On today's show, Stephen Fenech discusses the latest technology news. Later, Roland Chrystal discusses the recent Queensland Supreme Court ruling that the State's mandatory vaccination orders were unlawful. GUEST 1 OVERVIEW: Stephen Fenech is the Editor of Tech Guide and one of Australia's most respected tech journalists. He is a regular on radio and TV talking about the latest tech news, products and trends. X: @StephenFenech GUEST 2 OVERVIEW: Roland Chrystal joined the NSW Police Force as a fresh-faced 19-year-old in 1990 yet walked out unceremoniously in July 2021 after 31 years, well before the mandates, but unwilling to enforce Public Health Orders and what he considered the destruction of human rights. He finally reluctantly resigned on 5 October 2021 to stand with the public who are rightly in distress over the vaccine mandates, and the police enforcement of the Public Health Orders.

My guest this week is Lex Acker, a Chartered Financial Analyst. He has done a deep dive into Financial Reports of the BC Nurses Union (BCNU), and the failure of the union to protect its members from the vaccine mandates imposed by BC Public Health Officer Bonnie Henry and BC Health Minister Adrian Dix. BC's failing healthcare system, severe shortage of nurses and soaring costs are the direct result of the mandates. We discuss Lex's substack article https://freedomandinvesting.substack.com/p/at-least-4762-97-missing-nurses-because and the implications of the BC government's financial contributions to the BCNU. On today's show, Craig Kelly Vindicated in his AEC case, ︎The Commissioner of the Australian Electoral Commission, Tom Rogers must apologise to Australian taxpayers for AEC abusing their powers & shredding the AEC's reputation and wasting taxpayers money by running such a frivolous & malicious prosecution over a font size. Later, Roland Crystal discusses why the voice yes vote is problematic for law enforcement. GUEST 1 OVERVIEW: Craig Kelly is United Australia Party National Director. Kelly initially entered politics as a member of the Liberal Party of Australia, and was elected to the Australian House of Representatives at the 2010 federal election, as a member of parliament (MP) for the division of Hughes. He resigned from the Liberal Party in February 2021 to sit on the crossbench as an independent politician, before announcing that he was joining the United Australia Party in August of that year, and was appointed as the party's leader. GUEST 2 OVERVIEW: Roland Chrystal joined the NSW Police Force as a fresh faced 19 year old in 1990 yet walked out unceremoniously in July 2021 after 31 years, well before the mandates, but unwilling to enforce PHOs and what he considered the destruction of human rights. He finally reluctantly resigned on 5th of October 2021 to stand with the public who are rightly in distress over the vaccine mandates, and the police enforcement of the Public Health Orders. There are many decent police, but they are effectively gagged. It is for that reason, along with the now coercion of those remaining to accept the vaccine, that I have chosen to resign and be able to honour my Oath to protect the public without fear or favour. Our cause must always be peaceful, based in love, empathy, wisdom and uncensored fact.

Serious Shot Season 2, Episode 1 Constituents of Jefferson County learned from CORA requests that Dawn Comstock, as a member of the Board of Health, led the hiring committee for a Director of Jefferson County Public Health and hired herself as the Director in February 2021. This was just the beginning of her unethical behavior supporting a basis for her resignation or removal. Despite Comstock clashing with parents, schools, businesses, and the sheriff, the County Commissioners have taken no action to date to replace Comstock with a responsible public health director. This podcast details a dozen reasons for people to demand the resignation of Comstock. In August 2021, emails showed how Comstock intimidated the Jefferson County School District Superintendent Dorland to impose mandates that she was not willing to impose herself for fear of lawsuits. Comstock also equates not wearing masks to bringing guns to schools, and then doubled down with her threats for Jefferson County Schools to include banning unvaccinated people from public places and banning extracurricular activities. Parents, we need you to take action. In September 2021, Comstock led a witch-hunt in the JCPH lawsuit against three small Christian schools in Jefferson County for alleged mask mandate violations. The lawsuit was dropped due to the schools' compliance. Health funds were wasted on this targeted lawsuit. Lawyers and Educators, we need you to take action. In December 2021, Comstock advised the public not to shop at Jefferson County businesses, but to go to other counties with higher vaccination rates and higher mask compliance. Business leaders, we need you to take action. How to help Listen to this podcast and learn how to engage with the Jefferson County Board of Health before the situation gets worse. There is a plan to send students home to remote learning in Jefferson County if teachers reach a 25% absentee level, and teachers are currently at 20% absentee levels in some schools. Demand that Comstock resigns, and a qualified physician to write Public Health Orders replaces her immediately. 00:24 - Introduction 5:17 - JeffCo Demographics/Background of Movement 6:37 - Dawn Comstock in JeffCo/Gilpin Counties 7:23 - Data not driving Comstock Decisions 10:33 - CORA Comstock emails to Superintendent 15:46 - How Comstock became Public Health Director 21:41 - Comstock targets Christian Schools 27:50 - Protest at JCPH Headquarters 31:25 - Turmoil amongst elected officials re: Dawn Comstock 32:28 -JeffCo Rules Today 35:15 - Comstock and Youth Sports as the Downfall of our Society 39:33 - Final Comments/How to get involved

