This week, on a special “best of” edition of the SLHour, Camille Pauley of Healing the Culture tells us about their new prolife TV series for kids, Philo and Sophie, and author Robert Leblanc explores the David and Goliath story; we also reconnect with singer/songwriters Cooper Ray and John Finch.
In this episode of The Cordial Catholic, I'm joined by my good friend Robert LeBlanc, co-host of the Pints and Pews Podcast, author, and speaker – and a guy who was born in the same hometown as me! Our conversation this week revolves around that idea: what it's like to be grow up Catholic (for Robert) and Evangelical (for me) in the same small-ish town. Robert shares some incredible stories of his own upbringing from how he inherited and experience the faith of his parents, his peers, and the Catholic Church of his time. I share some of my own thoughts and impressions of the Catholics I knew and experienced and my perspective on Catholicism as an Evangelical – a convert to the faith at age 15. I had this idea for a conversation like this ever since Robert invited me on his podcast and we realized that we both grew up in the same small-ish town. I had no idea how the conversation would go but, as it turns out, it was amazing. I hope you enjoy it. Robert LeBlanc is a New Orleans based hotelier, restaurateur, and storyteller. I’ve always been fascinated with storytelling through food and hospitality experiences and Robert is one of the people who does it best. His restaurants in New Orleans are some of my favorite culinary experiences in the world. And his newly opened hotel, The Chloe, a renovated mansion on St. Charles Ave.in New Orleans, is truly a one of a kind place. In this episode we talk about the important influences his family had on him growing up. His early entrepreneurial adventures in the music industry and how music influences him creatively. We talk about how and why he decided to make the leap to opening restaurants and eventually a hotel. And how he approaches spaces and projects creatively, the importance of a good play list, and much, much, more. It was a real treat to spend some time talking with Robert on a rainy afternoon in New Orleans and I hope you enjoy this episode!
