We discuss the origins, theological dynamics, and international reach of this movement, featured in the new volume, The Geneva Réveil in International Perspective. Dr. Decorvet shares personal insights, including his family's connection to Adolphe Monod—known as “the voice of the revival”—while Dr. Stewart highlights the fascinating transatlantic ties between the Réveil and American Presbyterianism. Chris Kucharik is a professor of plant and agroecosystem sciences at UW-Madison leading the expansion of what's called Wisconet thanks to dollars from the USDA and the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation. He tells Stephanie Hoff that they plan to have about 80 weather stations placed around the state before the end of the year, with at least one in every county. He gives us a status report, including how the weather and soil data has already helped alert Wisconsinites of stormy weather. More measurable rain in the forecast for today according to Stu Muck. Next week approximately 1,000 dairy producers will meet at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison for the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin's annual business meeting. Shelly Mayer, executive director of PDPW, joins Pam Jahnke for a conversation about the content that will be presented.

Since then, she has become known as the most prominent whistleblower in the effort to put the brakes on medicalized gender transition for kids. In this conversation, Jamie talks about what the last year and a half has been like for her, what the public still needs to understand about this issue, and why doctors and other medical providers are continuing to misrepresent their treatment protocols. She discusses how institutions serving the most vulnerable kids, including foster care systems (where large numbers of kids now identify as trans), have adopted affirmative care models and explains what it's like to Testify before state legislatures about restricting access to non-evidence-based gender-affirming care. As a self-described “queer woman who's married to a transgender person and is politically to the left of Bernie Sanders,” it's the last thing she ever thought she'd be doing. Now it's her life's work. GUEST BIO Jamie Reed is one of the first public whistleblowers from a pediatric gender clinic in the United States and is now the Executive Director and Co-Founder of the LGBT Courage Coalition, an American-based non-profit of LGBT adults seeking to reform youth gender medicine. She has spoken at numerous conferences including Genspect: The Bigger Picture in Colorado, at the International Perspectives on Evidence- Based Treatment for Gender-Dysphoric Youth in New York, and Psychotherapeutic Process with Young People Experiencing Gender Dysphoria in Tampere, Finland. Jamie is a gay woman and foster and adoptive parent of five boys. Today's conversation with Maleeka Jihad (MJ) dives into the difference between whiteness (white ideology), white identity, and humanity. MJ is the Executive Director of the MJCF: Coalition and runs a consulting business. She's also earning her PhD in Leadership and Development and Social Change. When we first met, she was co-facilitating a training I attended and in one of the breakout sessions she said, "your whiteness is not connected to your humanity." It was one of those comments that stays with you and has a real impact. I wanted to have this conversation to better understand the difference between my whiteness as an ideology that contributes to the harms of racism and my white identity. We also talked about how we can begin to move out of our whiteness, into our humanity, and begin to express ourselves through empathy, kindness and love for one another. If this episode sparked your curiosity and you want to learn more, here are a few resources that MJ shared. Unfortunately, I was not able to provide links. The episode emphasizes the ongoing need for efforts to safeguard the ocean, stressing that the fight for its protection is continuous and demands sustained action from individuals, communities, and governments. The episode delves into various ways individuals can contribute to ocean protection, such as advocating for conservation on social media, engaging in conversations with peers, and setting an example by reducing single-use plastic consumption. By actively discussing ocean conservation and sharing positive environmental stories, individuals can raise awareness and inspire others to take action. Furthermore, the episode highlights the importance of community involvement in ocean protection. Volunteering for organizations that conduct beach cleanups, river protection activities, or educational programs can make a tangible impact on local ecosystems. By participating in community-based initiatives, individuals can contribute to marine environment preservation and foster a sense of collective responsibility towards ocean conservation. Additionally, the episode underscores the role of political engagement in advancing ocean protection efforts. By communicating with government representatives, individuals can advocate for policies that prioritize environmental conservation and address issues like climate change. Through collective action and advocacy, communities can influence decision-makers to prioritize ocean protection and marine biodiversity preservation. In conclusion, the episode stresses that the work to protect the ocean extends beyond designated awareness periods. It is an ongoing effort that requires continuous education, awareness, and action from individuals, communities, and governments. By remaining committed to ocean conservation, we can strive towards a sustainable future for our oceans and marine ecosystems. Leading by example in making sustainable choices can inspire others to do the same. In the podcast episode, Andrew Lewin emphasizes the importance of setting an example by making sustainable choices to protect the ocean. He mentions the convenience of wastefulness in daily living, such as avoiding single-use plastic water bottles and opting for reusable ones. By choosing