The nickname so good we couldn't possibly give it away in the show title. Of-course you come to Superlicense for the hottest takes about the NOR/VER/FIA battle, but we're giving you so much more. You want insights into HAAS's resurgence? Done. Role-playing the highs and lows of Sonny Hayes and APX GP? Sure. We'll even check in on Megalopolis (spoiler: we still haven't seen it). AND some F1 talk, you're welcome.
In the hope of scoring some cultural exchange credits Rod gets to know Dan and Patrick from the Midfield Podcast, including their origin story, the status of Formula 1 in the US and of-course the ultimate verdict on who IS and ISN'T "Midfield".

Formula 1 is back on European soil this weekend as the travelling circus heads to Italy, and a return to Imola for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Round 7 of the World Championship, and a welcome comeback after the horrible flooding of 2023 that led to the race's cancellation. Joining Bryn Lucas on the Podcast is Alex Kalinauckas, and together they discuss the big speculation around Williams and the future of American driver Logan Saregant. Miami had rumblings that Williams were pursuing an exemption from the FIA to potentially have Mercedes junior Andrea Kimi Antonelli in the car despite jot turning 18 until August, against the factory team's wishes. Is the writing on the wall for Saregant? And with Max Verstappen disagreeing with the superlicense system entirely, saying it was brought in because of him, has it outlived its usefulness? The pair also discuss the changes made at Ferrari, with Loic Serra and Jerome D'Ambrosio confirmed to be joining the Maranello factory in October, with the latter taking up a new role as deputy team principal. What sort of role will they play in red, and should there be concern for Charles given his well documented frosty relationship with previous engineer Xavi Marcos? There's also a full preview of Imola this weekend, including the upgrade packages due for McLaren and Ferrari this weekend, whether Pirelli bringing softer rubber will make for more strategic options, and pondering if they'll be any chance of more passing given the complaints about the lack of it in Miami from McLaren's Andrea Stella and Aston Martin's Mike Krack. Will 2023 be another Verstappen landslide? Just how low is the cope at Mercedes? And how can the Ferrari boys follow-through on their fast starts?
Phil and Josh return for E145 of the GSP to discuss the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix which saw Max Verstappen win his 15th race of the 2022 Formula 1 season. The guys also go over the battle for second in the drivers and constructors championships plus other news leading into the post season test. NFL Talk comes up next with Josh's Jaguars and Phil's 49ers coming up plus their fantasy teams before the GSP Roundup covers F2 at Abu Dhabi and whether Logan Sargeant would earn enough points to get his Superlicense. Previews of Extreme E in Punta Del Este, WTCR in Jeddah and the South Carolina 400 which Junebug raced in at Bass Pro Shops throwback late model. Phil and Josh lead into Thanksgiving and the holiday season by discussing what they were thankful for in the 2022 motorsports season before Josh's Sim Segment and Show Close.
Let's be honest with each other here. We know what this is. This was the Sebastian Vettel retirement weekend, and we totally embrace that at the top of the show as we talk about the most emotional, pagentry-styled retirement the sport has ever given out, for one of its greatest drivers. Danke, Seb. Oh, and we got a Grand Prix too. Max Verstappen took a ridiculous 15th Grand Prix win of the season in dominant fashion over Charles Leclerc who held on from a last minute charge from Sergio Perez in the fight for 2nd in the Championship! We also discuss the completed 2023 grid as Mick Schumacher was confirmed to be given the boot at Haas for Nico Hulkenberg and Logan Sargeant survived the chaos of F2 to take his Superlicense and his seat at Williams! All that and more on the season finale of Motorsport101!
Remember Yuki Tsunoda? Superlicense remembers. Without wanting to beat up on anybody, we realise just how "low stocks" F1's drivers get beyond the midfield, and question an over-used storytelling device.
Lots of interesting F1 stories making the rounds this week as we enjoy a rare weekend off in the World Championship, Among the big stories this week is the demise of the Porsche/Red Bull partnership that finally fell apart after smoldering for several months over the course of the summer. Also, we discuss Colton Herta's attempt to get a F1 superlicense, the recently leaked provisional 2023 Formula 1 calendar and much more. Phil and Josh worked on Labor Day to provide E133 of the GSP to the fans and cover a busy motorsports weekend while leading into the start of NFL in 2022. The guys get into "That Jones Boy from Byron, MI" winning his second Southern 500 along with the 200th victory for the No.43 in Cup Series competition. In contrast, many of the playoff eligible drivers had issues including William Clyde Elliott II and Kevin Harvick along with the points leading into Kansas. In the XFinity race, Gragson gets his 4th victory of 2022 after last lap contact between Sheldon Creed and Kyle Larson. Even with the action between those three, AJ Allmendinger gets closer to a possible regular season title. Speaking of titles, the IndyCar Series ran at Portland with Scott McLaughlin winning his third race and pole of the 2022 season, holding off points leader and teammate Will Power. However, Power still holds a 20-point lead heading into the season finale at Laguna Seca over Scott Dixon and Josef Newgarden. Phil and Josh discuss all of the happenings and their thoughts on those still in and those who were eliminated. Formula 1 saw the usual with Max Verstappen winning the Dutch GP, but it was not as straightforward as it has been at most races, with Mercedes having pace and a possibility to win. Multiple yellows affected the strategy and led to the eventual result, leaving some like Lewis Hamilton pretty unhappy. Ferrari continues to show why they are closer to Mercedes than Red Bull with their strategy calls and constant errors - mostly focused to Carlos Sainz at Zandvoort. The biggest news was the notion of Colton Herta being the favorite for a seat at AlphaTauri, if he can get a Superlicense. Phil and Josh talk about his candidacy along with other silly season tidbits leading into Monza. The Roundup has Phil broaching the NHRA US Nationals, Extreme E in Chile, WEC at Fuji Speedway, WSBK at Magny Cours and Supercars at Pukekohe before Josh returns for the NFL season preview for both the Jacksonville Jaguars and San Francisco 49ers along with their picks for the Superbowl. Previews and Picks come for the F1 Italian Grand Prix, IndyCar at Laguna Seca, and the NASCAR triple-header at Kansas Speedway before Josh's Sim Segment and Show Close.

Never fear because the Superlicense lads are here to bridge the gap of the summer break with their typical Formula One banter and to help us lift the standards are The Grid Girls, Sasky and Sarah, to teach us a lot about other forms of motorsport and a little about ourselves.
It was upsetting, unpredictable and tense; the Monaco Grand Prix was divisive and we had a lot to say about it. Besides dissecting where it all went wrong for Red Bull and Daniel Ricciardo, we examine the Hamilton/Ricciardo incident, bemoan the numerous lousy overtaking attempts that went wrong and in a Superlicense first, Rod drops a meta quiz.
