This week, Nizzbit returns to the show to have Travis watch the 2002 drama Road to Perdition for the first time. Set in 1931, Mike Sullivan works for the local mobster, but when his son Michael Jr stows away on one of his "errands" and witnesses a shootout, they become entangled in a plot to kill them both by the Mobsters son, Connor. Tom Hanks stars along with Paul Newman, Daniel Craig, and Tyler Hoechlin in one of his earliest roles. So, is this one of the best adaptations of a comic/graphic novel out there? Or does it fail to live up to the hype? Let's find out...Thanks go out to Audie Norman (@TheAudieNorman) for the album art. Tony Lombardi from Lombardi Wines is our guest on California Wine Country with Dan Berger and Daedalus Howell. This is his first time on the show. The winery is located in the Petaluma Gap, which we have described in many recent episodes. This episode from 2018 is about the 3rd anniversary of the Petaluma Gap AVA, We start with Chardonnay, which Dan says is in the mold of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, which is an estate in Burgundy, in the Côte d’Or region in east-central France. They produce red and white wines of distinction. If you visit DRC, as it is known, they serve the reds first, then the whites. They believe in the richness and the full-bodied character of Le Montrachet. Dan says that this wine from Lombardi wines has that character which makes it an exciting wine.-•• • --- -•• --- .–. .-California Wine Country is brought to you by Deodora Estate Vineyards. Visit Deodora to discover 72 acres in the Petaluma Gap that produce exceptional Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling. Sip the difference! -•• • --- -•• --- .–. .- The Lombardi Family The Lombardi family has been in Sonoma County since the ’40s. Tony has been a winemaker for 30 years. He grew up in Sebastopol and calls Sonoma County the Garden of Eden. Tony is happy to work with a friend from high school named Mike Sullivan. He got access to a few tons of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Maratella vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Tony only made 8 barrels of this wine. He used one old barrel, seven new ones, and some stainless steel. He fermented different vineyards together, then they went into different barrels. Later he blended them all together. Dan calls it a classic example of a Russian River Valley Chardonnay. It has just a hint of oak. Tony wants the oak to just capture the edges and round it out. You want subtleness and integration, so you you catch a little bit of crème brulée, or lemon curd, or minerality. Dan says, put this wine with the right food and it get better. Tony suggests Dustin Valette’s Scallops en croute. If a Chardonnay is too buttery and oaky, it can overpower the flavors in the food. Dan noticed that Russian River Valley Chardonnay has citrus flavors that contribute to the acidity. It’s something you don’t want to lose in your blending. This vineyard is west of the town of Santa Rosa. It has some inland warmth compared to his place in Petaluma Gap. Next they taste two Pinot Noirs. In Tony’s career he has learned about regions and wines from all over the world. Now he has settled into Chardonnay and Pinot Noir which he likes for their versatility. Every March, he is part of a festival called Pigs and Pinot. Tony can blend a couple of barrels of Gap’s Crown vineyard in with the Russian River Valley fruit.

Todd Solondz's disowned debut finally gets its day in court. Fear, Anxiety & Depression (1989) follows Ira Ellis, a bespectacled, self-deluding playwright adrift in the last gasp of the East Village art scene — too busy pining after a performance artist named Junk to notice the woman who actually loves him.Mike Sullivan and David Rodgers join Mike to dig into the film Solondz famously begged a friend not to rent, examining what makes it both a fascinating time capsule of downtown New York bohemia and an unmistakable preview of the tragicomic sensibility that would eventually produce Happiness and Welcome to the Dollhouse. They also make the case for why this orphaned debut — unavailable on any legitimate platform since its 1990 VHS release — deserves a proper restoration and re-release.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-projection-booth--5513239/support.Become a supporter of The Projection Booth at http://www.patreon.com/projectionbooth

Sean didn't think the Penguins would make the playoffs and thought they would be a bottom five team. He thought Mike Sullivan was better than we thought, didn't see Dan Muse being this good, and Erik Karlsson being great this year. Sean thinks Columbus is the best five-on-five team out of the Flyers and Islanders that the Penguins would want to play. Sean is in D.C. for what could be the last few games of Alex Ovechkin's NHL career.
The Penguins have a chance, in 3 different ways, to make the playoffs tonight for the first time since the 2021-2022 season. A win gets it done the easy way, but they can also get in with 1 point or no points in the event of losses around the eastern conference. What a job by Dan Muse. Where does it rank among best coaching jobs in the last 10 years of Pittsburgh sports? The back-to-back Cup runs by Mike Sullivan probably take the cake. Mike Tomlin has had a few good ones, too. But Muse has turned things around faster than we ever anticipated. A season in which the Penguins did not have Sidney Crosby for 70 games or Evgeni Malkin for 60 games is on the doorstep of a playoff berth.

Poni doesn't like how Dan Muse is handling the current goaltending situation. Who should get the nod in the playoffs? A funny lookalike conversation. Pirates insider Jason Mackey joined the show. Jason thinks the reality for Paul Skenes is that he is headed to a major market within the next 5 years, but that doesn't mean there is zero attempt to keep him around. Will we see a revamped MLB system that could benefit the Pirates? Jason gave his take to an online battle regarding the Pirates signing of Konnor Griffin as a common practice. Did one side cave more in the Griffin negotiations? The guys didn't like the pulling of Mitch Keller after 75 pitches, followed by the bullpen immediately giving up runs. Jason told us about Keller doing Pilates in the offseason that may have an impact on what he's doing so far. Was Keller OK with being done after 6 innings yesterday? Jason broke down the season of Oneil Cruz so far, which has seen lowlights in the outfield, but highlights at the plate.

Post-Gazette insider Jason Mackey and host King Jemison recap a wild Penguins win in Tampa Bay on Thursday night and discuss Erik Karlsson's major turnaround this season. Jason and King start off by discussing the play of Tristan Jarry, who made 37 saves and likely stole the Penguins a win after their all-around lackluster performance. Is this version of Jarry here to stay? Is the kid line featuring Ben Kindel and Ville Koivunen here to stay, too, after both scored against Tampa Bay? And despite the win, what warning signs were present throughout the game for Pittsburgh? They then get into Erik Karlsson's improved play this season. What's behind it? Was he just not the right fit with Mike Sullivan? What has Dan Muse done to bring out this new, improved version of the defenseman? Is he more engaged, with a notable improvement in his positioning and puck control? What do the stats and metrics say? Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. How has Dan Muse been able to surprise everyone, and what are the actual differences in the team between him and Mike Sullivan? Jason and King discuss what to do with the goaltending situation. Is Tristan Jarry an All-Star? And is now the time to trade him, with Edmonton rumors swirling, even though he's been fantastic for them this season? What message would that send to the dressing room? And are Arturs Silovs or Sergei Murashov ready to step into the No. 1 goalie's skates? Jason and King finish off by talking about Sidney Crosby's vintage torturous performance on Monday against the Flyers; players like Justin Brazeau and Noel Acciari likely re-entering the fold soon; and the Penguins' reinvigorated fourth line.
