We're back on the Nightbane book train with the second of the expansion content books: Nightlands! This book is just damn amazing in every way, and we had a whole lot of fun talking about it. Today's episode is a special review of the Lightlark series by Alex Aster! Karly & Mia received their first ever gifted book PR, the Lightlark series by Alex Aster! Today, they're diving into their reactions with a spoiler free review of Lightlark, and the newly released sequel Nightbane. The girls are a tad split on this one, but they can agree it was entertaining to read, and loved that the story was set against a unique background with fun world building! (However, can we get some love for the untalented girls in fantasy books, please?) No rant for the day as your favorite hosts were locked in to read this series and review as quickly as possible. Happy reading besties!
Somehow, Lightlark has returned. Some call it the worst YA book ever made, others call it a victim of a chemical reaction between the publishing industry and the TikTok machine. Whatever led Lightlark and Nightbane to get published, they're full of common mistakes made by newbie fantasy writers and remain some of the most controversial books. We don't care. We're hell-bent on saving it, anyways. Maybe it's something with the character introductions, the romance subplot, or even that this book needs a bit more Reylo--J and Andrew will do whatever it takes to make the world of Isla, Oro, and GRIMSHAW make sense. ABOUT THE BOOK: Isla Crown has secured the love of two powerful rulers and broken the curses that plagued the six realms for centuries, but few know the true origins of her powers. Now, in the wake of a crushing betrayal, Isla finds herself hungry for distraction, preferring to frequent Lightlark's seductive haunts instead of embracing her duties as the newly crowned leader of two separate realms. Worse, her fellow rulers haven't ceded victory quietly, and there are others in Isla's midst who don't believe her ascent to power was earned. As certain death races toward Lightlark and secrets from the past begin to unravel, Isla must weigh her responsibility to her people against the whims of the most dangerous traitor of all: her heart. Coming at you with another awesome drunken Character Jam, the Bikers Dice and Bars crew is back with our longest episode yet. This one was just too good to split into two, so sit back and enjoy an extended romp through the random hilarity of Palladium's Nightbane Role-Playing Game! We're currently halfway through a month-long content break as we move to a brand new recording studio. This episode was recorded the night before Gamestorm 2019, and due to scheduling conflicts with his duties as convention staff, Jacob couldn't make it to the session. So we made sure to have an extra special amount of fun without him, Hah! The players decided all their characters were part of a special guerilla "Free teh Aminals!" hippy group, due to their multiple collective dysfunctions. In true Nightbane style, we all made base Nightbane OCCs, and the results were quite astounding. Our next content on the feed after this one will most likely be our special Wagoncon episode. Come join us there May 3rd-5th in The Dalles, Oregon. In this episode: - Heathendog's Heathendogma: Nightbane (A Palladium Books RPG). - Garthon's Comic Pull: Avengers #2, Captain America #702 and Justice League: No Justice #2. - Random Number Generator (RNG): What do Heathendog and Garthon think of the upcoming “Thundercats Roar” series? -------------------- - Watch and interact LIVE every Saturday at 8:00pm CT on https://twitch.tv/legionofmyth. -------------------- HEATHENDOG'S HEATHENDOGMA: - 5:43 - The world of Nightbane is a dark fantasy setting very much like our own modern world on the surface, but beneath that, it is more sinister. Disappearances and murders are common place. Reports of monster sightings are more frequent, and people tend to feel hopeless and helpless. The reason for this is that a secret cabal of supernatural beings from another dimension and their shapeshifting minions have quietly seized control of the world's government and corporate powers. GARTHON'S COMIC PULL: - 40:03 - Avengers (2018-) #2 - Black Panther and Dr. Strange battle for their lives deep within the earth…Captain Marvel battles death and destruction raining down from the skies…while Thor, Iron Man and Captain America lead the valiant (yet hopeless) fight against the Final Host of Dark Celestials. And Ghost Rider and the Savage Hulk make brutal war against...each other? Plus, you can't have a gathering of Avengers without a certain Prince of Lies, now can you? [★★★ - Above Average] - 43:53 - Captain America (2017-) #702 - The quest to save his son leads Jack Rogers into the bowels of the Earth, far from the idyllic surface — and a meeting with the descendant of another notable Marvel hero! [★★★ - Above Average] - 54:02 - JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE #2 - The teams arrive at Brainiac’s home world to find it already in chaos. Only by splitting up and journeying to the four cosmic trees of Colu will they have any hope of saving the planet…but what’s waiting for them will test the true mettle of their new alliances! Oh man, this episode is late, so very very late! We were supposed to have this bad boy posted on the 15th, and now it is the 23rd! Sorry everyone! Anyway, in this belated episode we sit down with EyeProfet, one of the hosts of Gloryhoundd and the Uninvited Gamers and discuss Palladium gaming including Rifts, Beyond the Supernatural and the good old TMNT tabletop RPG from the halcyon days of the first eighties. We wax nostalgic (as usual) and Brendan insists on making everything about Nightbane. Enjoy!
After Dark Day, when the entire world was blanketed in darkness for 24 hours, Earth has become a more dangerous place, haunted by the forces of evil. None are more aware of this than four young college students who have undergone a strange metamorphosis into NIGHTBANE! The PCs are led by the Resistance leader, Burgerface, into the Nightlands city of Doom Harbour to rescue some of his escaped soldiers. Things go...interestingly.
