Food banks across Oregon are seeing record numbers of people coming in through their doors. Ever since the pandemic, the rising cost of living has been making it harder for families to afford food. And now, at a time when there is a hunger crisis going on, actions by the Trump administration and Congress threaten to make matters worse – far worse. In this episode of Policy for the People, we examine the dire state of hunger in Oregon. Our guest is with Andrea Williams, President of the Oregon Food Bank. Andrea discusses what food pantries in Oregon are seeing, the actions by the Trump administration that have cut support for food bank networks across the country, and the risk that Congress may weaken the nation's most important nutrition program. We also talk about the kinds of policy changes that can take us in a better direction, including Food For All Oregonians, a policy that would ensure that all young children in Oregon, regardless of their immigration status, have access to nutrition assistance. It is a policy proposal premised on the recognition that food is a human right.

It's Tuesday, April 8th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Horrific Muslim persecution of Christians in Sub-Saharan Africa The Gatestone Institute's International Policy Center has released its report on the persecution of Christians in Africa.   The report claims that the West is ignoring the carnage playing out in Sub-Sahara Africa, and that Muslim “Jihadists are murdering, raping, torturing, kidnapping, enslaving, and, in some instances, burning people alive — across Africa, and now in Syria.” The newly-installed Syrian government and the al-Qaeda-affiliated HTS terrorists, are still conducting door-to-door purges, massacring religious minorities in cruel, sadistic ways. Reliable reports indicate they have massacred 7,000 Christians and Alawites, a sect of Islam. And the death toll is still rising. Jihad is spreading in at least twelve African nations. Muslim jihadists beheaded 70 Christians in the Congo in February. Church leaders are targeted, abducted, tortured, and murdered. Christian villages have been burned down. Plus, pastors, priests and lay Christians have been abducted by the Islamist Allied Democratic Forces. More than 16.2 million Christians in Sub-Saharan Africa have been driven from their homes by jihadist violence and conflict. Women and girls are abducted, forced into "marriage," forced to convert to Islam, raped, and subjected to forced labor. Some are forced to act as suicide bombers or human shields at the hands of jihadis. Boko Haram and the Islamic State West African Province regularly attack, abduct, and murder Christians in Cameroon located in Central Africa. Churches have been set on fire and church leaders and seminary students kidnapped. Plus, the report claims that no Christian is safe in Burkina Faso, a country in West Africa.  Hundreds of churches there have been closed. The Muslim-run nation of Libya, in North Africa on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, countenances widespread slavery, forced labor, and human trafficking. Sharia law is strictly upheld. For a Muslim to convert to Christianity is a crime punishable by death. Any Libyan woman suspected of associating with Christians faces house arrest, sexual assault, forced marriage, or even death. Nigeria remains the worst example of Jihadist murder and mayhem. Tens of thousands of Christians have been murdered and thousands of women and girls have been abducted and subjected to sexual violence. But, do keep in mind what Jesus said in Matthew 16:18. He declared, “On this rock, I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” British Christian nurse in trouble for referring to confused man as man More outrageousness from the United Kingdom. A nurse has lost her job with the National Health Service because she was caught referring to a pedophile transgender person as a “Mister.” Nurse Jennifer Melle, age 40, was fired from her job in Carshalton, Surrey, after having to endure the patient hurling racial slurs at her. She added, “I am devastated to have been suspended. … Despite being the one placed at risk, I am the one being punished. The message I have received is clear: I am expected to tolerate racism, deny biological reality, and suppress my deeply-held Christian beliefs." Appearing on Free Speech Nation, she shared her Biblical convictions. MELLE: “I thank Jesus for giving me the courageous spirit, standing on the Word of God. According to the Word of God, Genesis 1:27 said, ‘God created a male and female.' I just stood by it. I said, ‘Well, I'm a Christian woman, and I love the Lord, and I know beyond male and female is an abomination to the Lord. And I can't do that.'” Represented by the Christian Legal Centre, Andrea Williams, its chief executive, criticized the National Health Service for allegedly focusing on trans ideology instead of protecting its staff from racial and physical abuse. U.S.-China tariff war heats up The tit-for-tat tariff war with China is heating up.   On Friday, China announced a 34% tariff on U.S. imports as an answer to President Trump's 34% reciprocal tariff. Yesterday, the U.S. president announced an additional tariff of 50% effective tomorrow, unless China backs down, reports CBS News. Aboard Air Force One on Sunday night, President Trump did not pull any punches. TRUMP: “When you look at the trade deficit that we have with certain countries, way over a billion [dollars] per country. With China, it's a trillion dollars. And we have to solve our trade deficit with China. We have a trillion dollar trade deficit with China. Hundreds of billions of dollars a year we lose with China. And unless we solve that problem, I'm not going to make a deal. “Now, I'm willing to deal with China, but they have to solve their surplus. We have a tremendous deficit problem with China. They have a surplus of at least a trillion dollars a year. And I want that solved. No other President has taken it on.” New Yorkers need “good moral character” before carrying handgun The U.S. Supreme Court let stand a New York law that requires residents to demonstrate “good moral character” before they are permitted to carry a handgun. The law requires applicants to have “the essential character, temperament and judgement necessary to be entrusted with a weapon and to use it only in a manner that does not endanger oneself or others.” Stocks, Dow Jones, and Nasdaq down U.S. stocks are down over the last week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 4,000 points, 11% down for the year.   