision 2 cambia cómo el televisor toma decisiones, usando metadatos fotograma por fotograma y audio más avanzado. Observations: Large size exposes weaknesses in poor cable signals (fixed by rerouting). He notes TCL (and Hisense) are seriously challenging premium brands (Samsung, LG, Sony) with high-end specs at budget prices, earning praise from reviewers like RTINGS.com. Jon historically preferred established brands for reliability but now sees TCL/Hisense as the new value leaders, similar to how Samsung/LG rose decades ago. He recommends checking out the latest high-end TCL models, especially for large sizes where premium brands were too expensive for him. He's also considering switching from Verizon Fios to a streaming TV service to cut costs. Overall, Jon is thrilled with the TV's performance and value, calling it a "force to be reckoned with."

Academy Award®-winning composer Volker Bertelmann joins guest host Jon Burlingame to explore his gripping and sonically inventive score for “A House of Dynamite.” Their conversation delves into his use of unconventional textures, low-frequency resonance, and layered instrumental techniques to create a sense of mounting dread throughout the film. No but it's shockingly good value with Alexa voice control, built-in Fire TV streaming, and DTS Virtual:X audio for immersive sound without extra speakers. Picture quality is decent for bright rooms. Home Depot has great deals on Nest Thermostats. Some deals are active now and others on Black Friday. We are reading that Home Depot will have the Google Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Gen) available for $199. It's regularly priced at $279. Darker evenings, groggy mornings, and maybe an extra cup of coffee (or three). But does this time shift really matter anymore? Dr. Jason Delaney, an economics professor at Georgia Gwinnett College, doesn’t think so. “It was about saving energy back when lighting and heating were inefficient, and air conditioning didn’t exist. That’s not the world we live in now,” he said. “Economically, the impact is minimal.” Psychologist Dr. David Ludden sees it differently: “It messes with your body. We’re not built to adjust quickly—our sleep cycles rely on light cues.” His advice? Get outside in natural light or use bright indoor lights during the day to help reset your internal clock. So, while the time change might feel like a relic of the past, it still throws us off—at least for a little while. STORY 2: Gwinnett Tech hosts inaugural Gryphon Gratitude Breakfast On Oct. 15, Gwinnett Tech Foundation hosted its first-ever Gryphon Gratitude Breakfast, and the room was packed—150 donors, students, and community partners all gathered to celebrate the life-changing power of giving. It wasn’t just about handshakes and thank-yous. Students stood up and shared raw, personal stories—how scholarships kept them in school, how the Foundation gave them a shot at a future they almost gave up on. “Every donation has a face,” said Darcie Johnson, the Foundation’s executive director. “You’re not just giving money—you’re changing lives.” The event wrapped with a challenge: “Fuel Your Purpose.” A reminder to give, to act, to make it count. STORY 3: Georgians react to Instagram 'PG-13' rating policy   Meta’s new “PG-13” filter for Instagram? Let’s just say Georgians aren’t exactly buying it. The company claims the filter will block posts with strong language, risky stunts, or content promoting harmful behaviors—like drug paraphernalia. Sounds good on paper, right? But critics are calling it a PR stunt, not a real solution. Sharon Winkler, who lost her 17-year-old son Alex to suicide in 2017, isn’t convinced. “This feels like another empty promise to make parents feel safe,” she said. The category was mostly for DIYers or for people with deep pockets. It wasn't until these  three products came out that the year/decade/century of automation was officially upon us.  Philips Hue Smart Bulb - Philips essentially defined smart lighting and is used in 50M+ homes for ambiance/security the world over. Many have copied Philips but for us nothing beats these lights. Nest Learning Thermostat - The Nest Learning Thermostat revolutionized home climate control as the first smart thermostat, pioneering the category with its innovative self-learning technology and sleek design in 2011. Although we use the ecobee and recommend it, the category would not be where it is without the Nest Thermostat.  Ring Video Doorbell - The Ring Video Doorbell revolutionized home security by pioneering the smart doorbell category, introducing remote video monitoring and two-way communication in 2014.  What is Dolby Vision 2 Dolby Vision 2 is a next-generation HDR format announced by Dolby Laboratories on September 2, 2025, at IFA 2025. It builds on the original Dolby Vision by introducing AI-driven tools, enhanced creator controls, and features that extend beyond traditional HDR, such as improved motion handling. The format is designed to deliver more accurate, director-intended visuals across a range of TVs, adapting to content, viewing environments, and display capabilities. It comes in two tiers: Tier Target TVs Key Focus Dolby Vision 2 Mainstream TVs Core upgrades via new image engine and Content Intelligence for improved picture quality. Dolby Vision 2 Max High-performance TVs (e.g., premium Mini-LED) All core features plus premium extras like Authentic Motion for maximum brightness, contrast, and cinematic fidelity.   Main Features Here are the primary features of Dolby Vision 2: 1. Dolby Image Engine A more powerful processing engine that enhances overall image rendering, enabling higher brightness, sharper contrast, and more saturated colors while preserving artistic intent. Supports bi-directional tone mapping, allowing creators to optimize content for specific TV capabilities (e.g., brighter displays) without losing fidelity. 2. Content Intelligence (AI-Powered Optimization) An AI suite that automatically adjusts picture settings based on content type, viewing environment (e.g., room lighting), and device. Light Sense: Upgraded ambient light detection combined with reference data from the source material to dynamically tweak brightness and visibility. Precision Black: Improves shadow detail and clarity in dark scenes, addressing complaints about HDR appearing too dark; creators can embed room/bias lighting info and black-level sliders for precise control. 3. Authentic Motion (Premium Motion Handling) Available only in Dolby Vision 2 Max: The world's first creator-driven motion control tool, enabling shot-by-shot adjustments to reduce judder (stutter) while avoiding the "soap opera effect." Makes 24fps cinematic content feel more fluid and authentic, ideal for movies, sports, and fast-action scenes. These features aim to make Dolby Vision 2 backward-compatible with existing Dolby Vision content (with some improvements), but full benefits require new TVs and mastered content.  Industry Adoption: Hisense will be the first TV brand to introduce Dolby Vision 2 to its lineup. These TVs will be powered by MediaTek Pentonic 800 with “MiraVision™ Pro” PQ Engine, the first silicon chip to integrate Dolby Vision 2. Timing and availability will be announced at a later date.
