Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's episode, we discuss some transactional news, including the team signing veteran RB Trey Sermon and if that could have any impact on Cordarrelle Patterson. Do the Steelers have the same amount or more drama than the rest of the league? Is there just a bigger microscope on them? How much more does Omar Khan have to do to clean up the late career misses of Kevin Colbert before we can just evaluate Omar on his own timeline? Let's go for another Steelers Afternoon Drive and discuss all this and more! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Brian wouldn't be stunned if Will Howard had a good NFL career. What do we know about Aaron Rodgers? It doesn't seem like there's a spot for Cordarrelle Patterson on the roster, but he's still on the roster.

Wobby examines. 3:02 - If the Vikings take a receiver in the 1st round, Wobby says it should be this elite prospect. 6:03 - Justin Jefferson 2.0? Wobby has an idea for the Vikings in the 2nd round. 8:34 - The list's first scheme-agnostic player is one the Vikings could grab in the 3rd round to add some juice to the offense and return game. 10:41 - Wobby says this player is the 2025 draft's version of Cordarrelle Patterson and should be available for the Vikings in the 4th round. 13:02 - Wobby's favorite receiver on the list is one of Jaxon Dart's top targets at Ole Miss and could be available as late as the 5th round. 15:34 - You want a height-weight-speed guy? Wobby found one for you from the University of Tennessee who could be a 6th-round target for the Vikings. 17:05 - Cam Ward is the most popular University of Miami prospect and is expected to be selected first overall, but Wobby found a different Hurricane who could help the Vikings and may not be selected until the final round. 20:04 - There are three members of Wobby's honorable mention group at wide receiver, and each can be targeted in the 5th round or later.