And the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite was down by about 2,000 points, settling around 15,570 points on Monday evening. The Nasdaq is down 19% on the year, about where it was in November 2021.  Court awards 7,000 sexual abuse victims $4 billion in Los Angeles While the state-controlled foster care system is supposed to protect children, the unaccountable system, made up of sinful men and women, has become the predator. Last week, the courts awarded a record $4 billion against the Los Angeles County's juvenile detention and foster care system. The settlement was the largest of this kind, distributed to 7,000 plaintiffs — victims of unspeakable sexual abuse. L.A. officials have issued concerns that the fine might bankrupt the county.  The rise of America's “assassination culture” The Network of Contagion Research Institute and Rutgers University's Social Perception Lab have issued a report concerned with a rising “assassination culture” in the United States.  Especially troubling is the view that 31% of respondents stated it would be at least somewhat justifiable to murder Elon Musk.  And 38% said it would be at least somewhat justifiable to murder President Donald Trump. Among those who identify left of center, 48% to 55% would justify these assassinations. 22 million watched House of David finale And finally, the producers of the Amazon-released program, House of David, announced over the weekend, that the season finale had achieved #1 on Prime. WatchWonderProject took to Instagram with a message: “All glory to God!” Thus far, the program has brought in 22 million viewers. Of Amazon's new releases in 2025, House of David has taken the top position, holding its own in the top 10 for 38 days. Producer and writer for House of David, Jon Erwin, previously produced Christian films like October Baby, I Can Only Imagine, and American Underdog. The studio has announced a forthcoming Season 2. Let us not forget David's greater Son who reigns today, over all. Luke 1:32 declares, “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to Him the throne of his father David.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, April 8th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. It's Wednesday, March 12th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark British street preacher faced Muslim death threats A court in the United Kingdom threw out a case against a Christian street preacher this week. Back in 2023, Karandeep Mamman faced death threats from a group of Muslims for sharing the Gospel with them. To his shock, police later charged him with causing religiously aggravated harassment.  Karandeep won his case in court thanks to the help of the Christian Legal Centre. Andrea Williams, a leader with the Christian Legal Centre, said, “The CCTV footage reveals Karandeep being assaulted, threatened and surrounded, for expressing his Christian beliefs, yet it is he that ends up being prosecuted by the police.”  After the ruling, Karandeep said, “I am relieved and pleased that the judge threw the case out and I give all the glory to Jesus.” In Romans 1:16, the Apostle Paul wrote, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.” Ukraine agrees to 30-day ceasefire with Russia Ukraine agreed to a 30-day ceasefire in the war with Russia.  U.S. and Ukrainian officials announced the agreement yesterday after talks in Saudi Arabia. The ceasefire is now pending approval by Russia.  Secretary of State Marco Rubio led the U.S. delegation. RUBIO: “We'll take this offer now to the Russians, and we hope that they'll say yes, that they'll say yes to peace. The ball is now in their court.  But again, the President's objective, [Donald Trump], here is number one above everything else. He wants the war to end, and I think today, Ukraine has taken a concrete step in that regard. We hope the Russians will reciprocate.” Rubio added, “It'll be up to [Russia] to say yes or no. If they say no, then we'll unfortunately know what the impediment is to peace here.” Following Ukraine's agreement to the ceasefire, the Trump administration said it would resume military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine.   United States increasing influence over Panama Canal The United States is increasing its influence over the Panama Canal. BlackRock, the American investment company, is leading a consortium to buy over 40 ports in 23 countries for $23 billion. A conglomerate based in Hong Kong is selling its control of the ports. The deal includes the ports on either end of the Panama Canal as well as ports in Mexico, the Netherlands, Egypt, Australia, and Pakistan.  President Donald Trump touted the deal as reclaiming the Panama Canal from Chinese influence.  House OKs continuing resolution funding gov't through end of fiscal year On Tuesday, the House voted 217-213 to pass the Republicans' continuing resolution that would avert a partial government shutdown that was set to begin Friday. The bill will now go to the Senate, where its prospects remain uncertain, reports The Daily Signal. The GOP-backed Continuing Resolution passed the House along party lines with the exception of Republican Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky who remained the only Republican in opposition. All Democrats voted against it, except Democratic Congressman Jared Golden of Maine. Now, the Continuing Resolution will face an even greater test in the Senate, where Republicans will have to win over the votes of at least seven Democrats or independents in order to bring the bill to the floor. Navy no longer pays for abortion travel The U.S. Navy announced last week it will no longer cover travel-related expense or provide leave for its service members to get abortions. The new policy ends a pro-abortion policy from the Biden administration. The Coast Guard also updated its policies to no longer cover travel expenses or grant leave for abortions. YouTube TV discriminates against Christian programming The Federal Communications Commission is questioning YouTube TV over allegations that it discriminates against Christian programming.  Brendan Carr, the Chairman of the FCC, sent a letter last week to the CEOs of Alphabet and Google which own YouTube TV. The letter cites a complaint from Great American Media. The network shares family-friendly and Christian content. It's one of the fastest growing networks and is carried on many cable and streaming services, but not on YouTube TV.  