Admitted to the Victorian Bar in 1986, Greg has been very vocal against human rights abuses and has called for Australia to adopt a Bill of Rights to protect both its citizens and journalists who are tasked with scrutinising governments. He continues to practise as a barrister, lecture in law at RMIT and write for various publications. In this interview we discussed the erosion of human rights by powerful executive governments in their desperation to respond to Covid-19. Importantly, Greg stresses that the decline in human rights we are witnessing in Australia started long before and pandemic. ------------------------------------------- New Orwellian Identify and Disrupt Laws https://youtu.be/23dP7JEPxWA GREG BARNS SC https://twitter.com/BarnsGreg https://www.linkedin.com/in/greg-barns-sc-8a898773 https://www.booktopia.com.au/rise-of-the-right-greg-barns/book/9781743795422.html DISCERNABLE Our Private Community: discernable.locals.com The Crew Mailing List: https://discernable.io/crew The Video Archive: https://www.youtube.com/discernable The Podcast: http://discernable.io/listen ------------------------------------------- 1:15 The slow death of human rights 2:42 The Orwellian Identify and Disrupt laws now passed 3:59 Why our laws are becoming more intrusive 5:57 Selective anger over freedoms 7:33 Positive Justice vs Natural Justice 9:41 Australia has become legislation happy 12:37 Covid laws that will be used in other contexts 14:58 Making draconian regulations permanent features 16:33 Public Health Orders are not subject to scrutiny and are difficult to access 18:14 Covid ‘laws' are unfair 20:22 How courts view Chief Health Officer directives 23:40 Predictions and solutions for the future of Australian human rights 31:01 Examples of major legislation reform in Australia 32:33 The enormous powers police have 34:17 What do police want? 36:27 The new outrageous conditions of bail wielded by police 39:07 The result of heavy-handed governance 41:40 Why the police target lower socio-economic areas

FULL STATEMENT FROM NSW POLICE TO TRIPLE M: Last night (Thursday 9 September 2021), officers from Mid North Coast Police District received reports that a 22-year-old woman had failed to isolate after a positive COVID-19 test and was travelling by train from Strathfield to Coffs Harbour with her three children. Officers from Mid North Coast Police District stopped the train at Kempsey about 10.40pm and removed the woman and her children from the train, before they were taken by NSW Ambulance paramedics to a special health hotel at Port Macquarie, where they will quarantine. Following further inquiries, the 17 passengers and six crew on board at the time were also taken to the quarantine hotel, where they remain under the care of NSW Health. Other passengers who alighted the train at stations previously in the journey are being contacted by NSW Health. The officers involved are being managed in line with requirements in the Public Health Orders. Inquiries are being conducted into the incident, including potential breaches of the public health order. Statement from Stewart Dowrick, Chief Executive Mid North Coast Local Health District: Mid North Coast Local Health District is providing care and support to a COVID-19 positive woman and her children who travelled to the region overnight. The woman and her children are now isolating in special accommodation. This is not a local COVID-19 case and there has been no local transmission within our community. A number of close contacts have been identified and are also in isolation. Public Health investigations are ongoing. We ask the community to please remain vigilant and continue to practise COVID-safe measures at all times. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Rosemary Henzell emphasises the role of teachers in supporting students and colleagues in this difficult and unusual setting... This is Part III in a three-part special series recorded during the Coronavirus situation and Public Health Orders affecting NSW. “It's just saying to students ‘I'm here and its going to be okay' and I think we do become an important anchor figure for our students in some way. So, lots of little affirmations, however we can do that for our students, whatever platforms they are on, whatever resources they are engaging with, if we can find ways to show they are important to us and we are here and we want to know how they are. That is going to encourage them to come to class and to log on and to join in... As much as we can we want to maintain routines that support them and we want to normalise things as much as we can because we know that other things are out of our control.” For information about CPL Podcast contributors, as well as Off Class episodes, Journal of Professional Learning articles and Centre for Professional Learning courses, please visit our website www.cpl.asn.au
