In an ever-evolving financial landscape, Private Debt has emerged as a resilient and adaptable asset class, capturing the interest of investors seeking stability and growth. Despite negative media coverage, what makes this asset class appealing to investors? What are the implications of lower interest rates on Private Debt? And how does it fit into today's overall investment climate? On this episode, host Anu Rajakumar welcomes Parrish Smith, Vice President at Neuberger Berman and a member of the Private Debt team to share his insights on why Private Debt can be increasingly attractive to investors as highlighted in the team's recently released paper: Private Debt: Few Facts Beyond the Fears. N.O.R.E. & DJ EFN are the Drink Champs in this episode the champs chop it up with the legend himself, Erick Sermon! Drink Champs alumni and hip-hop legend Erick Sermon joins us once again! Erick shares his journey in hip-hop, from his come up, changing the game with Parrish Smith and their group EPMD and much more! Erick talks about the importance of owning your publishing, and shares stories of Def Jam, Michael Jackson, Wu Tang Clan and much much more. Lots of great stories that you don't want to miss! Make some noise for Erick Sermon!!!
In this episode, the series of my top 12 albums of the incredible year of 1993 continues - 30 years of greatness. April's focus is Erick Sermon's No Pressure. This is the debut album of Erick Sermon as a solo artist. Previously he was part of the legendary trio EPMD which included Parrish Smith and DJ Scratch. Flow, Production and Lyricism made this an effort from E-Double.
"I am going to take you on a ride where I will challenge you to back down or go with me," Parrish Smith says in the interview below. "If you don't like to do this, and you see a glimpse of me, you will dislike me. But the second time it happens again, I will be there to change your mind again, just to be challenged." It's a confident, confrontational idea that goes with an unusually confrontational RA Podcast, a mix that represents a truly free spirit in the European dance scene. Smith, who also moonlights in the band Volition Immanent with fellow Dutch trailblazer Mark Knekelhuis, makes and plays hard, aggressive techno. But instead of gabber BPMs and overdriven kick drums, he directly incorporates ideas, sounds and influences from rock, punk and metal, a tricky combination that he nails like few others have been able to. (Just check his album Light, Cruel & Vain.) Case in point: this mix blends Regis, Tzusing and Playboi Carti with Sepultura, Juno Reactor and Celldweller. It's a journey to the end of aesthetics, where opposites don't attract so much as crash and melt into each other. It's a fierce hour-and-a-half but never quite overbearing or overwhelming, gracefully weaving in and out of chaos like the work of someone who knows the real impact and art of heavy music. @parrishsmith Read more at https://ra.co/podcast/874
Parrish "PMD" Smith alongside his partner in rhyme, Erick Sermon, created EPMD - one of the most iconic Hip-Hop groups of all time. Setting trends with their music and fashion, the two carved a path for every MC that came after. In this episode hear how Parrish pivoted from sports to music, from DJing to MCing, and from MCing to artist management, and all that came with it. B. Cox reviews EPMD's fourth album Business Never Personal as it turns 30. After three successful albums that carried them through the peak of hip-hop's golden era, EPMD released their fourth album and seemed primed for success well into the 90s.The album is packed into less than 40 minutes of funky, but thumping production by the group with two singles: "Crossover" and the posse cut "Head Banger" which featured fellow Hit Squad members K-Solo and newcomer Redman. The album went gold and is considered by some to be the group's third classic album, and by others a return to their roots of their freshman and sophomore albums. The success would not be long lived. Due to tensions over financial improprieties and accusations that Erick Sermon sent burglars to rob Parrish Smith's home, the group split shortly after the album, pursuing solo careers, before reuniting in 1997 for a new album.Visit The Vault Classic Music Reviews Onlinewww.vaultclassicpod.comSupport The Vault Classic Music Review on Buy Me A Coffeehttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/vaultclassicpodShow NotesAlbumism: EPMD's fourth album "Business Never Personal" Turns 30 | Anniversary Retrospectivehttps://albumism.com/features/epmd-business-never-personal-turns-30-anniversary-retrospectiveHipHopScriptures: EPMD's "Business Never Personal" Album Anniversary https://www.hiphopscriptures.com/blog/2022/7/30/epmds-business-never-personal-album-anniversaryMedium: Funk Loops, Turmoil and Reconciliation: EPMD's "Business Never Personal" Turns 30...https://medium.com/micro-chop/funk-loops-turmoil-and-reconciliation-epmds-business-never-personal-turns-25-4f05419eabbfSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-vault-classic-music-reviews-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

