Jeff Gothard is the Co-Founder of KIC Hospitality, a hospitality consulting service based in Austin, TX. Jeff Got his start in the business/management world as a District Manager at Blockbuster in hollywood from 1999 to 2005. He then decided he wanted to open his own restaurant but without any hard experience in restaurants, he needed to work for great restaurant industry companies first. He then worked for Schlotzkys as a Franchise Business Consultant from 2005-2009 and as Director of Training from 2009-2013. Random Vegas 1992 is when Circus Circus opened their bungee jump experience with a 201 foot tower. Jumpers paid $100 to drop 171 feet almost into a swimming pool. The attraction closed in 2005 TwitPic of the week I don't know how they did it but I love it. This week's winner by @SCVegas is a photo of the W tower at Mandalay Bay while it was still known as Delano, the Luxor Pyramid, Excalibur Castle and NYNY, all in one photo. It's a stunner showcasing just how diverse the options are south strip. It's interesting that the people who originally experienced these themed properties when they were embracing the theme concept are the same people wishing Vegas properties would reembrace theming. Jason Carrier is the owner of Mama Betty's Tex Mex located in North Austin, TX. Jason began hospitality his career in his early 20s working as a door man for bars in Austin. He loved the job, treating the position like a gracious host instead of an intimidating bouncer, and eventually went on to open his first bar in 2002, and at least 11 bars at various times. Garrett Reed is the CEO of Layne's Chicken Fingers. Garrett got his start in the real estate business right out of college as a site selector for Radio Shack in he 90s. By the early 2000s he had moved on to Starbucks where he served as Real Estate Director for the east and west coasts. In 2005 he started his own real estate business and in the mid-2010s he began the search to own a restaurant brand and/or franchise. He bought Layne's Chicken Fingers in 2017 and became CEO and Partner. Layne's began in 1994. Zack and Silvana Walters are the Owners/Partners at Sedalia's Oysters & Seafood located in Oklahoma City. Zack and Silvana are married and met in 2017. Prior to 2017, Zack went to culinary school and eventually opened his own butcher shop/deli in LA in 2010 with a partner which was very successful. He left that venture in 2016 to work in another restaurant where he met Silvana who worked FOH there. Silvana lived in NYC and worked FOH in various restaurants before loving to LA to work in an art museum and work restaurants. Silvana worked under Will Guidara before she met Zack. Amir Mostafavi is the Founder and CEO of South Block. Amir went to school for graphic design and marketing and soon after graduating decided he wanted to open a juice bar instead. In 2004, he opened his first juice bar through a franchise. He later got out of that deal to open his own concept in one of the on-campus gyms at George Washing University.
