California homeowners are facing a growing wildfire insurance crisis. With rising rates, reduced coverage options, and increased wildfire risk due to climate change and inflation, understanding your insurance options is more important than ever. In this episode of the All Things Wildfire podcast, host OP Almaraz speaks with Sharon Smith, Outreach Analyst at the California Department of Insurance, to discuss the challenges, solutions, and legislative changes shaping wildfire coverage in California. Why Wildfire Insurance Rates Are Rising in California Wildfire insurance premiums are increasing due to multiple factors: Climate change is driving more frequent and severe wildfires. Inflation has pushed up construction and repair costs. Outdated regulations under Proposition 103 have made it difficult for insurers to adapt pricing to today's risks. Sharon explains why Prop 103 needs modernization to better protect homeowners and keep insurance available in high-risk fire zones. Understanding Proposition 103 and Its Impact Proposition 103 is a decades-old regulation that governs how insurance rates are approved in California. While it was designed to protect consumers, many experts argue it hasn't evolved to address the current wildfire landscape. Modernizing Prop 103 could help stabilize the insurance market while ensuring fair treatment for policyholders. The Safer from Wildfires Program The Safer from Wildfires program is a state-led initiative to improve home resilience against wildfire damage. By completing specific home-hardening measures, homeowners may: Reduce their risk of fire damage. Qualify for potential insurance discounts. Increase their chances of keeping existing coverage. The California Fair Plan: Last-Resort Coverage For homeowners unable to find traditional coverage, the California Fair Plan acts as a safety net. However, it's meant as a temporary solution. Modernizing the Fair Plan is essential, especially for high-value homes that require broader protection. Admitted vs. Non-Admitted Insurance Carriers Understanding the difference between admitted insurance carriers (regulated by the state) and non-admitted carriers (not backed by the state's guarantee fund) is critical when comparing wildfire insurance policies. Sharon provides insights on the pros and cons of each option. Smoke Remediation and New Task Force Efforts Smoke damage after a wildfire can create serious health hazards. The California Department of Insurance has established a task force to address smoke remediation standards, helping homeowners get better results from their claims and contractors. Legislative Changes and Homeowner Resources Sharon discusses new legislative proposals designed to: Ease the recovery process after a wildfire. Improve claims handling by insurance companies. Provide more resources to homeowners navigating wildfire-related claims. The California Department of Insurance offers free resources to help property owners understand their rights, find coverage, and take preventive measures. Our mission is to share hope, not affiliation."About M2 THE ROCK - MICHAEL MOLTHAN:I'm Michael Molthan, host of The M2 The Rock Show—one of the fastest-growing podcasts and shows on self-improvement, mental health, addiction recovery, and spiritual transformation. I'm so grateful you're here.I started M2 The Rock in 2017 to bring you conversations designed to make you happier, healthier, and more healed. Through raw and unfiltered discussions with experts, celebrities, thought leaders, and athletes, we uncover new perspectives on personal growth, recovery, and overcoming life's toughest challenges. My Story:What sets my journey apart is that there wasn't just one rock bottom—there were many. From being a successful luxury homebuilder to falling into addiction, homelessness, crime, and eventually 27 mugshots and prison, my life was in absolute chaos.Addiction was my temporary escape from childhood trauma, but it only led to destruction. It wasn't until I hit the lowest point imaginable that I finally found true freedom, redemption, and purpose. After an unexpected early release from prison in 2017, I walked 300 miles back to Dallas to turn myself in—only to be miraculously pardoned and told to “pay it forward.”And that's exactly what I've been doing ever since. My MissionI believe that rock bottom is not the end—it's a stepping stone to something greater. My goal is to redefine what "rock bottom" means by helping others rebuild their Spirit, Mind, and Body. On M2 The Rock, I speak openly about trauma, addiction, recovery, and the power of transformation. I don't shy away from topics like:✅ Trauma & Addiction – Understanding the root causes✅ Self-Sabotage & Mental Health – Breaking negative cycles✅ Codependency & Enabling – How relationships impact recovery✅ 12-Step Programs & Spiritual Healing – Finding true freedom✅ Religious Trauma & Personal Growth – Healing from past wounds"Everyone Is An Addict."Whether it's substances, work, validation, or negative thinking, we all have something we struggle with. But recovery is possible, and transformation is real.

