"Sent into the Storm"Mark 6:45-56Having recently completed our series “None Like Jesus” let's continue to “Behold Him” by embarking on a new study through the Gospel of Mark. Mark's Gospel is the shortest of the four Gospels and it is action-packed from start to finish – as evidenced by the word “immediately” used over 40 times. Mark wrote to believers, probably Roman believers, who were no strangers to persecution. And he wanted to disciple his readers to be strong in their faith by encouraging them to look to their Mighty Messiah, the Son of God, who remained steadfastly faithful even while becoming their Suffering Servant who died for them. Mark's Gospel is a call to all believers to fearlessly “Follow Jesus” because they can trust Him completely.
Show NotesSummary:Have you ever felt like the storm you're walking through is about to take you out? I've been there too. In this new Faith in the Storm series, I'm sharing what changed everything for me—the real reason the storm keeps taking us down… and the surprising place our breakthrough actually begins. If you're tired of being tossed around by life, this is your first step to peace in the middle of it.Takeaways:Faith is divine persuasion—it comes from Father, not force.Hearing the Word must go deeper than head knowledge.Outer storms reveal inner beliefs we've buried. The brain can't tell the difference between real danger and emotional drama.Anxiety spirals become hardwired without intentional disruption. We must take every thought captive (2 Cor 10:5).Inner authority gives you access to outer victory.Jesus modeled peace and power in the storm. We are seated in heavenly places—live from there. You already have authority. Fear just tries to make you forget it.Quotes:“Faith is listening until you're persuaded—by Father, not fear.”“Your outer storm is exposing the real one: the battle in your brain.”“You can't exercise authority externally if you don't walk in it internally.”“Jesus didn't panic. He stood in peace, spoke in power, and expected results.”Courageous Action:Identify your current outer storm.Journal the inner storm it's triggering.Ask Father for His promise. For 7 days, sit with one scripture promise:Write it out.Read aloud.Sit with it.Ask Holy Spirit what you're missing.Chapters:00:00 – Do You Spiral Too?02:14 – Why This Storm Hit Me Hard06:30 – Inner Loops and Losing the Battle12:00 – Jesus Calms the Storm (Mark 4)15:52 – Point 1: Faith Is Listening Until You're Persuaded20:34 – Point 2: Outer Storms Expose Inner Storms25:59 – Point 3: Inner Authority Comes Before Outer Victory34:52 – Courageous Action & Recap37:07 – 7-Day Faith-Building PracticeWho Am I?Heather Bunch – The Courageous CoachCertified life & Enneagram coach, speaker, author of Hello Courageous. This passage in Mark shows the disciples being stricken by fear over an impending storm, only to present Jesus as the calm, sovereign figure over their situation. This sermon analyzes how we handle the storms in our life, presenting how we should approach them knowing that the Lord will guide us through anything we face.
Struggles in life, or the storms of life, are fearful and difficult to endure. With Jesus in our boat, we can have faith that he will calm the storm or give us courage to face the wind and waves. What happened when Jesus stilled a raging storm in the lives of His followers? Well then, this is the show for you. My name is Rachael, and I am your host. I have been a Children's Pastor for a long time, and one of my favorite things is helping kids learn how to understand the Bible. I think that sometimes people think that the Bible is just for adults, but God actually really wants kids to know about Him. So, on this podcast, we are going to learn all about God's Big Story and how he shows Himself to us through the Bible. As we learn together what the stories in the Bible mean, we can learn how to live out our faith in our everyday lives.

Today's Bible Verse: "A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. Three big words of prayer; peanut allergies; a standing ovation for life: in the first of three sermons on the Stilling of the Storm (Mark 4:35-41), Zack discusses the importance of awe at Jesus' power (”Who is this?”) and the fact that Jesus allows us to go through storms that can change us. Talking to fifth graders; a chaplain's reflections: In the second of three sermons on the Stilling of the Storm (Mark 4:35-41), Zack argues that Jesus wants us to have a faith that is calm in the storm and trusts his outcomes and his timing—because God's love is greater than death. The disciples faced a crisis of faith when it appeared that they were going to die in a storm. Storms in this life are inevitable. It might not be wind and rain; it might be a broken relationship or a serious illness. Does God care when we are caught in a storm? He cared so much that Jesus left heaven to save us from the greatest storm: sin and death. Intro/Outro "Depth of Field" by David Hilowitz.
“Hard times will reveal true friends” describes loyalty so well it could be used as its definition. What does it mean for us to be loyal in the storms of life? What does it mean to ask God to do the same for us? Join us as we continue to explore another facet of loyalty in our lives.

Jesus isn't shaken by what shakes us. This doesn't mean He doesn't care. Oh, He certainly cares about us, but when storms come, His confidence and peace are totally secure. When Jesus asks, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” I think He is reminding the disciples, and us today, to follow His lead. Where is Jesus in the storm? What is Jesus' posture? Instead of fixing our eyes on the waves, we are invited to fix our eyes on Jesus… the one whose peace is more powerful than the storm. I'd love to connect with you on Instagram @carlycommunicates.
