On the Friday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Christopher Carter welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Brian Batko to preview an important NFL Week 13 showdown with the Bengals. Is it time for TE Pat Freiermuth to feast on this Cincinnati secondary again after dominating it at Paycor Stadium last season? And should we be expecting more from names including Najee Harris and Mike Williams? Later, our duo gives their picks of favorite Thanksgiving foods and key matchups from around the NFL, including Chargers-Falcons, Cardinals-Vikings, Eagles-Ravens and Bills-49ers. Then they give their predictions for the Steelers game as coach Mike Tomlin, QB Russell Wilson and Co. look to bounce back from the loss to the Browns.

Hour 3 with Joe Starkey: Myles Garrett called out TJ Watt and said he's not complaining that a trophy isn't in his house. Watt took the high road. Darnell Washington is becoming a force in the passing game and blocks better than Pat Freiermuth.

Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Brian Batko and Ray Fittipaldo report from practice ahead of the team's NFL Week 12 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. How does OC Arthur Smith plan to fix the red zone issues that manifested again in the win over the Ravens last week? Could we see more of Justin Fields when the threat of his running ability could help? Could we see him and Russell Wilson on the field at the same time? Could we even see Fields transition into a slash role like Kordell Stewart? Our duo tackles those topics and others. Among them: How can Smith get Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington more involved in the red zone? And how involved will Ben Skowronek become in this offense?

On the Monday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, host Christopher Carter welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo to break down QB Russell Wilson's game ahead of a pivotal NFL Week 11 matchup with the AFC North rival Baltimore Ravens. Does Wilson get enough credit for how he distributes the ball to numerous targets, including George Pickens, Mike Williams, Pat Freiermuth, Calvin Austin III, Van Jefferson and Darnell Washington within OC Arthur Smith's offense? How can that skill help just as much as his effective deep passing? And could it mean more targets for Freiermuth and Washington in coming weeks? Later, our duo also talks defense. Specifically, they analyze what impact former Ravens Patrick Queen and DeShon Elliott could have for coach Mike Tomlin's defense against their former team after GM Omar Khan signed them to notable free agent deals in free agency.

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Freeiermuth and the team appear close to a new deal, after the club made 2024 salary cap space to handle an extension in its new contract with Cam Heyward earlier this week. But unlike the Heyward deal, a new long-term contract for Freiermuth does come with some risks for the team. Alan breaks it down. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

On the Wednesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, host Christopher Carter and Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo react to the three-year contract extension that defensive captain Cam Heyward received Tuesday. Was it the right move for GM Omar Khan? What does it mean for the team's NFL salary cap situation moving forward? And is Pat Freiermuth next in line to get a lucrative deal before the team opens its season Sunday vs. the Atlanta Falcons? Our duo tackles those questions, then ponders the reason coach Mike Tomlin is painting a fluid picture of the offensive line's status with Troy Fautanu and Isaac Seumalo nursing injuries and Broderick Jones looking to find his stride after a rough preseason.
How much would you pay Pat Freiermuth? Joe doesn't see a pressing need to sign Freiermuth.
Mark thinks Russell Wilson will be the ultimate game manager and be fine in the Steelers offense. It's down to leadership and playing 1980s football with defense and the running game. The Cam Heyward contract is a win-win situation.
Hour 2 with Joe Starkey and Paul Zeise: How much would you pay Pat Freiermuth? Joe doesn't see a pressing need to sign Freiermuth. Brooke Pryor thinks the Steelers did right by Cam Heyward, but is 50/50 on if a Pat Freiermuth extension gets done.

In his weekly YouTube appearance, Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise joins host Adam Bittner to weigh the potential impact of a Brandon Aiyuk trade with the San Francisco 49ers on the rest of the Steelers' roster. Could GM Omar Khan be forced to choose between Aiyuk and George Pickens as soon as next season for salary cap reasons? What impact could a major deal with Aiyuk mean for the QB situation with Russell Wilson, Justin Fields or someone else? And will there be enough cap space left to get deals done with names like Pat Freiermuth, Najee Harris and/or Cam Heyward? Our duo tackles those questions and more on the Steelers front, then gets into some Pirates, Penguins and Pitt football talk. Is the latest losing skid proof that GM Ben Cherington waited too long to upgrade his offense before the MLB trade deadline? Does this lineup have any serious hope with names like Ke'Bryan Hayes struggling so badly? Can this club afford to move on from Andrew McCutchen in the offseason? What should we make of the delay in a contract extension between the Penguins and Sidney Crosby? And what should we make of the Panthers' QB battle between Nate Yarnell and Eli Holstein?
Joey Christopoulos of Sports Talk Chicago joins the show to discuss the top storylines for the Pittsburgh Steelers going into the 2024 season. It includes improving their red-zone efficiency, the quarterback battle between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields and which player will be the team's second-best receiver behind George Pickens. The guys also talk about how the Steelers will try to win their first playoff game since January 2017. It includes a discussion about Mike Tomlin's role in getting the team back into playoff contention. Several Steelers players are also entering contract seasons, including Freiermuth, Cameron Heyward and Najee Harris. Other topics include which defensive players will emerge as playmakers other than T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, Heyward and Minkah Fitzpatrick? Will we see the return of "Minkah ball" considering Fitzpatrick didn't have a takeaway in the 2023 season?