Rosemary Henzell reflects on the challenges of the online environment and the importance of noticing all your students and their learning... This is Part II in a three-part special series recorded during the Coronavirus situation and Public Health Orders affecting NSW. “One of my biggest takeaways from last year was the sense of being blind. I think we underestimated how much data we get from being in the classroom that we don't even realise that we are taking in... I think we've all had to be quite creative with the way we have had to fill in those gaps. It's hard and that's the first thing we need to understand and remember... Assessment in the broadest possible sense is crucial right now... Those opportunities that we have in the online environment with interactive documents can be really helpful, and we can also do it with group projects... Having a couple of bigger things that we are working towards, I think that normalises the online environment for them, they have an expectation that we will work towards something and they will have to produce something...” For information about CPL Podcast contributors, as well as Off Class episodes, Journal of Professional Learning articles and Centre for Professional Learning courses, please visit our website www.cpl.asn.au
Rosemary Henzell shares her experiences setting up manageable online lessons and plans... This is Part I in a three-part special series recorded during the Coronavirus situation and Public Health Orders affecting NSW. “We know we try to be organised always, but I think we can actually be a little bit more responsive in the classroom environment... I began to use a digital planner for every class... it relaxed everybody and everyone knew they could feel prepared and they would know what was coming.... Students became so overwhelmed by the number of platforms and documents that they were being asked to navigate... We've got to find what works for us and experiment with a number of different things until we find what really suits us....” For information about CPL Podcast contributors, as well as Off Class episodes, Journal of Professional Learning articles and Centre for Professional Learning courses, please visit our website www.cpl.asn.au
Alas, some good news! The Berejiklian government has announced a lifeline for live music and arts organisations punished by snap lockdowns. On Wednesday morning (July 14), New South Wales officials unveiled a $75 million stimulus package for the ailing live and performing arts industries, targeting small-medium businesses and workers “impacted by the cancellation of shows due to current COVID-19 restrictions,” a statement reads. The financial support will be delivered in two phases – immediately and later, to help organisations reschedule dates — and is meant to help venues and the performing arts to “continue paying staff and performers, and provide support for loss of box office income where shows have been affected by Public Health Orders.” Create NSW will administer the funds. Select not-for-profits and commercial organisations will be eligible, including those with “heavy reliance” on box office income, including businesses that were were staging, or prepping performances during the lockdown period, including “some live music venues.” For those who meet the criteria, evidence of performances scheduled, venues and average ticket prices will be required. Late Wednesday, APRA AMCOS, ARIA and PPCA issued a joint-statement welcoming the “much-needed” COVID-19 fighting fund. “First to be fired, last to be hired, delivering immediate Covid-19 financial assistance for artists and music industry businesses will be a critical lifeline to our industry right now as many artists, venues and events face the complete loss of income for the foreseeable future,” comments Dean Ormston, APRA AMCOS Chief Executive. “We look forward to working with both governments to ensure ongoing support is delivered where it's needed most.” “ARIA and PPCA wholeheartedly welcome any government support in this highly destabilising time and it is encouraging to see the cultural and economic contribution of Australian music recognised,” adds Annabelle Herd, ARIA and PPCA Chief Executive Office. “This is a great start, but as the situation continues to unfold we need to ensure adequate support is provided across all sectors of Australian music, and of course we need to find sustainable ways to reopen, rebuild and grow.” The cash couldn't have come at a better time. With federal handouts ending in March, and Sydney facing the prospect of a lengthy, miserable lockdown due to the spread of the highly infectious Delta variant, money is tight for performers. Covid kicks off the podcast again this week, unfortunately, but with both Sydney and Melbourne shut down it's the first thing that springs to everyone's mind. However there are some new