In this episode of the Admittedly Podcast, host Thomas Caleel addresses student athletes—and the families supporting them. Whether you're competing at the national level or playing for the love of the game, it's time to unpack how admissions officers actually view athletics. Thomas breaks down the value of sports in college admissions, the expectations student athletes must meet, and why athletic ability alone won't carry you through the process. He offers guidance for both recruited and non-recruited athletes—and reminds listeners that sports are one part of a much bigger admissions picture. Key Takeaways: Athletics Aren't a Free Pass: No one gets into top schools just for being good at a sport. The strongest athletic applicants have rock-solid academics and clear stories beyond the field. Recruited or Not, the Work's on You: Coaches are building teams, not handing out admissions letters. You need to communicate, self-advocate, and show who you are outside of your sport. Go Beyond the Game: Branch out into leadership, service, or mentorship. Coach younger students, join clubs, or connect with causes that matter to you. Being a one-dimensional applicant isn't enough. Think Carefully About That Essay: Injury? Tough loss? Yes, it's personal—but it's also common. If you're writing about sports, make sure your voice and perspective are uniquely yours. Whether you're aiming for recruitment or just trying to showcase the full picture of who you are, remember: admissions officers want well-rounded, self-aware students. Sports may be a big part of your life, but they shouldn't be the only thing that defines you. Are you balancing sports and academics? Wondering what's next for your student-athlete journey? In this episode of the Concrete Logic Podcast, Seth Tandett breaks down the 2010 “State-of-the-Art Report on Use of Limestone in Cements” that helped launch Portland Limestone Cement (PLC) into the U.S. market. You'll hear what the report got right, what it left out, and why Europe's cement playbook may not fit American concrete. If you're in the industry, this episode will help you question the assumptions behind the biggest cement shift in decades. Takeaways What happens to concrete strength when limestone content isn't properly optimized? Could higher limestone levels reduce your mix's sulfate resistance? How does increased limestone affect carbonation depth and long-term durability? Is PLC more likely to cause long-term shrinkage or expansion issues? Why are curing practices in Europe so different—and does it matter? How critical is mix design when using PLC instead of traditional cement? Are we relying on research we haven't actually read or fully understood? Friends, do not miss this episode. In its entirety. ---Michele Gower was raised in a loving, middle-class family in Sydney, Australia. Though baptized in the Church of England, religion played little role in her early life. Her parents were kind, community-oriented people but had no strong religious beliefs. As a teenager, she chased popularity, partied on weekends, dabbled in light drugs, and barely got by in school. Yet she remained active in sports, volunteered, and was known as a loyal friend. At 17, she met Rohan—a respectful, calm young man whose peaceful nature stood out. The following year, her life shattered when her father died suddenly of a heart attack the morning after her graduation. From that moment, she rejected the idea of a loving God, asking bitterly, “What kind of God would take a father from his daughter on her graduation day?”As adulthood unfolded, she and Rohan got married, had four children, and settled into a life on the Central Coast. Though she had no faith, she supported the decision to send their children to Catholic school. Her husband had been raised Catholic, and she assumed he could guide them spiritually. Over time, she began to feel strangely moved during school Masses. Often, she would sit in church and cry without understanding why. While she appreciated the values of kindness and service taught in the Catholic school, she was simultaneously diving deeper into New Age spirituality—tarot, clairvoyants, energy healing, and a fascination with the supernatural. The more she pursued these practices, the more her connection to reality began to fray.Eventually, she experienced a complete breakdown. Voices, paranoia, terrifying visions, and a crushing emptiness took over her mind. Admitted to a mental health facility, she was heavily medicated and nearly unrecognizable to her loved ones. But one day, sitting alone by a locked glass door, she felt an overwhelming warmth fill her chest—a powerful, soul-filling explosion of light. In that moment, she heard a message in her heart: “Convert to the Catholic Faith, and you and your family will be saved.” Though she didn't fully understand it, that moment marked a turning point. She began to believe that God was real—and that He was reaching out to her in mercy. The weeks leading up to her reception into the Church were filled with intense spiritual battles. Demonic attacks, confusion, and despair tried to derail her. But friends who understood the dangers of the occult prayed with her, taught her to say the Rosary, and reminded her that God never lets go of His children. Through Confession and the Eucharist, she began to heal. The torment in her mind lifted, layer by layer. She experienced true peace for the first time in her life—peace that surpassed all understanding. Slowly, the angry, obsessive, controlling version of herself faded, replaced by someone more joyful, grounded, and free...#CatholicConversion #ExNewAge #JesusSavedMe #SpiritualWarfare #DeliveredFromDarkness #FromNewAgeToJesus #CatholicTestimony #OccultToChrist #EucharisticHealing #LeavingTheOccult #ChristianTestimony #FreedomInChrist #Catholic #CatholicFaithJourney #AmazingGrace▶To support this channel, visit eddietrask.com/sponsorship