Carr noted, “These concerning allegations come at a time when American public discourse has experienced an unprecedented—and unacceptable—surge in censorship.” Franklin Graham preached to 400,000 Ethiopians And finally, Evangelist Franklin Graham preached to over 400,000 people in Ethiopia this past weekend. GRAHAM: “He took your sins and my sins, and He went to the grave. He died. He was buried, but on the third day, God raised His Son to life. Jesus isn't dead. He is alive.  He's in Ethiopia tonight, and He'll come into each and every heart that invites Him.” The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association organized the event with over 1,600 Evangelical churches in the country. They held the event in Meskal Square in Ethiopia's capital of Addis Ababa. Meskal Square means “Cross Square.” The square was the place where infamous Communist rallies once took place. During the event, Graham posted on Facebook. He said, “Sixty-five years ago today, my father Billy Graham preached the Gospel here in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and it is such a privilege for me to be able to preach here this weekend. … Please pray for these new believers and the local Evangelical churches as they follow up with them.” Speaking of Jesus, Acts 4:12 says, “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, March 12th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Then, in 2023, a federal report said that the state underfunded the university by far more than the original estimate — about $2 billion dollars just between 1987 and 2020. This fall, TSU laid off more than 100 employees and just last month the administration announced further cost-saving measures to keep from running out of money by the end of the school year. It's Wednesday, October 16th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Britain burdens parents with tax on private school tuition The U.K. Labor government will require private schools to charge a value-added tax on school fees starting next year. Christian schools are challenging the measure with the help of the Christian Legal Centre. The group warned “the policy will force Christian schools to close and deny Christian parents the right to give their children a Christian rather than a secular education.” Nearly 400,000 students attend independent faith schools in England, most of which are Christian. Andrea Williams with the Christian Legal Centre said, “It is unfair, and we argue, it is a breach of their human right to impose a value-added tax on such schools. [The] Labour [Party] must row back on this policy urgently. If they don't, we will have no choice but to pursue every legal avenue in the pursuit of justice and protection of independent Christian schools in this country.” United Kingdom getting its first Chick-fil-A Speaking of the United Kingdom, the nation will be getting its first Chick-fil-A locations according to an announcement from the restaurant last month. Known for its chicken sandwiches, Chick-fil-A is the third-largest fast-food restaurant chain in the U.S. It has over 3,000 locations across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada. The U.K. locations will be the first outside North America. Chick-fil-A plans on investing $100 million in the U.K. over the next 10 years, continuing its model of locally-owned and operated restaurants. Supreme Court rejected a religious liberty/COVID case Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear a religious liberty case brought by a church. Grace Bible Fellowship had successfully challenged Colorado's COVID-19 restrictions on churches in 2020. The church continued its case though, saying that state health laws could be used against churches in the future. Despite the case coming to an end, a U.S. District judge noted, “That these statutes have been used in the recent past to adopt public-health orders that likely discriminated against religious activity is troubling.” Poll says Trump has lead over Harris in battleground states A new Harvard Center for American Political Studies/Harris poll found former President Donald Trump has a slight lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in battleground states. Trump leads Harris 48% to 46% overall in swing states. Trump also leads among early voters in those states. However, Kamala holds a slight lead nationally. Both candidates are focusing on the swing states ahead of the presidential election next month.   69% of adults have little trust in mass media Gallup released a survey on how much Americans trust political and civic institutions. Sixty-nine percent of U.S. adults have little to no confidence in the mass media, up from 49% in 2000. That makes it the least trusted institution. The second least trusted institution is the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. However, Americans were much more likely to have confidence in local and state leaders. Psalm 146:3, 5, says, “Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. … Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God.” Religiously unaffiliated Americans on the rise The American Bible Society released the latest chapter of the State of the Bible USA 2024 report, entitled “Nones – N-O-N-E-S -- and Nominals”.  The study found 26% of U.S. adults are religiously unaffiliated -- up from 22% in 2020. The irreligious scored lower on the Human Flourishing Index than the average American, especially in the Meaning and Purpose category. Not surprisingly, practicing Christians scored higher than any other group on the Human Flourishing Index. Anniversary of martyrdoms of two English reformers And finally, today is the anniversary of the martyrdom of two English Reformers. Their names were Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridley. Both were bishops in the Church of England. Ridley was born in 1502, becoming a great scholar and renouncing Roman Catholic doctrine. Latimer was born earlier in 1485. He became a great Reformation preacher, also rejecting Catholic traditions. His preaching brought Protestant teachings effectively to the middle and lower classes. However, a Catholic queen came to power in England in 1553. She was known as “Bloody Mary” for her deadly persecution of Protestants. After her ascension to power, Latimer and Ridley were tried for their beliefs and burned at the stake on October 16, 1555. As they faced death together, Latimer told his friend, “Be of good comfort, Master Ridley, and play the man; we shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out.” In Romans 8:36-37, the Apostle Paul wrote, “As it is written: ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.' Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, October 16th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Harris announced that these trips will be taken "to organize, build community, and fight back" against what she calls a "full-on attack on a woman's fundamental freedom to make decisions about her own body" across the nation. The pro-abortion tour will kick off in Wisconsin on Jan. 22, which marks the 51st anniversary of the now-overturned Roe v. Wade. The White House promises that "Vice President Harris will also hold extremists accountable for proposing a national abortion ban," although it does not specify what those consequences may be. https://thenationalpulse.com/2023/12/18/britain-bans-prayer-near-abortion-clinics/ Britain BANS PRAYER Near Abortion Clinics. England’s High Court has upheld a local government order establishing a so-called “buffer zone” against prayers being said near an abortion clinic. Livia Tossici-Bolt, who heads the pro-life group 40 Days for Life Bournemouth, and Christian Concern had attempted to overturn the ban, arguing it “criminalized prayer and reading from the Bible”. Judges determined on Friday that the banning order “lawfully followed the democratic and consultative procedures”. They said any infringements of freedom of religion, speech, and the right to protest were “justified by the legitimate aim of protecting the rights of women attending the clinic.” Christian Concern intends to appeal the decision. “Peaceful witness near abortion centers are helpful to many women in crisis pregnancies, offering genuine choice by providing support,” argued Christian Legal Centre chief executive Andrea Williams. British police are exceptionally rigid in enforcing “buffer zones” protecting abortionists. Lone Christians have in some cases been arrested or fined for praying silently inside their heads near clinics. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/immigration/border-officials-encounter-14-509-illegal-immigrants-new-record Biden border crisis shatters record with 14,509 illegal immigrants encountered in one day U.S. border officials encountered the highest number of illegal immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border on Monday than any day, upending all other records that the Biden administration has set over the past three years. The Washington Examiner obtained internal U.S. Customs and Border Protection data Tuesday that revealed 14,509 immigrants were encountered by federal law enforcement at the southern border on Monday. The large majority of encounters were of immigrants who walked around the port of entry and crossed into the country illegally, while a small percentage tried to enter at the port of entry but were denied admission. The most recent record of 12,000 was set last week, according to Fox News. If yesterday's rate of 14,509 arrests per day continued for a month, it would translate to more than 435,000 immigrant arrests. Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX), whose district runs along 800 miles of the 2,000-mile border, described the situation in his region as "all very sad." Gonzales told the Washington Examiner in a text message Tuesday morning that he believes the situation in Eagle Pass, Texas, a border town where 2,500 immigrants were arrested on Sunday, will continue to decline but that the extent would depend on how the Biden administration responds. "Depends on how much pressure gets put on U.S. and Mexican officials," Gonzales wrote. House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) reacted to the new one-day record on X, formerly Twitter. "Another Record: Over 14,500 illegal immigrants have been encountered while entering our country," Green wrote. "This has been the single worst 24 hours for our Southwest border in our nation’s history." Border officials in the Eagle Pass-Del Rio region encountered 3,100 illegal immigrants Monday, while officials in the Tucson region of Arizona encountered 3,089 people. Government numbers obtained Tuesday show 26,758 immigrants were in custody as of Tuesday morning, including 5,197 in Del Rio, Texas; 5,004 in Tucson, Arizona; 4,968 in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas; and 4,722 in El Paso, Texas. Existing Border Patrol stations in the Eagle Pass area are too small to accommodate more than several hundred people, so immigrants are being processed at a large tent facility outside town known as "Firefly" for the road that it is located on. The tent facility was set up last year with the intent of holding up to 1,000 immigrants, but as of Tuesday, more than 3,000 immigrants were at the site — putting the facility three times over the legal limit. Border Patrol is also busing immigrants to other regions for processing. One official at the tent facility told the Washington Examiner that it sends out 30 to 50 large buses of immigrants to other regions each day. Border Patrol highway checkpoints, including the only one north of Eagle Pass, were shuttered this week as agents were pulled to transport and process migrants. President Joe Biden has yet to react to the situation. The Department of Homeland Security did not respond to a request for comment. https://www.dailyfetched.com/germany-begins-deploying-troops-for-first-time-since-world-war-ii/ Germany Begins Deploying Troops for First Time since World War II The announcement was made on Monday in Lithuania, where Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas met Boris Pistoriusto to outline a “Roadmap Action Plan” involving 4,800 permanently stationed German soldiers. The new move was described as “historical” for both nations and NATO. German troops will be stationed in the Lithuanian cities of Kaunas and Vilnius in early 2024, with the majority of troops being deployed in 2025 and 2026 and full-operation capability expected by 2027. Meanwhile, Lithuania committed to providing all necessary civilian and military infrastructure. “The German commitment of permanently stationing a brigade in Lithuania is a historical step for both Germany and Lithuania,” Anusauskas said Monday, according to a press release. “We are turning over to a page of even deeper strategic partnership. Pistorius noted the step as being positive for defense relations, considering the war between Ukraine and Russia, We will ensure reliable deterrence, and we will be ready to [defend] NATO. We are sending a clear signal with this step to those who present a threat to peace and security in Europe.” Newsweek reported that experts within the two defense ministries formulated the plan: “Most of the German troops will be stationed in the territory of Rūdninkai military training ground, while the rest will be deployed in the town of Rukla, where some 1,000 allied troops already reside.” Logistical hubs will cater to the new brigade, including three maneuver battalions and combat support and supply units formed by new and existing units.