to carry a reusable water bottle instead of purchasing single-use plastic bottles, individuals can reduce plastic waste and contribute to a healthier environment. Andrew also discusses the significance of overcoming convenience in favor of sustainability. He highlights the benefits of planning ahead and making conscious decisions to reduce environmental impact. For example, choosing to shop at thrift stores for clothing not only saves money but also promotes sustainable fashion practices by reducing the demand for new clothing production. Moreover, Andrew mentions the positive impact of leading by example within communities. By volunteering for environmental organizations, participating in beach cleanups, or educating others about sustainable practices, individuals can inspire their peers to adopt similar behaviors. Sharing success stories of local environmental initiatives, like cleaning up abandoned aquaculture pens, can showcase the tangible benefits of conservation efforts and motivate others to get involved. By demonstrating sustainable choices in daily life, individuals can influence their communities and encourage positive environmental actions. Through proactive engagement, education, and advocacy, individuals can inspire others to prioritize sustainability and contribute to the protection of the ocean and the environment as a whole. Engaging with the community and political representatives is crucial for advocating for ocean protection and driving change. In the podcast episode, Andrew emphasizes the importance of speaking up about ocean conservation not only on social media but also in personal interactions. By talking to friends, family, and colleagues about the importance of protecting the ocean, individuals can raise awareness and inspire others to take action. Furthermore, Andrew highlights the significance of leading by example in individual contributions towards ocean protection. This includes making sustainable choices such as using reusable water bottles, reducing waste, and supporting eco-friendly practices. By demonstrating these behaviors, individuals can influence those around them to adopt more environmentally conscious habits. In addition to individual efforts, engaging with the community through volunteering for environmental organizations and participating in local clean-up initiatives can have a significant impact on ocean conservation. By actively contributing to community-based projects, individuals can directly support efforts to protect marine ecosystems and promote sustainable practices within their local area. Moreover, Andrew stresses the importance of engaging with political representatives at various levels of government to advocate for ocean protection. By voicing concerns, sharing knowledge, and supporting policies that prioritize environmental conservation, individuals can influence decision-making processes and drive legislative changes that benefit the ocean. Overall, the episode underscores the collective effort required to protect the ocean effectively. By engaging with the community and political representatives, individuals can amplify their voices, raise awareness, and advocate for policies that safeguard the ocean for future generations.

Hotels have always been used for non-traditional stays. Converting hotels leverages existing infrastructure and minimizes cost and time required for construction or setup of emergency housing of all types. In recent years, this usage is more prevalent to the general public due to the recent global pandemic and housing of essential workers, the infirm and recovering, as well as the recent need to support migrants, the unhoused and refugees. But what happens to the property when owners and operators want to go back to traditional usage? Listen as Herrick partner and chair of the Real Estate Hospitality group, Yariv Ben-Ari, discusses what's next for these hotels with Yaron Ashkenazi, CEO of Caliber Hospitality Trust, and Jonathan Falik, CEO at JF Capital Advisors. In Part 2 of this two-part series they discuss what renovation and restoration looks like, choosing a brand partner and how that decision is key to how successful the property can be.Music by Michelangelo Sosnowitz
Welcome to Protected: Adolescents & Contraception a TeamPeds Talks podcast series brought to you by the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP). Access to contraception and reproductive care is an essential aspect of adolescent-friendly health care services and to preventing teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and more — yet many teens face significant barriers. This podcast series is a call to action for pediatric focused clinicians who can contribute significantly to increasing access for this important aspect of adolescent health care. The focus of this series is to address multiple aspects of contraceptive care — from confidentiality to various available methods and provide clinical pearls to help improve access for adolescents regardless of setting. Each guest is most knowledgeable about the laws and policies of their own state and has brought this viewpoint into their conversation. It is important to maintain knowledge of your own local, state, and federal laws that relate to the provision of reproductive health services. Our host for this series is Alison Moriarty Daley, PHD, APRN, PPCNP-BC, FAAN, an adolescent clinician who has spent nearly 30 years providing reproductive care to teens within primary care settings and educating nurse practitioner students to care for this population. The idea for this podcast series came from recent work on a collaborative project for NAPNAP that addressed reproductive access for adolescents. We felt that this series could help provide education to other nurse practitioners to help remove existing barriers and improve clinical care in this area. In this episode, guest Thelma Begley, PhD, an Assistant Professor in Children's Nursing at Trinity College in Ireland, shares the perspective towards contraceptives as seen by her country. This has been an exciting journey. Let's talk about it!

