Retired FBI agent Pete Lapp helped capture Ana Montez, a Puerto Rican-born American and UVA alumna who was a senior analyst for the Defense Intelligence Agency overseeing the Cuban account. For 17 years, she was also a spy for Cuba and was an avowed communist. Ironically, as many of four of Anna's close family members worked for the FBI and despite Anna's more extreme political views, assumed she was a loyal American. From his book “Queen of Cuba,” Pete relates how Ana was identified as a potential national security risk, secretly investigated, and ultimately apprehended after years of committing espionage. He describes how she transmitted information and also shares his view of her psychology: Withdrawn, lonely, at odds with her father, and driven by her political convictions and personal disagreement with U.S. foreign policy (including its policy towards Nicaragua) rather than financial gain, by which so many other spies have been enticed.Recruited while in college in 1983 during the Reagan administration by Cuban agent Marta Velasquez, (who was also a Puerto Richan-American) Ana's steadfast career rise at the Department of Defense gave her increased access over time to information of value to Castro's Cuba, stopping short of putting agents in personal peril. Cuban intelligence has been chronically underestimated over decades and makes Ana's case a warning example of an organized program to infiltrate critical branches of the U.S. government, along with the recent apprehension of former U.S. Ambassador to Bolivia, Manuel Rocha, whose been identified as a Cuban spy.Heroes Behind HeadlinesExecutive Producer Ralph PezzulloProduced & Engineered by Mike DawsonMusic provided by ExtremeMusic.com
NWT Nominee Program applications open November 10 with revised eligibility criteria, released by North West Territories on November 05, 2025 Good day ladies and gentlemen, this is IRC news, I am Joy Stephen, a certified Canadian Immigration practitioner, and I bring to you this Territorial News Bulletin from the Territory of North West Ter. This recording originates from the Polinsys studios in Cambridge, Ontario. NWT Nominee Program applications open November 10 with revised eligibility criteria The third 2025 intake of the Northwest Territories Nominee Program opens on November 10 at 9 a.m. These additional spots come following extensive advocacy work by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT), leading to the Government of Canada's decision earlier this month to restore the territory's yearly full allocation of 300 nominations. To fill the remaining nomination spots in a timely manner, the program guidelines have been updated through to the end of 2025, changing eligibility criteria for applicants and employers. These revised guidelines include three key changes: 1. Removing the limit on employer applications: Employers will no longer be limited on the number of applications they can submit based on business size. 2. Removing work permit expiry date requirements: Under the revised guidelines, applicants with a valid work permit who meet all other eligibility criteria may now apply, regardless of their work permit expiry date. 3. Reinstating the previous work experience requirement: The Skilled Worker and NWT Express Entry streams will return to the work experience criteria used in 2024 and earlier. Applicants must have at least one year of full-time work experience within the last 10 years in the same or a similar occupation as the one for which they are being nominated. This experience may come from different employers. These changes will remain in place for the remainder of 2025. Application intake closes November 24, 2025, 5 p.m. The Northwest Territories Nominee Program will aim to process up to 103 eligible applications in order to meet its revised 300 nominations for 2025. Applications received in excess of 103 or applications that cannot be finalized by December 23, 2025, will be withdrawn. Withdrawn applicants will be invited to reapply in 2026 | You can always access past news from the Territory of North West Ter by visiting this link: https://myar.me/tag/nt/. It began with a baby's cry in an empty Louisiana nursery—soft, rhythmic, and unmistakably real. But the infant it belonged to was across town. As the years went on, the house revealed its true nature: whispers in the halls, toys that moved on their own, drawings spilling from closets, and a presence that seemed fixated on one child in particular. Then came the brother who changed. Withdrawn, angry, and tormented by voices that drove him to do the unthinkable. His journal told of glowing eyes and something watching him from the dark corners of his room. After he left, the house grew quieter—but not empty. The girl grew up and moved away, believing the evil was buried with that house. But when shadows began reappearing in new places—her dreams, her reflection, the beach beside her own—the truth became undeniable: whatever haunted them wasn't tied to the home. It was tied to them. A curse that outlived the walls it began in. A voice that once whispered, “I'm never leaving.” And a family marked by something that doesn't just haunt—it inherits. This is not just a haunting story. The Pentagon is preparing to enforce the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements for small businesses, with compliance becoming mandatory in contracts starting November 10, 2025. Nearly 500 organizations have already achieved Level 2 certification, and the Defense Department is actively surveying small businesses to assess their readiness for these new standards. This initiative