“ “The 203rd Panzer Battalion, based in North Rhine-Westphalia, and the 122nd Armored Infantry Battalion, based in Bavaria, will be moved to Lithuania. Lithuania’s enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group will be transformed into a multinational battalion to become “an integral part of the brigade,” the release said. The head of the parliamentary National Security and Defense Committee, Laurynas Kasciunas, said the country would allocate 0.3 percent of its gross domestic product to help fund the deployment and to build housing. Earlier this year, Germany faced pressure from the US to provide Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. https://pjmedia.com/vodkapundit/2023/12/18/americans-yawn-at-cdc-warnings-about-tripledemic-n4924835 Americans Yawn at CDC Warnings About 'Tripledemic' While America's public health officials issue one warning after another about this winter's "tripledemic" of COVID, flu, and RSV, the American public is responding with a collective yawn — if vaccination rates are anything to go by. The CDC's most recent weekly vaccination update says that "receipt of the COVID-19 vaccine is low across all socio-demographic subgroups and has consistently varied by age, race and ethnicity, poverty status, health insurance status, and urbanicity." As of December 2, fewer than 18% of adults reported getting the updated COVID-19 vaccine since Sept. 14, and about another 15% of adults said they would "definitely" get vaccinated. RSV — respiratory syncytial virus infection — is another one of those bugs that poses its most serious risk to the 60-and-over crowd. Although a serious RSV infection might require hospitalization, the uptake rate among the eligible 60-plus cohort is just 16%. Vaccinations for the ordinary flu are down a bit, too. "Adult vaccination rates for influenza reached their peak for the 2020-2021 cycle," the Washington Examiner reported on Monday, "with 50.2% of those over 18 getting vaccinated. For the 2022-2023 season, however, only 46.9% of the same population obtained their shot." Rates are expected to be about the same or lower for the current 2023-2024 flu season. The drop isn't huge but the trendline is clear: Americans don't seem to be all that worried about the flu — and aren't concerned at all about COVID or RSV. That's not for any lack of effort on the part of our public health system. The CDC began its big vaccination push more than two months ago, with this tragically hip tweet from CDC director Mandy Cohen. Chicago health officials took a more traditional (and much less wince-inducing) approach on Monday, with Dr. Colleen Nash, associate professor of pediatrics in the division of infectious diseases at Rush University Medical Center, warning, "We’ve now been lucky enough to kind of live with COVID but still enjoy normal life and activities and things. And that is directly attributable, at least in part, to vaccinations. So I would really encourage people to do that if they haven’t already." While reports show that Illinois' hospitalization rate for COVID is "ticking up," the actual numbers aren't anything like 2020, with an additional 1,251 COVID hospital admissions this week statewide. And yet according to the Chicago Tribune, only about 11% of city residents are fully up to date on their COVID vaccinations. The CDC tried on Twitter/X again on Saturday, reminding readers, "‘Tis the season for joy and family. Now is the time to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and flu before you see your loved ones again." "Visit vaccines.gov to find vaccines near you." The ratio, as the kids like to say, is epic. While the replies were all over the place in tone, this one reasonable-sounding tweet captured the general sentiment. When vaccination rates are down even for the innocuous (and generally trusted) flu shot, it's clear that the CDC no longer enjoys the clout it used to with the American public.

This amounts to a doubling of interest costs over the past 19 months, according to Bloomberg. It is the equivalent of 15.9 percent of the Federal budget for fiscal year 2022. The worsening metrics may reignite debate about the US fiscal path amid heavy borrowing from Washington. That dynamic has already helped drive up bond yields, threatened the return of the so-called bond vigilantes and led Fitch Ratings to downgrade US government debt in August. “There will be further increases to Treasury coupon auctions and T-bills outstanding going forward,” Bloomberg Intelligence strategists Ira Jersey and Will Hoffman wrote in a research note. “Besides deficits of over $2 trillion in the foreseeable future, climbing maturities following the increase of issuance from March 2020 will also need to be refinanced.” The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the cumulative deficit for the 2024–2033 period will total $20.2 trillion, or 6.1 percent of GDP. Deficits are expected to be at least 5.5 percent of GDP every year for the coming decade. Since 1973, the federal government budget deficit has averaged 3.6 percent of GDP. https://dailycaller.com/2023/11/07/van-jones-biden-retire-2024-election-drop-out/ ‘It’s Time’: CNN’s Van Jones Says Biden Needs To Consider Retiring CNN’s Van Jones said Tuesday that President Joe Biden needs to consider retiring following a poll from The New York Times/Siena College. The Sunday poll found president Donald Trump leading Biden by a substantial margin in five out of six key swing states. Biden holds a slight edge within the margin of error over Trump in Wisconsin. Jones argued Biden is in a tough position. Video Plays Several pundits have questioned whether Biden should drop out of the race, with CNN’s David Axelrod saying the president needs to decide whether staying in the race is “in his best interest or the country’s.” Director of Defending Democracy Together Bill Kristol posted on X that Biden needs to make an act of “personal sacrifice.” “It’s time. President Biden has served our country well. I’m confident he’ll do so for the next year. But it’s time for an act of personal sacrifice and public spirit. It’s time to pass the torch to the next generation. It’s time for Biden to announce he won’t run in 2024,” Kristol wrote. https://hotair.com/karen-townsend/2023/11/07/future-darwin-award-winner-tried-to-target-jewish-children-in-americas-midwest-n590580 Future Darwin Award Winner Tried to Target Jewish Children in America's Midwest A woman in Indiana plowed her car into a building she thought was a Jewish school. The