talking points – like the surprisingly handy Strata Covid Toolkit produced by the NSW government last weekend, which we highly recommend. Then, just when they've final acquired some Flat Chat Brownie points, the NSW government goes and stuffs it up by issuing Public Health Orders about who can work where, completely ignoring strata and the people who run it. LISTEN HERE The in some non-covid chat (praise be!), we talk about some of the astronomical prices being paid for apartments in the Crown tower at Barangaroo. And we recall spending a night in one of the poshest (and worst laid-out) penthouses in Sydney. Then we discover “zoom rooms”, the new name for that awkward corner of apartments that developers don't know what to do with. Too small to be a study, too impractical to be anything other than a cupboard, now it's the potential hub of your burgeoning media career. As our picture of US broadcaster Ira Glass (purloined from Medium.com) shows, you don't need a special room – just a wardrobe with a desk and lots of noise-absorbing clothes. Sue also introduces us to once-desirable areas where rents are 30 per cent lower than they were five years ago. And we get the inside running on the sale of a disgraced League player's Parra pad. That's all in this week's Flat Chat Wrap. TRANSCRIPT IN FULL Jimmy 0:00 I feel like we're in double duty this week, because we were on Amanda Farmer's podcast, where everybody actually got to see us for a change. Sue 0:09 Yes. Amanda looks so glamorous and we both looked like we just got out of bed. Jimmy 0:15 Well, you had! She does look very glamorous. It was interesting and quite challenging, the three of us trying to speak, all at the same time, often. We still managed to get through a fair bit of material. Today, we've got a few things to talk about. We've got the new strata toolkit from the New South Wales Government. I noticed it's branded 'government,' not health and definitely not Fair Trading. We've got some confusing messages coming out in the public health orders and you've got some stories about rents and the sales of fabulous apartments. Sue 0:57 Yes, that's right. Jimmy 0:58 I'm Jimmy Thomson. I write the Flat Chat column for the Australian Financial Review. Sue 1:04 And I'm Sue Williams and I write about property for Domain. Jimmy 1:07 And this is the Flat Chat Wrap. Late on Friday night (which seems to be when they release anything that has to do anything with strata), the New South Wales government released its strata managers and committees COVID-19 handbook. Sue 1:37 Fantastic. Jimmy 1:38 I'm sorry, it's a toolkit. It's not a handbook, it's a toolkit. Sue 1:41 That's great, isn't it? Isn't that the first time they've done very much for strata people? Jimmy 1:47 Well, yeah. It's kind of like they keep forgetting that we exist and keep forgetting that it's a big chunk of the population and issuing all these very specific rules that leave us out, a lot of the time. We've had the whole thing about wearing a mask inside, but your home is being excluded. They didn't define whether that was apartment buildings, or apartments or whateve, so they brought out this toolkit, which I think looks pretty good. Sue 2:17 Great. What kinds of things does it involve? Jimmy 2:20 Well, there are things like the posters for putting up. You download them as PDFs, you print them and you stick them up in your lifts and on your notice boards and on your doors. And, they're quite specific; they're saying you must wear a mask. Sue 2:37 Oh, good. So there's no two ways about it? Jimmy 2:39 Yeah. What they don't have is the thing saying it's a condi...

Tickets will go on sale starting July 2, 2021 on BalloonFiesta.com. The 49thevent has more than 600 hot air balloons registered to participate. On April 28, 2021, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham updated the Public Health Orders. “The biggest thing for Balloon Fiesta is the Governor's expectation that we'll have 60 percent of New Mexico inoculated by the end of June,” says Paul Smith, executive director of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. “When that happens the red to green to turquoise framework should go away along with all the capacity restrictions. That means the current guidelines will be much more flexible for events like Balloon Fiesta.” Even with the current updates to the Public Health Order, Balloon Fiesta's leadership continues to work with the State of New Mexico to develop COVID Safe Practices (CSPs) that will enable outdoor festivals and in particular Balloon Fiesta to operate safely and within the parameters of those orders. Among several changes for this year, Sam Parks said guest experience and crowd control will be included. “Concerning the onsite guest experience, we are looking at designing approaches to space out concessionaires around the field,” says Sam Parks, director of operations for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. “We are also looking at spreading out the popular special shape balloons around the 70-acre launch field, so not to have them all inflate on the same part of the park.” The next update will be posted on BalloonFiesta.com on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