Send us a textStep 5 in faith-based recovery programs outlines how you will grow by admitting to God, oneself, and another person the exact nature of your wrongs. This step is pivotal as it embodies the principles of confession and accountability, which are foundational in Biblical teachings and essential for true healing and transformation.Participants in engaging with Step 5 are encouraged to embrace humility and honesty. This act of opening up is not merely about acknowledging past mistakes; it is a profound exercise in trust and vulnerability, allowing individuals to experience the liberating power of God's grace in a tangible way. As they share their deepest faults and failures, they step out of isolation and into community, fostering deep connections that are vital for sustained recovery. This step is often described as challenging yet incredibly rewarding, for it paves the way for spiritual renewal and personal growth. It is a decisive move towards reconciliation—with God, with others, and with oneself. As a pastor, I would emphasize the courage it takes to confront and confess one's shortcomings, and I would affirm the immense strength found in the fellowship of believers and the unconditional love of God that meets us in our moments of openness and genuine repentance. If you want to learn more about the recovery journey, please check out my recently released book, titled “God Took Me to Las Vegas…..to Get Sober” – go here to learn more about my memoir: https://godtookmetolasvegas.com/ acourageousrecovery.com
1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol — that our lives had become unmanageable.2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

This week on Tis the Podcast, the elves are back to keep the Christmas spirit alive all summer long! Tom, Julia, and Anthony dive into three festive episodes of Last Man Standing, sharing laughs, hot takes, and a few heartfelt moments along the way. First, the crew unpacks “The Gift of the Wise Man,” where Mike Baxter's attempt to delegate Christmas duties goes hilariously off the rails—think fake family Christmas letters, a nativity scene reimagined as the “Everytivity,” and the chaos that ensues when control is handed over to the rest of the Baxter clan. Next, they tackle “My Name is Rob,” an episode that brings Eve home from the Air Force Academy with her new boyfriend, Rob. The hosts discuss the show's sometimes heavy-handed approach to serious topics and how the dynamics between the Baxter sisters have evolved over the seasons. Finally, the team reviews “The Gift of the Mike Guy,” highlighting cast changes, the bittersweet humor of naming streets after the living, and the heartwarming tradition of decorating the family tree—even if the new Mandy's energy just isn't quite the same. Along the way, there's talk of summer reading by the pool, the latest Superman trailer, and the eternal debate over the best hot cocoa recipe. We'd love to hear from you - share your own holiday drink secrets (but beware: Swiss Miss fans need not apply). Tune in for a blend of nostalgia, critique, and Christmas cheer—no matter what the calendar says!

In the 890th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway, Mike Holtz, and Kyna England talk about admitted poker cheat Ali Imsirovic being DQ'ed mid-tournament from an event in Florida. Was it the right thing to do? It was a highly debated development, and the crew dove headfirst into the drama by discussing a poker black list, what bestbet Jacksonville could've done differently, and if poker pariahs could even be welcomed back to the game. They then give an update on Tom Dwan, whose recent social media posts really concerned the poker community, and then Connor Richards headed to PokerGO Studio to chat with the controversial Haliey “Hawk Tuah Girl” Welch and others at the Celebrity Poker Tour (CPT) Game Night VI. From there, it's highlights from the Hustler Casino Live (HCL) Million Dollar Game III, such as old-school player Erick Lindgren satelliting his way in, Texas Mike's wild ride, and an interview with Steve! Oh, and we'd be remiss if we didn't talk about that epic hand between Alan Keating and Peter. Mike then talks about making a final table at the Venetian and playing with Batman at a recent Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) event, Brad Gafford and John Juanda both won tournaments, and poker media veteran Paul Oresteen talks about his new Substack, which you can subscribe to here. Finally, PokerStars North America has introduced a dozen new "Throwables" and the PokerNews Podcast crew not only shares their favorites, but they also offer fans of the show an opportunity to win some just by either listening to or watching the podcast. Consciousness of Guilt What Karen Read May Have Admitted Before the Body Was Found What someone says in a moment of panic can speak louder than any forensic expert. In this episode, we revisit the moment Karen Read allegedly asked “Did I hit him?” before John O'Keefe's body was discovered — and what that reveals about her state of mind. Former prosecutor Eric Faddis joins us to discuss the legal doctrine of consciousness of guilt and why Karen's early comments might be more damaging than the defense admits. We analyze the timing of her remarks, her decision to point out a broken taillight, and the prosecution's strategy to paint her panic as prior knowledge. We also address how this moment — combined with the broader implausibility of the defense theory — could create a turning point for the jury. At what point does fear cross into foreknowledge? This is the behavioral-legal intersection the trial may hinge on. We got a crazy phone call from who I believe was the baby momma of Hector Custode, who's the accused child sex predator from the local car dealership that was exposed last week on the Pred V. Prey Facebook page. Rather the caller was the baby momma or not it motivated me to tell the story about how she has been stalking me and sharing information about Bryce (the content creator who exposed Hector) trying to tarnish him image as if it's somehow going to change what anyone thinks about Hectors image. We try to decide why she feels the need to defend Hector after he was caught on tape admitting to what he admitted to.