police describe her as a terrorist and she was arrested at the scene. Not only was her intention to hurt or kill Jewish school children in their school in Indianapolis but she was completely mistaken about her target. The 34-year-old terrorist woman, allegedly backed her vehicle into a building associated with Black Hebrew Israelites on Friday. She admitted to the police that she specifically targeted the building because she was offended by a Hebrew Israelite symbol in front. This psycho thought she was entitled to try to harm children because she was offended by a symbol in front of the building, apparently. There were several adults and children in the building at the time. However, they were not who the woman thought they were. She said, “Yes. I did it on purpose.” She kept describing the building as the “Israel school” and she spoke about “her people back in Palestine.” According to the Anti-Defamation League, the Israelite School of Universal and Practical Knowledge is a sect of the Black Hebrew Israelites. It is an extremist group that is anti-Israel. The Southern Poverty Law Center (I know) has designated them as a hate group. So, ironically, the unhinged and offended the woman plowed into the building used by a group who hate Israel as she does. She is Darwin Award material. An investigation is underway. There may be additional charges brought against her. The Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis said Safe Indiana, a Jewish community security program, is working with cops to probe the incident. “Safety and security for our community is of the utmost importance, and we are more secure and prepared than ever before,” the federation said in a statement. “Although a Jewish facility was not targeted, solely due to ironic misidentification, this is yet another reminder to maintain security protocols, remain vigilant of suspicious activity and to (report promptly) to the appropriate authorities.” These random acts of terror seem to be increasing. FBI Director Christopher Wray recently warned of lone wolf attacks. Wray said Hamas inspired terrorists pose a threat not seen since the days of ISIS. She confessed that she was motivated to do the attack after watching news coverage of the Israel-Hamas war. She is originally from Amman, Jordan. Wray said that while Hamas is assessed to have no capabilities inside the US, other actors – possible radicalized individuals or small groups – could take inspiration from the terror group in a way similar to ISIS. Speaking to the Senate’s Homeland Security Committee, he said: “We assess that the actions of Hamas and its allies will serve as an inspiration, the likes of which we haven’t seen since ISIS launched its so-called caliphate several years ago. “In just the past few weeks, multiple foreign terrorist organizations have called for attacks against Americans and the West.” He said: “Here in the United States, our most immediate concern is that violent extremists – individuals or small groups – will draw inspiration from the events in the Middle East to carry out attacks against Americans going about their daily lives.” She was charged with a preliminary charge of criminal recklessness. Her first court appearance is scheduled for today, November 8. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/255928/vatican-hospital-offers-to-treat-critically-ill-baby-denied-life-support-in-britain Vatican hospital offers to treat critically ill baby denied life support in Britain The Vatican’s pediatric hospital has offered to treat 8-month-old baby Indi Gregory after a British court ruled that she be removed from life support against her parents’ wishes. Gregory, who was born in February, suffers from a rare degenerative mitochondrial disease and has been receiving life-sustaining treatment on a ventilator at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, England. After England’s high court ruled that it was in the child’s “best interests” to be taken off life support, Gregory’s parents appealed to take her to Rome for treatment, an appeal that was denied by a British judge over the weekend. The Italian government decided in an emergency meeting on Monday to grant the critically ill child Italian citizenship and to cover the cost of her medical treatment at the Vatican’s Bambino Gesù (jay-zoo) hospital. “They say there isn’t much hope for little Indi, but until the very end, I’ll do what I can to defend her life,” Italian President Giorgia Meloni wrote on social media on Nov. 6. “And to defend the right of her mamma and papa to do all that they can for her.” The Bambino Gesù hospital has previously offered medical treatment to other critically ill children, including Alfie Evans in 2018 and Charlie Gard in 2017, both of whom were ultimately denied the chance to travel to Italy by U.K. courts and died days after being removed from life support. Christian Concern has published a letter from the president of the Bambino Gesù hospital outlining “a detailed treatment plan” for the child, which includes “life-sustaining treatment and palliative care to ensure Indi’s survival and comfort while the treatments take effect.” Andrea Williams, chief executive of Christian Concern and the Christian Legal Centre supporting the Gregorys’ case, has noted that this is believed to be the first time that a parent’s appeal against an order to withdraw life-sustaining treatment has been rejected by the Court of Appeal without a hearing. “The law is there to protect life and the most vulnerable in our society. What is happening in this case sets a very worrying precedent with regard to that principle,” Williams said. “It is very concerning that a child can be held against the parents’ wishes when they have alternative treatment available.” With the newly granted Italian citizenship, the child’s parents, Dean Gregory and Claire Staniforth, can appeal to the Italian consulate in Britain to request that their daughter be airlifted to Italy for treatment, according to Reuters. Simone Pillon (pee-lone), an Italian lawyer assisting the Gregory family, wrote on Nov. 7: “We are working to find an agreement between the two countries to satisfy the family’s request and treat Indi in Rome.” In response to the Italian government’s decision, Dean Gregory, Indi’s father, said: “My heart fills up with joy that the Italians have given Claire and I hope and faith back in humanity. The Italians have shown us care and loving support and I wish the U.K. authorities were the same.” https://nypost.com/2023/11/06/news/texas-southern-tuba-player-punches-heckler-in-the-stands-video/ Marching Band turns into Marching