God is in his Holy Temple. Yes we know. A chill just ran up your spine because you were reminded of the evil Reverend Kane from Poltergeist 2: The Other Side. This character gave people around the world nightmares for life and when we look back at the film all these years later, it is still horrifying. Well Kane is at least. The rest not so much. Studio interference was a big factor with the final cut of this movie which was originally 130 minutes and they chopped it down to 90 for some reason. Too bad that the missing scenes are probably lost forever. We can only hope that it is one day found. While having a tough act to follow, this one still holds its own. As much as I love the Kane character, I wish they kept the original explanation for the haunting instead of having it now shifted to one person. Not really sure how they built a house on top of a graveyard that was also on top of another graveyard. Shady contractors I guess? Grab some Tequila, put on some war paint, and cue up the movie to watch along in real time with us as we swallow the worm that is... Poltergeist 2: The Other Side.

George Tani , later to become Screaming Mad George, was born in Japan and headed out to seek his fortune in New York at the age of eighteen. Thus began an incredible story leading to his becoming a major makeup artist in Hollywood long before computer graphics rendered that art form obsolete. From his awakening through Salvador Dali's work to his punk rock band and on to a series of serendipity he landed on his feet with the major makeup artists of the era in Los Angeles. They mentored him as he worked for free as an assistant that led to his beginning a very successful career in that industry. From The Howling, American Werewolf and on to Cocoon he was introduced to an entirely new form of horror and SF surrrealism that he was totally ready to do something with. George is a great example of a man who learned as he moved and shows us how an artist can never really stand still. His time in the US with nine years in New York and two decades in L.A. finally led him back to Japan where he now teaches his skills to others.