is expected to extend beyond Department of Defense contractors, potentially influencing other federal agencies and international partners to adopt similar cybersecurity measures.Recent reports highlight a concerning rise in cybersecurity threats, particularly in mobile attacks and ransomware incidents. According to the Verizon 2025 Mobile Security Index, 85% of organizations have reported increased mobile attacks, with 38% identifying AI-powered ransomware as a growing concern. Despite the widespread use of generative AI tools, only 17% of organizations have implemented specific security measures to counter AI-assisted attacks. Additionally, a report from Sophos indicates that 58% of retailers impacted by ransomware opted to pay the ransom, with the median demand doubling to $2 million. The episode also discusses the withdrawal of a controversial MIT Sloan paper that claimed 80% of ransomware attacks involved artificial intelligence, following criticism from cybersecurity experts. This incident underscores the issue of "AI-washing" in the cybersecurity sector, where unverified claims are made to attract attention. MSPs are advised to scrutinize such claims and focus on proven security practices rather than hype-driven narratives. For Managed Service Providers and IT decision-makers, the key takeaway is the importance of compliance and foundational cybersecurity practices. As the CMMC requirements loom, MSPs should consider developing readiness packages and tightening documentation processes. Additionally, the ongoing rise in lawsuits related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) highlights the need for businesses to prioritize compliance as a critical aspect of risk management, reinforcing that effective cybersecurity and legal compliance are essential for sustainable operations. The Bottle Almost Took Everything with Kristine Koontz | The Hopeaholics PodcastIn this raw and deeply emotional episode, Kristine Koontz shares her courageous journey through chaos, addiction, loss, and redemption with an honesty that grips you from the start. Growing up amid abuse, instability, and emotional neglect, Kristine found her first escape in alcohol at just thirteen years old — a drink that made her feel “normal” for the first time. What began as weekend partying spiraled into decades of dependency, self-destruction, and denial, even as she built a life as a wife, mother of three, and businesswoman. She opens up about the toll of her drinking: the crumbling of her marriage, the affair that shattered her family, and the painful moment her children turned away in shame. As her addiction deepened, Kristine describes hitting rock bottom — alone in her condo, shaking, suicidal, and drinking herself toward death until her ex-husband found her and rushed her to the hospital. Through multiple relapses and painful realizations, she finally surrendered, walking into an AA meeting that changed everything. Her transformation is one of faith, humility, and rebirth — a testament to the 9% of addicts who make it out alive. Today, Kristine speaks with radiant gratitude and strength, using her story to help others break free from the shame, secrecy, and isolation of addiction. Her message is clear and powerful: you can come back from anything if you let God, grace, and truth lead the way.#thehopeaholics #redemption #recovery #AlcoholAddiction #AddictionRecovery #wedorecover #SobrietyJourney #MyStory #Hope #wedorecover #treatmentcenter #natalieevamarieJoin our patreon to get access to an EXTRA EPISODE every week of ‘Off the Record', exclusive content, a thriving recovery community, and opportunities to be featured on the podcast. https://patreon.com/TheHopeaholics Go to www.Wolfpak.com today and support our sponsors. Today, Ceri talks about rejection. Something that is a part of every artist's life - Applications declined. Emails ignored. Opportunities missed. And let's be honest—it stings. For many artists, especially those who are neurodivergent, it doesn't just sting. It burns. There's even a name for this: Rejection Sensitivity. It's more than hurt feelings—it can feel like an existential threat, a collapse, a shame spiral. Maybe you've avoided applying. Withdrawn from people. Overreacted to feedback. If so, you're not alone. But here's the good news: you're not broken. This is a common pattern, and you can learn ways to soften its impact. In this episode, Ceri walks you through some steps and reflections to help you notice rejection, reframe it, and keep creating. KEY TAKEAWAYS • Unchecked rejection sensitivity quietly shapes careers. It can hold you back from applying, make you quit too soon and keep you isolated. Or you may overcompensate, work twice as hard, say yes to everything and people-please your way into exhaustion. • Ceri shares 10 steps for dealing with rejection in a healthy way, so you can recognise, reflect on, reframe and learn from rejection and carry on creating. • If you have a rejection that you are still hanging onto, reframe it today. Release yourself from the negativity that surrounds rejection. You don´t have to let it continue to hold you back. You can choose to release yourself. BEST MOMENTS “Rejection is not proof you don't belong. It's proof you're showing up.” “Rejection isn't the enemy. Silence isn't the enemy. Avoidance is. Not showing up is. And you—you're already showing up. That's where the magic begins.” “Step one is to recognise the pattern. First you have to notice it. Rejection shows up in emotions, the stories we tell ourselves and in the body - a tight chest, a racing heart, a stomach drop.” EPISODE RESOURCES If you prefer reading over listening? The Love, Happiness and Success Podcast With Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby
This episode originally aired on May 3, 2021 (Episode 244), and I'm bringing it back because so many of you told me how much it resonated. If you've ever struggled with a partner who shuts down or found yourself withdrawing, this one's worth revisiting. Whether you're navigating it now, reflecting on the past, or supporting someone you love, I hope it brings clarity and hope. Few things hurt more than reaching for your partner and being met with silence. In this episode, I'm unpacking why people shut down, how it damages connection, and what you can do to change the pattern. We'll look at the pursue-withdraw cycle, Gottman's “Four Horsemen,” and why emotional safety is the key to breaking through. You'll learn how to soften your approach, communicate vulnerably, and rebuild trust - while also considering when it's time to stop chasing and start filling your own cup. As you listen, think about how you usually respond when your partner withdraws and what effect that has. Consider what might change if you focused more on creating safety than on pushing for answers. And ask yourself where you could begin creating fulfillment in your own life, instead of waiting for your partner to engage. Episode Breakdown: 00:00 Introduction & Why Partners Shut Down 06:00 The Pursue-Withdraw Cycle in Relationships 11:04 The Impact of Withdrawal and Avoidance 13:01 Gottman's Four Horsemen & The Cost of Stonewalling 15:12 Why Withdrawal Happens & When It's About More Than You 20:40 Creating Emotional Safety and Communicating Vulnerably 28:04 Positive Reinforcement, Diplomacy & Patience 36:10 Filling Your Own Cup & Breaking the Chase Cycle If you'd like more support as you work on these skills, check out my Communication That Connects Free Training. Paul Crone, Director of the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals, on the impact on Irish schools returning to full service following caretaker and secretary strike action.
Schools across the country will today try and tackle the backlog of work that built up as a result of the strike action by school secretaries and caretakers that lasted for over a week. The striking workers had been picketing schools, demanding access to public sector pensions and other entitlements. The Minister for Education Helen McEntee welcomed Forsa's agreement to suspend strike action last Friday night, to allow for talks at the Workplace relations commission. The Union representing school secretaries and caretakers says the key element of the agreement is a Government commitment to negotiate comparable pension entitlements for their members. Alan Morrissey was joined by Rena McGrath, Vice-Chair of Fórsa School Secretaries Branch on the Clare/Galway border and Bernie Dillon, who's been Secretary at St Senan's Primary School in Kilrush for over twenty years.
United States withdrawal of programed funds is a challenge for grant-writer Anne Laker. In this conversation, she lists specifics, while also stating that future applications must not contain certain words that guarantee rejection. Yet we must not forget: "funders are people too."
Acts 15:36-16:5 36 And after some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us return and visit the brothers in every city where we proclaimed the word of the Lord, and see how they are.” 37 Now Barnabas wanted to take with them John called Mark. 38 But Paul thought best not to take with them one who had withdrawn from them in Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work. 39 And there arose a sharp disagreement, so that they separated from each other. Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus, 40 but Paul chose Silas and departed, having been commended by the brothers to the grace of the Lord. 41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches. 16 Paul came also to Derbe and to Lystra. A disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, but his father was a Greek. 2 He was well spoken of by the brothers at Lystra and Iconium. 3 Paul wanted Timothy to accompany him, and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek. 4 As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered to them for observance the decisions that had been reached by the apostles and elders who were in Jerusalem. 5 So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and they increased in numbers daily. Key Words: Return, Withdrawn, Disagreement, Separated, Commended, Strengthened Keystone Verse: Paul chose Silas and departed, having been commended by the brothers to the grace of the Lord. Was Woodrow Wilson a visionary statesman—or a reactionary bigot? Peter Robinson sits down with historian and former SEC Chairman Christopher Cox to discuss his latest book, Woodrow Wilson: The Light Withdrawn, Cox's meticulously researched biography of the 28th president of the United States. Together, they explore Wilson's complicated legacy: his towering achievements as a reformer and wartime leader and his deeply troubling record on race, gender, and civil rights. From his opposition to women's suffrage and his resegregation of the federal government to his embrace of the film, The Birth of a Nation, Cox reveals how Wilson's Southern upbringing and elitist worldview shaped both his presidency and progressivism itself. This conversation offers a sobering reappraisal of one of America's most consequential and controversial leaders—and asks what it means to judge historical figures by the standards of both their time and ours.

