Or are they overstating the impact of Rodgers' absence, with veterans including Mason Rudolph and others shrugging off outside concerns? Then later, the guys give a first look at other areas of concern. How are tackles Troy Fautanu and Broderick Jones looking as they face pressure amid the departure of Dan Moore Jr.? How are new receivers DK Metcalf and Robert Woods assimilating? Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey offers 10 thoughts on the Steelers' NFL Week 18 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals during his daily First 10 podcast. What were coaches Mike Tomlin and Arthur Smith thinking in pivoting away from Russell Wilson and the passing game? Has Wilson regressed to the point that GM Omar Khan should re-think his approach at the position next season? Why did Tomlin go for it on fourth down late in the half, essentially handing the Bengals three points when Jaylen Warren's run failed? What's going on with the offensive line? And has the time come to move on from tackle Dan Moore Jr.? What about receiver George Pickens, who had numerous costly drops and has not contributed much since returning from injury? How much of a future does Najee Harris have with the team? And what can be done to improve lacking secondary depth behind Joey Porter Jr. and Donte Jackson?
Post-Gazette sports writers Adam Bittner and Paul Zeise react live after the Steelers' NFL Week 18 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium. Can QB Russell Wilson shake of his string of costly turnovers and build passing game momentum with targets including George Pickens, Pat Freiermuth, Calvin Austin III and Mike Williams? How will Jaylen Warren and Najee Harris manage in the running game? Were offensive linemen including Zach Frazier, Broderick Jones and Dan Moore Jr. able to provide better protection? How did Minkah Fitzpatrick, Joey Porter Jr and DeShon Elliott bounce back after a tough few weeks for the pass defense? And were T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward and Alex Highsmith able to get better pressure on Bengals QB Joe Burrow?
Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Gerry Dulac and Ray Fittipaldo react to the team's NFL Week 18 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium. Why did coach Mike Tomlin and OC Arthur Smith abandon the pass-heavy attack led by Russell Wilson that worked against this opponent a month ago to focus on Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren and the running game? Was the game plan too reliant on a regressing offensive line, with names like Dan Moore Jr. and Broderick Jones struggling? What should we make of tight end Pat Freiermuth's busy night as the leading receiver? How were Bengals QB Joe Burrow and WR Ja'Marr Chase able to have success against Cory Trice Jr., Joey Porter Jr., Minkah Fitzpatrick and the Steelers secondary? And what are the likely NFL playoff scenarios heading into the final day of the regular season Sunday? Our duo tackles those questions and more.
On the Friday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Christopher Carter welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Brian Batko to preview the NFL Week 18 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. Is this game a must-win to avoid a potential first-round matchup with the Baltimore Ravens and instead draw the struggling Texans? Is QB Russell Wilson's ability to avoid costly mistakes the key to an offensive turnaround? Or is the pressure on Zach Frazier, Broderick Jones, Dan Moore Jr. and the young offensive line to pave the way for Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren to have rushing success? On defense, can T.J. Watt, Nick Herbig, Alex Highsmith, Cam Heyward and the pass rush be more effective in getting home and sacking Joe Burrow to slow his connection with receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins? And can the return of Joey Porter Jr. help the secondary in coverage? Our duo tackles those questions, previews a busy slate of games around the NFL -- including the Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings for the No. 1 seed in the NFC -- and also gives predictions for how Steelers-Bengals will shake out.

Do coach Mike Tomlin and his players have enough time to get back in a groove ahead of the NFL playoffs? Could a potential first-round matchup with the Houston Texans -- as opposed to the Baltimore Ravens -- help in that pursuit ahead of tougher later-round matchups? And are Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and the red-hot Bengals the perfect test of adjustments on defense, led by T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward and Minkah Fitzpatrick? Our duo tackles those topics, then dives deep on the offense. What's going on with the offensive line right night? From young guys including Broderick Jones, Mason McCormick and Zach Frazier to veterans like Isaac Seumalo and Dan Moore Jr.? Has the success of Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren in recent weeks been legit? Or padded by game scripts? And can George Pickens lock in mentally to be the big-play threat that OC Arthur Smith and QB Russell Wilson need him to be?

How did Russell Wilson, Najee Harris, Pat Freiermuth and OC Arthur Smith handle the absence of George Pickens offensively? Did Broderick Jones, Dan Moore Jr. and the offensive line do a better job against Browns standout Myles Garrett than they did in Week 12? And what were T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward, Minkah Fitzpatrick and the defense able to do against dynamic Browns duo Jameis Winston and Jerry Jeudy?
On the Monday episode of the North Shore Drive, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Christopher Carter welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo to react to the Steelers' NFL Week 13 win against the Bengals in Cincinnati. Did Russell Wilson and the offense prove they're finding the balance they've long sought? What does it mean that Wilson is getting so many different targets involved in the passing game, from George Pickens, to Calvin Austin III, to Pat Freiermuth? How much credit does Najee Harris deserve for his efficiency in the running game? And are Broderick Jones, Dan Moore Jr. and the offensive line finding their groove after shutting down dangerous Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson? Our duo tackles those questions, then talks defense. Did turnovers forced by T.J. Watt and Nick Herbig make up for some missed opportunities for the pass rush in previous games? How should we balance the big plays on defense with the fact that they gave up over 30 points? And are Joey Porter Jr.'s five penalties in the game a concern? Then later, Chris and Ray wrap the show by analyzing Pickens' unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and ponder where the Steelers fit in the AFC North race with the Ravens after they lost to the Eagles on Sunday.
Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's show, we discuss Mike Tomlin's weekly availability and the team returning to practice ahead of their matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. There is a clear emphasis on improving in short-yardage and goal line situations. Tomlin even put the blame largely on the coaches for the team's woes in those areas. Alex Highsmith didn't participate in practice but could still return for the game. Same for Monty Adams and Cory Trice Jr. Do we think Dan Moore Jr. is more likely to return in 2024 based off his performance? How will the team navigate being on Hard Knocks? Have we seen the necessary leaps from Zach Frazier, Mason McCormick and Broderick Jones this year? Let's go for another Steelers Afternoon Drive and discuss! Learn more about your ad choices. “Bleav in Steelers” host Mark Bergin is joined by “Bleav in Colts” host Lawrence Owen to preview the Week 4 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts. First, the guys share stories of the St. Elmo Steak House in Indianapolis The guys discussed how Justin Fields has the Steelers off to a 3-0 start by playing ball-control football. The Steelers' offense has only one turnover and they've won time of possession in their three wins. The Steelers are +4 in turnover margin too. Pittsburgh's ability to sustain drives offensively has helped the defense to get off to a dominant start. The Steelers will be without Alex Highsmith due to a groin injury. Second-year edge rusher Nick Herbig looks to fill in for Highsmith. Second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson is off to a shaky start with the Colts entering Sunday's game with a 1-2 record. When will the defense start generating turnovers? And how will injuries to Alex Highsmith and Cory Trice Jr. affect that unit?
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the matchup between Justin Fields and Los Angeles Chargers edge rushers Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack. Of course, Bosa and Mack will primarily face off against Steelers tackle Dan Moore Jr. and Troy Fautanu, but Fields needs to expect that rushers of their talent level will get through at least a few times over the course of a game. Fields has taken just two sacks and has not turned the ball over through two games. If he can keep those kinds of numbers up while leading the offense to where it needs to go against a much improved pass rush compared to the first two weeks, he might start to plant his flag in the QB1 battle for when Russell Wilson returns.
