Les, Kurt, and Jason haven't stopped referencing the Hulu limited series Good American Family about the family that adopted Natalia Grace, so this week they decided to actually watch an episode for the podcast! But first, Les started texting EVERYONE to let them know about his perfect colon (obviously), and Kurt has some Blac Chyna news… as well as some Donny Most news! Plus, Jason vision boards his dream lineup of guests for the podcast: an episode featuring Blac Chyna, Natalia Grace, and the Pornhub math guy. Then it's time to spill some seed, rock out to Hey Soul Sister, and meet a young Zelda Rubinstein in the first episode of Good American Family. Let's just say the title is presumptious. But what the show may lack in “good execution” it makes up for with the speed of Florence Griffith Joyner, and the strength of Bam Bam Rubble doing parkour whilst eating pancake burritos on the beach.    Bluesky: lifetimeofhallmark Facebook : lifetimeofhallmark Instagram : lifetimeofhallmarkpodcast Threads: lifetimeofhallmarkpodcast TikTok: lifetimeofhallmarkpod Theme song generously donated by purple-planet.com

Poltergeist may very well be the definition of "Mama Slay Cinema" with JoBeth Williams, Beatrice Straight and the legendary Zelda Rubinstein bustin' ghosts and saving the children from the other side. Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper re-wrote the haunted house trope bringing it to a brand new house in a sleepy  suburb and a generation never looked at a staticy T.V. the same way again. The creepy lullaby score by Jerry Goldsmith only adds to the Amblin-esque quality of this '80s classic and not for nothing but Craig T. The Blind Rage podcast: Horror Movie Commentaries

Happy birthday to me… To celebrate my special day, Tony suggested we watch the classic cult comedy TEEN WITCH. If you were a child of the ‘80s, you knew this movie—and quite well—due to it's heavy rotation on HBO, then The Disney Channel a few years later. On a dark and stormy night, Louise Miller (Robyn Lively) visits a local clairvoyant (Zelda Rubinstein), who warns her that as her 16th birthday approaches, “strange things will start to happen.” With the help of spells and incantations, Louise discovers the perfect way to handle an English teacher bent on humiliating her, how to attract the boy of her dreams (Dan Gauthier), and ultimately, how to become the most popular girl. As is the case with many of the movies featured on The Blind Rage Podcast, TEEN WITCH tanked at the box office, but found its audience on cable and VHS. Since then, it has gone on to be considered a quintessential ‘80s classic. Top that! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/blindragepod/message

The production of "Anguish" in 1987 was a unique and ambitious endeavor that brought together a talented team led by director Bigas Luna. The film is notable for its innovative approach to storytelling and its exploration of psychological horror, which set it apart from conventional horror movies of its time. Director Bigas Luna, known for his distinctive and imaginative filmmaking style, carefully crafted a gripping narrative that delved into the complexities of the human mind. Luna's vision for the film was to create a suspenseful and psychologically disturbing experience that would challenge and intrigue the audience. Zelda Rubinstein's portrayal of Alice Pressman, the troubled mother, was a central element in bringing the character to life. Her performance added depth and authenticity to the portrayal of mental illness, adding to the film's unsettling atmosphere. The production also benefited from the cinematography of José Luis Alcaine, who effectively captured the eerie and claustrophobic tone of the film. The use of lighting and camera angles heightened the sense of unease and suspense throughout the movie. In terms of practical effects, the film employed practical gore and special effects to depict the gruesome murders, adding to the visceral impact of the horror elements. The combination of practical effects and psychological terror helped create an immersive and chilling experience for the viewers. While "Anguish" didn't receive mainstream commercial success, it garnered a cult following among horror enthusiasts for its unique storytelling, strong performances, and atmospheric direction. Over the years, the film has become a cult classic, celebrated for its innovative take on the horror genre and its exploration of the human psyche. The story revolves around a deeply disturbed mother named Alice Pressman, portrayed by Zelda Rubinstein. Alice suffers from a severe mental illness, bordering on schizophrenia, and her condition is fueled by a haunting past trauma. Obsessed with the idea that her own eyes are failing, Alice becomes fixated on the notion that she needs fresh human eyes to preserve her sight. She pressures her introverted and impressionable son, John (played by Michael Lerner), into helping her carry out a series of gruesome murders to obtain the necessary eyes. As John becomes increasingly entangled in his mother's delusions, the lines between reality and fantasy blur, driving him to the brink of madness. As the body count rises, a local police detective starts investigating the peculiar string of murders, eventually closing in on the Pressman household. The film delves deep into the twisted dynamics of a dysfunctional mother-son relationship and explores the unsettling power of a deteriorating mind. With a chilling atmosphere and a psychological rollercoaster at its core, "Anguish" delivers a gripping and haunting tale of horror that leaves audiences questioning the nature of sanity and the depths of human darkness. thevhsstrikesback@gmail.com https://linktr.ee/vhsstrikesback --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thevhsstrikesback/support

