Few tracks capture the timeless groove of The Brand New Heavies quite like You Are the Universe. Released in 1997 as part of the band's platinum-certified album Shelter, the song's uplifting lyrics and irresistible funk-soul groove have made it a fan favourite across the globe, cementing the band's place as pioneers of acid jazz. Andrew Levy, who's been The Brand New Heavies' bassist since the group formed in the late ‘80s, reflects on the group's enduring appeal, why they never go out of style, touring almost 40 years on, and reveals new music plans.
Despite it being Election Day, the focus was all about the music, with 99.9% jazz, both new and old. Included in the mix: Makaya McCraven, Billy Cobham, Zeitgeber, Steve Dyer, Kamasi Washington, Brian Jackson and Shunzo Ohno, just to name a few!Playlist: https://kxsf.fm/schedule/Click on Tuesday's 10-noon slot> FreeFall w/David Bassin This program has been edited from the original broadcast.

Альбом 1979 года Light as a Feather, ставший их прорывом в США, принес группе джаз-диско-хит Jazz Carnival.

It's been a while since the last episode, but to make up for it, it's a bit longer than usual?