In our final regular episode of Transit Unplugged for 2023 we have Paul Skoutelas, President & CEO of APTA, and Petra Mollet, VP of Strategic International Programs at APTA talking with Paul about the year that was in 2023 and what we should be looking forward to in 2024.The boost in infrastructure funding was, of course, the big news of the year, but it's somewhat overshadowed by ongoing funding issues at many agencies across North America. But it's not all bad, because Taylor Swift's Eras Tour introduced a whole new audience to transit this year. In city after city, the Eras Tour triggered massive transit use to get to the concerts.Heading into 2024, everyone is optimistic that we're finally shaking off the focus on ridership numbers and moving towards what is the service we're offering, and are we serving everyone we should? Before we completely close out the year, we have a very special episode. We've traded episodes with the Talking Headways podcast and bringing you a special episode on the philosophy of planning our cities to be more accessible and inclusive. Looking At #Silver From An International Perspective By this point, you've likely heard plenty about how the pricing of gold and silver react to the latest developments out of the Federal Reserve, as well as the day to day movement in the pricing of the US dollar index. But using gold and silver as a means of protecting wealth isn't just limited to the US, and in many countries, gold is at an all time high right now, while silver is near the higher end of its range of the past few years. So in today's show we talk with Sam Lawrie of Adams Bullion in Australia to get an international perspective on the silver market. In Australia, silver is currently near its highs of the past decade, which comes at an opportune time given that Australia has also been dealing with the inflationary increase in consumer prices that just about every country on the globe is experiencing. And Sam shares how Australians are looking at the silver market, how they're viewing the Fed's management of the financial markets, and some of the relationships between the different currencies. Just above the U.S. is Azerbaijan, and just below is Brazil. “Civil unrest continues to be the primary driver of the deterioration,” the GPI report says about the U.S., noting rises in the political terror and political instability categories. “However, there were also significant improvements in indicators across all three domains, with largest being in the UN peacekeeping funding indicator.” Born and raised in England, Simon C. "I've long had concerns about the practice of psychoanalysis and that the theory underlying it has become a veritable Tower of Babel. We have these multiple views where everything is accepted as ‘psychoanalysis,' but they really can't be because they're very different models and they call for very different things. I also feel that our field in general is drifting into sociology so that our national and international meetings feel like there is very little room for clinical discussions, and there are just so many clinical discussions that we need to have." Episode Description: Fred's edited book Psychoanalysis at the Crossroads represents a 'state of the union' for our field. He has brought together contributions representing multiple points of view on a wide range of analytic topics, including those that are considered contentious. After he shares his purpose in compiling this work, we each read a paragraph which serves as a jumping-off point for a wide-ranging discussion. We cover definitions of analysis, the history of narcissistic defenses, the depth of analysis in contrast to more superficial approaches, the role of theory, listening to the impact of one's interventions, curriculum design and the intergenerational struggles around it, and the place of defense analysis. We conclude with Fred sharing with us his concerns for our future and his eagerness to continue to contribute to a depth understanding that can often offer profound relief of suffering to our patients. Our Guest: Fred Busch, Ph.D., is a Training and Supervising Analyst at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute and has been invited to teach at many Institutes. He has published over 80 articles on psychoanalytic techniques and six books.
