Our Italian brother, Mauro Vecchi is back with a spectacular episode including a guest mix from Rome based veteran, Massimo Voci. Massimo Voci has been a DJ and producer for 30 years. He spent his life at Radio Capital (IT) where he produced various radio programs, including his saturday night show "Adventures in a Disco", the daily immersion in the great classics of funky/disco and soul have forged him for his sets and productions. He has his own label, Black Moka Recordings, and his name has appeared in the billboards of Italian and international clubs and festivals (Worldwide Festival by Gilles Peterson in FR / CH edition, Greece's Shapes, Umbria Jazz, Villa Medici, Cavo Fest), and in concerts by giants of music such as that of Genesis at the Circo Massimo, or with the Chic in piazza del popolo in Rome. He teaches at the Master in Radio at the Suor Orsola Benincasa University of Naples. Putting his hands spinning in different genres from disco to house passing through global beats, his sets have no limits! You can find him heating local and international clubs and festivals' dancefloors during the weekends. Born in front of the sea in Calabria, he grew up artistically in Rome, he can't stand still and when he is, he paints. Two hours of undiluted sunshine in audio form. WARNING: Addictive! The Braw and The Brave is a podcast about people and their passions. In Episode 56 I chat to DJ and Producer Rebecca Vasmant about her love for music, the dedication to her craft and the jazz community she has nurtured in her beloved Glasgow. Performing globally at events such as Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Festival in Switzerland and Sete, Glasgow Jazz Festival, Jazz Cafe London, Kasheme Zurich, La Bellevilloise Paris, Casper Montenegro and the Baltic Soul Weekender, Rebecca also produces her radio show on Worldwide FM, teaches workshops and is currently working on an album. “In an age increasingly dominated by machine-created sounds, DJ-Producer Rebecca Vasmant is bringing a fresh new twist to dance music with her love of jazz. Rebecca is a passionate record collector and her knowledge exceeds her time as a "digger". Enjoy! To be able to call Giles Peterson a fan is not a privilege shared by many. Howerver Indonesia's DJ Dea or Dea Barandana as he is known is one such artist who can add his name to the list. His unique blend of island disco, percussive dancefloor music, house and electronics makes him a particularly pleasant listen amidst the summer months. His sets are charismatic, energetic and engaging. In the coming months he is set to appear at Brilliant Corners, Love International, Ibiza and Worldwide Festival.

In the week of our annual Dekmantel Festival, Swiss's finest Sassy J starts of the week just how it should. Combining the old and the new, there’s just one common denominator to her eclectic style of music she’s playing: soulfulness. Her versatility and technical skills come together in this mix, like we also witnessed in her Boiler Room performance she did for us in Barcelona. Her taste of good music brought her to places like Worldwide Festival, London's Plastic People and let her release a mixtape on The Trilogy Tapes. Besides her own DJ career she invites the top of the notch to her own Patchwork parties in Bern (Theo Parrish, Steve Spacek, Rednose Distrikt, and MF DOOM to name a few). On top of that, she makes custom clothes like sweaters and shirts featuring Nina Simone, Larry Levan, and Sun Ra.
As part of Worldwide Festival 2015, Wednesday was Japan Night, showcasing the best of Japanese talent and culture. Part of the program involved beat-makers Yosi Horikawa and Daisuke Tanabe exploring Sete and the surrounding areas, collecting field recordings to use as the backbone of a specially produced track, shaped by the locality. The amazing outcome was ‘Song For Remy’ which the premiered at the Theatre De La Mer before their performances, and so the next day Gilles swung by the guys’ apartment, to hear more about the track and how they enjoyed their experience. Big announcement: we are moving back to the US. After three amazing years here in the UK, my job has ended and my visa will expire at the beginning of November, so we are packing it up all up and moving back. Probably not for good, we love it here in the UK and would like to stay here, but there simply hasn't been enough time to secure a new position that can sponsor a new visa in time.I fully intend to continue this podcast and look forward to evolving it as things unfold.Speaking of podcasts, be sure to head over to Krister's Running The Narrow Path podcast to check out his latest episode in which we run together in London for the Worldwide Festival of Races half marathon.Krister and his family came to visit and we had a great weekend together exploring London.So... that's the big news. It's been kinda crazy and there's so much to do in terms of packing, paperwork, etc, but I plan on getting at least one more episode out from England before we head back. Thanks to everyone for your support and correspondence, it is always very much appreciated.Music from the Podsafe Music NetworkIntro/Outro:"You Start It" by The MonikersFeatured Songs:"Welcome In Your Home" by Doug McleodDownload Episode 51
