Message from Sam Rae on 4 December 2022
I think the first time I crossed paths with Dr. Sam Rae, EdD, MPH. was about a year ago. Not only did I appreciate her approach to DEI, but we also had some of the same interests and ideas (great minds)! As I continued to follow her social media presence, I noticed we were both surveying practitioners on burnout (see a theme here). From there we started to discuss ways we could collaborate and support each other as we support practitioners. Dr. Sam's DEI Blueprint is one that many new and early career practitioners need to grab. During this conversation, Dr. Sam and I cover what practitioners need to know if - they are responsible for creating their organization's DEI strategy - they want to continue to learn and grow as a professional, and - they feel they are having a difficult time disconnecting from the work. This is a conversation you don't want to miss! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/deiafter5/support

Justin Sims sits down with Janine Stella, Allie Severino and Sam Rae ( behind the camera) and talks about divorce, the excitement to Janine's new life and crazy adventures as she finds herself again We recommend neuro psychiatric addiction clinic in port saint Lucie, FL www.2ndactpodcast.com The best resources about divorce: Hope Builders Marriage counseling 2300 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd #200a, West Palm Beach, FL 33409 561-221-0880 My name is Dani Lynn and my life truly changed on December 23, 2015 by the Grace of God and the Universe. I started using drugs and alcohol at a very young age and couldn’t point out a specific situation that happened that made me turn to drugs and alcohol as my escape from reality. I just wanted to feel comfortable in my own skin and I was unsure of how to do that. I had watched many people in my life use alcohol on a daily basis and some of my closest loved ones use drugs, so I thought that was a normal thing to do. I never would have thought that once I started, it would have become such a part of my life and that it would have become so difficult to stop. I wasn’t sure what that meant for me, or if it was possible but I was willing to go to any length to find out. I sought out help from my family, who wanted nothing to do with me until they were sure I was ready to change. My family all pulled together for me and found a really hard rehab program that was 12 Step based, that I ended up staying in for just over a year. In that year I learned how to wake up at a regular time every day, eat breakfast, attend 12 Step meetings and groups that were all based around learning how to love myself so I could become a useful person to others, we did 4 hours of outside chores every weekend (which in Arizona’s summer, isn’t easy but I was reminded; “was I willing to go to ANY length to stay sober”), and I was. I learned how to get a job and pay my own way. I learned how to get honest with myself and others, I learned how to build a belief system, values and morals that were true and aligned with love. To me, God meant Love. Everything I wanted in life was about love. I just wanted to feel love, but in order to feel love I had to give love to others and in order to do that, I had to love myself first. I started to love myself by doing the next right thing in every aspect of my life. I worked the 12 steps of AA and started to get an understanding of myself, who I was, who I wanted to be and what I wanted in life. Part One On today’s episode we talk about CBD oil, also known as Cannabidiol. CBD is the non-intoxicating component of the cannabis plant and is used to treat a large variety of conditions including chronic pain, cancer, Crohn’s, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, PTSD, cardiovascular disease, anxiety, antibiotic-resistant infections, multiple sclerosis, schizophrenia, and more. We are joined by Dr. Mark waleck whose the founder of CBD science pod Which is a website where he not only offers high quality hemp products but also offers lifestyle counseling on using CBD Hemp extracts. We talk about 7 year old Christa who went from 200 seizures a week to not having one after the first seven days of CBD gummies treatment. It was the story that really helped change the laws for Medical Marijuana and really shined a light on CBD oil research in particular. It was the Sala Brothers in Colorado that developed the strain called hempworx which is a non psychoactive oil that contains less than 0.3% THC. RESEARCH: Researchers from the University of Alabama at Birmingham did a 2 year study on CBD Oil treating seizures , pain, and anxiety and found that in a study of 61 subjects 50% responded to the CBD oil therapy with overall sustained improvement in symptoms over a six month period. This show is sponsored by Dr. walek herbal CBD formulas are designed for men and women to mental focus, physical energy, stress reduction and a healthy libido. Part 1 CBD episode CBD serves as an antagonist to CB receptor agonists In other words, CBD “mutes” the effects of the CB1 or CB2 receptors CBD can elongate the “effect” of THC by inhibiting the cytochrome p450 enzymes Also an antagonist to the GPR55 CBD molecule found in the caudate nucleus section of the brain Because CBD cream does not attach to the CB1 or CB2 receptors, it's not addictive or habit forming CBD acts as an agonist for the 5-HT 1A receptor (for anti-depressant, anti-anxiety effects) CBD is an allosteric modulator of your opioid receptors for pain and chronic inflammation reduction Hormonal: CBD oil Reduces susceptibility to stress in HPA axis The pancreas secretes glucagon and insulin THC increases glucagon levels; CBD lowers insulin levels Lower rates of obesity and Type 2 diabetes among CBD users CBD oilHas been shown to modulate acute and chronic inflammation CBD is an excellent recovery compound (but not immediately after working out) How it affects insomnia: Cannabidiol activates the same adenosine receptors as caffeine CBD softgels can enhance or help sleep if caffeine is not present Third party test reports are made available; a CBD company doing things the right way isn't afraid of transparency 3 main ways to extract CBD at the moment: Ethanol is Taylor's preferred method for CBD product extraction Blended with coconut oil; some oil emulsions for topical use This is a first for us! We interviewed Dr. Mike Leez a CBD expert on the results of his study for weight loss using cbd - before he had even released the results to the public! Yes, we got the scoop on the study he completed, what he's doing for his next CBD oil study and possibilities for what's coming up after that. Additionally, we talked about liposomal hemp; what cbd, green tea, turmeric and ginger have in common; and some really great science around the cannabinoids.