Music - Ambient Background Music - Cicada 3301 - CO.AG Music The story behind the screams - The Seaford Poltergeist - Poltergeist 1982Movie Plot - The Freelings are a typical suburban family. Husband Steve sells real estate in their ever-expanding subdivision and Diane is a stay-at-home mom caring for their three kids, Dana, Robbie, and little Carol Anne. Strange things begin to happen in the house, however: cupboard doors open on their own, furniture rearranges itself and chairs go sliding across the kitchen floor. It's a bit of whimsy at first but soon becomes deadly severe when Carol Anne vanishes into a nether world where, oddly, she can only be communicated with through the white noise on their television. A team of paranormal investigators moves into the house. Still, the forces that kidnapped are evil and powerful requiring the services of Tangina, a woman who has dealt with this situation before.Real-life Story The Seaford ‘poltergeist' was an episode of unexplained disturbances reported by a family in Seaford, Long Island, New York, in 1958. The incidents, which were widely publicized, included bottles losing their tops and spilling contents, and household objects and furniture moving with no apparent cause. Investigating parapsychologists attributed the cause to psychokinesis centering on a 12-year-old boy, while skeptics offered explanations in terms of trickery.Crazy Movie Trivia Two of the film's cast members were subsequently murdered: (1) Dominique Dunne (Dana Freeling) was strangled by her former boyfriend John Thomas Sweeney in the driveway of her West Hollywood home on October 30, 1982, and, having been declared brain dead, died five days later at the age of 22 and (2) Lou Perryman (Pugsley) was killed with an ax by a 26-year-old man named Seth Christopher Tatum in Austin, Texas on April 1, 2009. He was 67 years old at the time of his death.JoBeth Williams had a supernatural experience during the making of the film. Whenever she came home from filming, the pictures on the walls of her house were crooked. Every time she fixed them they would hang crooked again. Zelda Rubinstein also had an experience when a vision of her dog came to her and said goodbye to her. Hours later, her mother called her and told Rubinstein that her dog had passed away that very day. Julian Beck (Kane in Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986)) died in 1985 after a long battle with stomach cancer; Will Sampson (Taylor in Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986)) died of complications from a heart-lung transplant; and Heather O'Rourke (Carol Anne in all three movies) died in 1988 at age 12 from cardiac arrest caused by septic shock from a bowel obstruction caused by intestinal stenosis after being misdiagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 1987.Leave a rate/review if you enjoyed this episode. HALLOWEEEEEEEN!!! Today is the best day of the year, so the Brides are dropping one heck of a fun episode. Today we're going into the light and chatting all things Poltergeist! This is one of the rare horror movies that's both incredibly creepy and very, very funny, with a lot of surprisingly wholesome family dynamics. Perhaps that's because Stephen Spielberg wrote the script and also claimed he directed most of it (and then had to apologize to the ACTUAL director, legend Tobe Hooper). In this episode the Brides discuss how fun the family seems, how you always need to move the bodies and the headstones when you're building a development next to a graveyard, and the absolute uselessness of the older daughter. Seriously, she spends the entire movie running off to her boyfriends' house. Of course, we must bow down to ultimate movie psychic, Zelda Rubinstein, who walks into the movie halfway through and walks away with our hearts. Also, we take a moment to completely rip apart the BS myth that the movie is "cursed" because, hi, actual people died and it's super disrespectful. HAPPY HALLOWEEN, stay safe out there ya freaks! This episode contains brief discussion of domestic abuse and murder. Rest well, Dominique Dunne and Heather O'Rourke.