In this episode of Awake All Hours, we begin with a brief recap of Primavera Sound before presenting our preview for the world's most famous festival, Glastonbury (9:24)! We do our best dissect the stupidly stacked clashfinder, highlighting significant electronic artists and unmissable sets, from the main stages to the darkest recesses of the festival, for those interested or attending next weekend. Highlights include but certainly not limited to a Sports Banger Mega Rave, Cinthie shutting down Genosys, a tantalising B2B between LCY and Blawan, swaying merrily in front of Firmly Rooted Soundsytem all day, Shygirl performing live on a giant head and an all night Booty Bass take over!We follow with album reviews, featuring the new noise rap head-spinner 'Nothing To Declare' by 700 Bliss (42:32), Parrish Smith's genre distorting ‘Light, Cruel & Vain' (57:00) and µ-Ziq's pillowy IDM dream, ‘Magic Pony Ride' (1:10:58). We finish, as always, with What's In My Bandcamp Basket (1:22:58), rounding up our favourite fresh club-ready cuts, featuring Manni Dee, Luca Lozano, DJ Polo & Ramzee, Angel D'lite and more!SUPPORT THE ARTISTS: https://buymusic.club/list/awakeallhours-ep-052-glastonbury-festival-preview-700-bliss-parrish-smith-and-ziqSUPPORT AWAKE ALL HOURS: www.patreon.com

I mean the title says it all... Whether I look at Jay-Z and Dame Dash, NWA and Ice Cube, Nino and G Money, Avon and Stringer, KD and Russell Westbrook, Teddy P and Harold Melvin, or Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith when it comes to unity, I just can't call it. When it comes to unity, leadership and (business) relationships in the Black community I just don't see Black Matriarchy as the sole dividing force. Former ESPN and Fox Sports sports personality Jason Whitlock has recently launched his new Fearless podcast/YouTube channel, and in one of its first episodes he has rushed to the defense of his former colleague Stephen A. Smith during a rough week, tied Smith's "Asian hate" troubles to Maria Taylor's salary demands and reimagined the real point (overbearing black women) of Ryan Coogler's Black Panther. I should've known better, Wakanda never had a shot at FOREVER. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/its-always-personal/support
Scott mentions an interesting project (1:20) before both guys recap the work on their Kickstarters. They touch on two adages: 'youth being wasted on the young' (19:45) and 'ten percent of something or 100 percent of nothing' as well as Gerard Way, Parrish Smith and Rob Liefeld. A bonus pop cultre conversation follows with Gary Hodges, including Godzilla vs Kong (34:55), a SPOILER on close-watching of the movie's trailer (51:30 to 58:25), and television (58:30). 300 up! And who better to help us mark this milestone than Parrish Smith, a core member of the Dekmantel family for a number of years. Not only a much loved regular at our festivals, he is also at home on Dekmantel UFO when not releasing on L.I.E.S.. Smith's famously full-throttle body music has a distinctive analogue edge whether raw and industrial, or acid laced and raved up. Does that make him Holland's most punk DJ? Quite possibly, because his ability to bring sonic terror to any dance floor is second to none, no matter what tools he uses. This week, he brings his bristling and unrelenting energy to your home stereo, headphones or car with all the disregard for genre you would expect. Across 90 punishing minutes there are distorted techno drums and caustic synths, brightly lit strobes and death metal vocals that will scare you to your core. Managing to keep a lid on such a high octane and confrontational mix of darkened sounds is a skill in itself, and one that Parrish Smith has long since mastered. This one, then, is not for the faint of heart.
The Radio Boys (C.Truth, Kev Lawrence) talked with the Revolver John Jigg$ (@Jiggsthegreat). Jiggs discussed living all over Long Island, getting advice from K Solo, the help he got from Parrish Smith of EPMD, teaching his son the business and his son coming for his crown, touring Europe, how Mxnxpxly Family got started, mastering his bowling skills, Hip Hop from the heart, the evolution of John Jigg$ , Atlanta traffic, giving the audience something unique, other Long Island influences like: EPMD, Rakim, Keith Murray, Dinco D, Roc Marciano and more. Mark Knekelhuis is a world explorer who brings a love of live instrumentation to his dance music. The Knekelhuis label boss is a staunchly DIY operator who is also the voice of Volition Immanent, a live act along side Dekmantel regular Parrish Smith. He makes music that manages to be deeply personal but also immediate and arresting and that same style defines his radio shows on Red Light Radio. His mix for us is an exploration of deeply hypnotic sounds and dreamy breakbeats to slowly but surely wake you up right at the start of the week. Once you’re in the groove, there is space travelling electro and beautifully delicate melodic techno that continues to sooth your soul as you journey through the cosmos and off to a better place.