Hands? Texas Southern band member punches heckler in the stands, continues playing - He didn’t miss a beat. A Texas Southern University tuba player swiftly knocked out an obnoxious heckler during a football game Saturday before carrying on playing his instrument. Video taken from the stands during Saturday’s game between Texas Southern and Jackson State shows the college band’s tuba player bouncing along to the music while a fan starts yelling at him. A Jackson State fan can be seen in the footage aggressively yelling at the tuba player, who is attempting to continue playing with the band. Seeming to have had enough of the outburst, the Texas Southern tuba player says something to the man before swiftly punching him four times in the face. The Texas Southern band member then returns to his instrument as if the altercation never happened. In one recording of the incident, the band member can be heard telling the aggressive fan, “F–k off, b—h.” It’s unclear whether the heckler, who stumbled back several feet in the stands, sustained any injuries from the scuffle. It’s also unclear whether police responded to the incident or if any action was taken against the band member. Texas Southern University ended up losing to Jackson State, 21-19. https://www.outkick.com/field-hockey-teammate-issues-bold-statement-against-miaa-for-allowing-male-players-to-compete-against-women/ FIELD HOCKEY CAPTAIN SLAMS MASSACHUSETTS LAW ALLOWING BOYS ON GIRLS TEAMS AFTER BRUTAL INJURY TO HER TEAMMATE Men competing against women in sports spawned another tragic story on Thursday when a female field hockey player suffered significant injuries to her face after taking a shot from a male opponent. The female high schooler played on Dighton-Rehoboth High School’s team, and now the co-captain / teammate of her squad is speaking up and calling for policy change to prohibit men from competing against women to avoid further incidents. Kelsey Bain, who plays on Dighton-Rehoboth and is the co-captain of the field hockey team, posted a letter on X, directed at the MIAA to change the association’s policy that allows men to compete against women. “This is a letter I sent to the MIAA in response to the recent Swampscott vs. Dighton-Rehoboth field hockey incident,” Kelsey Bain posted on X, including the three-page notice. Women’s rights activist and OutKick host Riley Gaines shared Bain’s statement on social media. The man played for Swampscott High School, who played Dighton-Rehoboth in a playoff field hockey contest on Thursday. Under the MIAA’s ruling — the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association — men can compete against women if a sport does not offer their gender’s league. The man’s shot knocked several of the girl’s teeth out and caused serious facial injuries. Video of the hit shows the girl writhing in pain and screaming. To prevent these incidents from continuing, Kelsey Bain is stepping into the discourse, understanding that the association will not budge on the issue unless they are challenged. Dighton-Rehoboth Superintendent Bill Runey put out a statement, identifying that the opponent was indeed a man and relaying the horror of the team personnel after one of their own suffered a brutal injury. Runey said, “Last night, a female field hockey player for the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School girls’ field hockey team sustained significant facial and dental injuries when she was struck in the face by a shot in the third quarter versus Swampscott in an MIAA state playoff contest. “The shot was taken by a male member of the Swampscott girls field hockey team. This injury required hospitalization. The player, her family, teammates, and coaches remain in my prayers.”

It's Wednesday, June 21st, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark British school upset with Christian teacher over pronoun usage A county council in England is demanding nearly $20,000 in legal costs from a Christian teacher. A primary school in the county fired the teacher, identified as Hannah, for not using preferred pronouns for students pretending to be the opposite gender. Hannah challenged this in court only to be brushed aside and ordered to pay the school's legal costs. The Christian Legal Centre is backing Hannah's litigation. Andrea Williams with the organization said, “Hannah's is not an isolated case. Any teacher who dares to raise an issue around the promotion of LGBTQ ideologies in schools . . . is likely to face sanction and dismissal.”  The Swiss are rejecting God Once at the heart of the Protestant Reformation in Europe, Switzerland is seeing its population identifying more and more with no religion. Recently released figures from 2021 show over 32% of people in the country are among these religious “nones” – N-O-N-E-S – as in no religion, up from 1.2% in 1970. Roman Catholic affiliation dropped from 46% to 32% over the same period. And Protestant Reformed affiliation dropped from 48% to 21%.  Psalm 14:1 says, "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'" Most people support sexually perverted lifestyles A new survey from Pew Research evaluates support for faux homosexual marriage among countries around the world.  People in most of the countries surveyed expressed more support than opposition for sexually perverted lifestyles. However, opposition to vile passions was strong in Central and Southeast Europe (Greece, Poland, and Hungary), parts of the Asian-Pacific (South Korea and Indonesia), as well as Africa and the Middle East (Kenya, Nigeria, and Israel).  Estonia supports homosexual faux marriage On Tuesday, Estonia became the first country in Central Europe to approve of faux homosexual marriage.  The practice is already legal in much of Western Europe, but not Central Europe. Prime Minister Kaja Kallas told Reuters, “My message (to central Europe) is that it's a difficult fight, but marriage and love is something that you have to promote.” But God said in Isaiah 5:20-21, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness . . . Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” Hunter Biden's sweetheart deal to avoid jail time On Tuesday, President Joe Biden's son, Hunter, got a sweetheart deal and appeared to avoid jail time, reports The Epoch Times. Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss notified the U.S. District Court that Hunter intended to plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts for willful failure to pay his taxes for two years. Weiss said Hunter also agreed to enter a pretrial diversion agreement for obtaining a firearm at a time that he was actively using or addicted to a controlled substance, which is illegal. The tax charges each carry a maximum penalty of 12 months in prison. The firearm charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, but the pretrial diversion agreement could allow Hunter to avoid a criminal conviction and a related criminal punishment. At least one Republican critic of Biden's plea deal, House Oversight Committee Chairman Republican James Comer of Kentucky, has also said Republican lawmakers would continue to investigate the Biden family. Comer has been leading efforts in the Republican-controlled House to investigate claims of corruption and influence peddling tied to the Biden family. Last month, Comer described a possible money laundering scheme in which $10 million flowed from private clients, corporations, and foreign governments, to dozens of limited liability companies controlled by members of the Biden family. COVID-19 Vaccine Stories You Were Never Told First, the government told us that the COVID vaccine would prevent infection.  Then, it claimed that the COVID vaccine would prevent transmission of the coronavirus.   What we were never told was that there was a risk of serious injury or death. On today's edition of Generations Radio, I guest host for Kevin Swanson to interview Cindy Drukier (pronounced DROOK-air), The Epoch Times producer and narrator of an eye-opening 90-minute documentary entitled The Unseen Crisis: COVID-19 Vaccine Stories You Were Never Told. DRUKIER: “Millions of people rolled up their sleeves to do their part to end the pandemic. They say they've been abandoned by everyone except a small group of doctors brave enough to say, ‘we're facing a new disease: vaccine injury.'” DOCTOR: “This is a tragedy of untold proportions which our federal government and state agencies pretends doesn't exist.” To listen to my entire 37-minute interview with Cindy Drukier, producer of “An Unseen Crisis: COVID-19 Vaccine Stories You Were Never Told,” go to www.Generations.org/radio. It's one of the lowest opening weekends in Pixar's history. And there's a good reason why. “Elemental” features the studio's first non-binary character for kids.  You would think that Pixar would have learned their lesson from last year's box-office disappointment called “Lightyear.” It was the latest film in the Toy Story series which featured a lesbian kiss between two female characters. It's Fringe time again and as usual, the Dublin Fringe Festival has a host of female-led art and showomanship to discover. In today's episode we highlight some of the brilliant events by women taking place in venues across the capital from the 10th to the 25th of September. (You won't want to miss Growler, the story of an 82-year-old inner-city vulva for just one brilliant example). Róisín Ingle is joined in this episode by the women of Hive City Legacy: Dublin Chapter, a project from the Hot Brown Honey collective, a group of women of colour disrupting the arts industry. The show was created by director Lisa Fa'alafi and music maestro “Busty Beatz” aka Kim Bowers and they talked to Róisín about the joy of being disruptive and exploring gender, class and identity through art. Also on the podcast is dancer and stylist Andrea Williams, who features in the show in collaboration with seven other Irish women of colour reclaiming their narrative through dance, song, poetry and performance. Baseball is traditionally a male-dominated sport. However, throughout the history of the game there have been women players, coaches, managers and journalists fighting to make space for themselves and others – including here in Tennessee.  Friday marks the debut of Amazon's new series, A League of Their Own, which follows the journey of the All-American Professional Girls Baseball League during World War II. We're starting off by talking about the series with cast member Saidah Arrika Ekulona. Then author and artist Anika Orrock tells us more about the real-life history of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, and shares some of the highlights of women's baseball history that took place in Tennessee, from Jackie Mitchell to Mo'one Davis. We're also joined by Andrea Williams to discuss women in baseball who aren't players, as well as the future of women in baseball.  But first, Nashville Scene reporter Eli Motycka and Harpeth Hall student Hallie Graham discuss gender diversity at the historically all-girls school. Guests:  Eli Motycka, Nashville Scene reporter Hallie Graham, student at Harpeth Hall Saidah Arrika Ekulona, actress who plays Toni Chapman in the new Amazon series, A League of Their Own Anika Orrock, artist and author of The Incredible Women of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League Andrea Williams, freelance journalist and author of Baseball's Leading Lady: Effa Manley and the Rise and Fall of the Negro Leagues Additional Reading:  Nashville Scene: Harpeth Hall Confronts Gender Diversity

Whether in the Church or the White House, at home or in our nation’s schools, many in our culture, including Christians, are facing an identity crisis. If we fall prey to the deceptive influences that tear us away from our ties to our Maker, Creator and Savior. At TruthXchange we are excited to present our latest symposium, “Stolen Identity: The Theft of the Binary in Contemporary Society,” will remind Christians that the only place we can safely ground our identity is in God, in the binary truth of Twoism, where God and the creation are distinct and where distinction is a good thing for our identity. Hello, and welcome to the Women Leaders podcast! I'm Patti Phillips, CEO of Women Leaders in College Sports. Today, we are back for round two with Andrea Williams, now the Chief Experience Officer for the NBA Utah Jazz.  When we last talked to Andrea on episode 38, she had just moved from the Commissioner of the Big Sky to become the CFO of the College Football Playoff.  Now that she's made the jump to pro sports as a CXO (that's chief experience officer – coolest job title ever) with the Utah Jazz we thought it was time for another check in.     Listen in to hear how her work in college sports prepared her for this new role, how her leadership has evolved since being the Commissioner of the Big Sky, and what she believes is the most important skill that leaders possess.  We discuss the similarities and differences between working in intercollegiate athletics and pro sports, as well as the barriers women and women of color face in both spaces.  And we talk about and how to overcome those.   Lots of great info here so don't miss a moment of it. Enjoy, and remember...We are Women Leaders!