David Seymour is standing by his letter to the UN - now withdrawn. He wrote responding to an official who'd expressed concerns about the impact of Seymour's Regulatory Standards Bill on Māori. The Prime Minister says that's a job for the Foreign Minister and Seymour's conceded it's better to a have a single Government response, led by Winston Peters. Seymour says he still needs to work out how to undo the letter he sent. "I'll probably have to go through Winston, he probably doesn't want me to write direct to the UN again - I think that would probably miss the whole point of the exercise." The National Endowment for the Arts has withdrawn more than half a million dollars worth of grants that arts organizations all over Oregon were relying on. Portland Playhouse got a letter that said it would not get $25,000 meant for its production of August Wilson’s and Joe Turner’s "Come and Gone" that was to open the next day. Other organizations that saw their funding pulled include All Classical Portland, Oregon Children’s Theatre, NW Children’s Theatre, Passinart: A Theatre Company, and Profile Theatre. Portland Playhouse donors quickly made up the theatre’s lost $25,000 grant, but future federal funding is looking bleak to many Oregon arts organizations. Many of them met this week with Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, who vowed to do everything in her power to get federal funding restored. Claire Willett is a Portland-based playwright, artist and grant writer. She’s been following the NEA funding cuts for Oregon Arts Watch and joins us to share the latest developments.
What about those long, rubbery masses being found in our veins starting in mid-2021? Only one man is paying much attention to these sometimes-enormous things stuffing our veins in life and then in our dead bodies. His name is retired Major Tom Haviland. Sent into early retirement from the Air Force because he refused the Covid jabs, he watched the movie, “Died Suddenly,” and became interested in the giant white rubbery clots being pulled out of recently dead bodies by embalmers. He started surveying embalmers and their organizations in 2022, 2023, and 2024, and found that hundreds of practitioners were reporting that they began pulling these out of fresh corpses starting around mid-2021, and many were suspecting the Covid jabs as the cause. Tom, who has a bachelor's in electrical engineering and a master's in computer resources and information management, has a sharp scientific mind and describes with perfect clarity in a swiftly moving interview about his adventures with the incredible white amyloid substances and their contents, and the people who refuse to talk about it with anyone but him. One of the officials in the embalmers' hierarchy who initially told about seeing the “white things” later refused to send his survey around in his state when he rose up in the ranks. He found that vascular surgeons and other healthcare professionals were finding the rubbery white clots, sometimes in association with heart attacks, but weren't “allowed” to talk about it. Chemical analyses of the clots have suggested dangers that are additional to simply stuffing up our veins and causing heart attacks. In preparing for the interview, I tried to check the scientific literature to see if anyone had written about it. I found one article that had a remarkable list of 9 authors. I couldn't wait to read it. Withdrawn: A systematic review of autopsy findings in deaths after COVID-19 vaccination – ScienceDirect Forensic Science International Available online 21 June 2024, 112115 Withdrawn Article in Press: What's this? Alexander, Richard Amerling, Heather Gessling, Roger Hodkinson, William Makis, Harvey A. Risch, Mark Trozzi, Peter A. McCullough, 07/05/23) Look at that weird headline that starts with “WITHDRAWN.” Then look at the list of authors. I've heard of all nine, and many of them are actually my friends in the health freedom movement. These are people I know, have worked with, admire, and even love. It could be the invitation list to party of my favorite colleagues and their friends… if we held parties. It turns out that the editor-in-chief himself intervened and cancelled this article. It's quite astonishing because so many of these authors are among the most experienced and honorable professionals I know… Yes, I'm being ironic. The ones I know best in this group have been under heavy attack for being truth-tellers. Meanwhile, I'm going to have to contact my professional friends to get a copy of what they had to say because I cannot find the original online. In the third segment of the radio interview today, we examine the global implications of how the Western Global Predators and their empire can so easily shut down a scientific finding of such vast importance, even after some of the bravest and most honorable scientists in the world have already had the article accepted. Thank God, a very determined Major Tom Haviland continues to spread the news, and we can help him with his task.