On the Monday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Christopher Carter welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo to ponder GM Omar Khan's next moves to trim players from his roster to free up salary cap space ahead of NFL free agency next month. Who will join Preston Smith as a cap casualty as the pass rusher was cut late last week? Is Larry Ogunjobi making too much relative to his hefty salary? Did Cordarrelle Patterson do enough on special teams and in the offensive backfield to justify bringing him back? Especially with Najee Harris set to hit free agency? And how will the team handle the case of the injured Cole Holcomb? Could he be cut but brought back at a lower salary? Our duo tackles those questions and more on the defensive side. How can Khan and coach Mike Tomlin bolster defensive line depth beyond Keeanu Benton and Cam Heyward? Should they consider a pending free agent like Milton Williams, who was drafted by assistant GM Andy Weidl with the Super Bowl champion Eagles a few years back? Should they look to the draft with names like Michigan's Kenneth Grant? And how will new ILBs coach Scott McCurley be able to help key pieces of DC Teryl Austin's unit, including Patrick Queen and Payton Wilson?
93.7 The Fan Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. Jeff remains frustrated with the Steelers short-yardage decisions and utilizing Cordarrelle Patterson on pitch plays. Jeff thinks the Penguins trading Rickard Rakell is a possibility but not imminent. Sidney Crosby has an upper-body injury and took light shots at practice.
Hour 4 with Bob Pompeani and Joe Starkey: What kind of offense were they running then?? Gerry and Aditi eventually come to the same conclusion: the offensive philosophy isn't good enough.
On his weekly Chipped Ham & Football podcast, Post-Gazette Steelers insider Brian Batko welcomes Chris Mueller of 93.7 The Fan to ponder decisions GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin will have to make about personnel this offseason. With a specific focus on colleague Ray Fittipaldo's trade, cut or keep analysis on our website. Should Minkah Fitzpatrick and his lucrative contract return to the secondary after it struggled down the stretch? Did Patrick Queen live up to his expensive deal from last year in NFL free agency? And what should be done about George Pickens, who's created some headaches despite strong production? Our duo tackles the fate of those players and a few others including Cordarrelle Patterson, Cam Sutton, Elandon Roberts and Cole Holcomb.
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the play of the Steelers kickoff return unit. When the NFL made the change this offseason to its kickoff rules to emulate the XFL kickoff that we've seen all season, Omar Khan and Mike Tomlin wasted little time, signing Cordarrelle Patterson to a two-year contract that very day. Patterson is a four-time All-Pro kickoff returner, was a member of the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team, and has gone over 1,000 all-purpose yards in a season nine times. But for whatever reason, it hasn't been working for the 32-year-old this season. Of players with at least 10 kickoff returns, Patterson is dead last with a 21.8 yards per return average. The Steelers as a team are also 32nd in kickoff returns, even though fellow returner Jaylen Warren has done better than Patterson. What went wrong and how can the Steelers fix it? Alan breaks it down. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On his daily First 10 podcast, Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey offers 10 thoughts about the Steelers following their NFL Week 17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at Acrisure Stadium. Are the Steelers getting enough value out of their expensive defense? Or do well-paid stars Minkah Fitzpatrick, Patrick Queen, T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward and Alex Highsmith deserve scrutiny amid this three-game losing streak? Have hopes for the AFC North title completely evaporated? Or is there still a chance to beat the Ravens and escape a first-round road game against the Houston Texans? Do Russell Wilson, George Pickens and Pat Freiermuth have a turnover problem? Is DeShon Elliott's verbal frustration after the game a problem for coach Mike Tomlin's locker room? Is Arthur Smith making questionable calls, especially with Cordarrelle Patterson? And what's going on between RBs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren?
NFL great Patrick Peterson joined the show. Pat Pete is not picking the Ravens to win tomorrow and cited the history of Lamar Jackson struggling against the Steelers. Pat thinks Cordarrelle Patterson should get a lot of snaps in a game like this. The guys asked Pat what the offense can do without George Pickens on the field. Pat described the key to win as a collective effort and what we need to see out of the defense. Pat likes Patrick Queen to have a big day.
Who are the Steelers three most important players? TJ Watt, Russell Wilson, or George Pickens? Should Jaylen Warren receive more touches in the offense? We think Cordarrelle Patterson shouldn't be playing as much as recurrently is.
How bad was the Steelers loss against the Browns? We don't understand why Tomlin accepted the illegal touching penalty instead of 4th down. Why did the Steelers call a fade play for Cordarrelle Patterson?
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the rollout of a package of plays for backup quarterback Justin Fields against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night. Fields played in seven snaps of offense, rushing three times for 26 yards and attempting one pass that was incomplete. The Steelers' struggles in the red zone and in short yardage under Russell Wilson have been well documented, so in many ways, a package of plays for Fields made sense. But the Steelers didn't use him in those areas, eschewing Fields on a 4th and 1 for a handoff to Jaylen Warren and using Wilson on a two-point conversion to throw a fade route to Cordarrelle Patterson. The plays they did use Fields were a confused mess, with one procedure penalty and another play where the Steelers barely got the snap off and everyone's timing was disrupted. The Steelers can certainly use the talents of a player like Fields, but not in the manner displayed on Thursday night. Alan breaks it down. Learn more about your ad choices. Chris thinks Darnell Washington could get a key play in the game that leads to the win for the Steelers. Chris also mentions Donate Jackson could have an interception in the game. Poni's random guy is Cordarrelle Patterson. How do Steeler fans view the Ravens? Raven fans hate… Troy Polamalu. Mike in Maryland hates the Ravens. No care for Browns or Bengals, but he HATES the Ravens.
93.7 The Fan Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. Patrick Queen said it took until the start of the season to get over everything that happened with Baltimore. Arthur Smith joked he hangs out with Russell Wilson on Friday nights instead of in the South Side. Cordarrelle Patterson looks faster coming back from his injury.

Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's episode, we continue our discussion about expectations prior to the season compared to the contributions the team has received from each position group. Starting with wide receiver, what have we made from the contributions of George Pickens, Van Jefferson, Calvin Austin III, Scotty Miller and Brandon Johnson. How much has losing Roman Wilson impacted that? Led by Pat Freiermuth, how has the tight end room consisting of Darnell Washington, MyCole Pruitt, Connor Heyward and Rodey Williams fared? Najee Harris has had a fantastic year, but what about Jaylen Warren, Cordarrelle Patterson and others? Led by TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith, have Nick Herbig and the rest of the EDGE rushers lived up to their billing? Finally, what about Minkah Fizpatrick, Donte Jackson, DeShon Elliott, Joey Porter Jr. and Beanie Bishop? Let's go for another Steelers Afternoon Drive and discuss! Learn more about your ad choices.
