Безумная самба - так, вначале называли сами себя ребята играющие смесь электроджаза, бразильской поп-музыки, самбы и тропического диско.Шорт-лист истории: Начиная с одноимённого альбома 1975 года, их грувы, заразительные ритмы и замысловатые мелодии в сочетании с технологиями завоевали любовь слушателей и любителей клубов по всему миру. Альбом 1979 года Light as a Feather, ставший их прорывом в США, принес группе джаз-диско-хит Jazz Carnival. От #smoothjazz до бибопа, от танцевальной самбы до медленных баллад, их тонкие, замысловатые инструментальные композиции, иногда сопровождаемые дополнительным вокалом без слов, также безупречно продуманы и технично исполняются. А еще любители эмбиента найдут здесь для себя интересные треки для видео и кино.Название альбома Марка Пассо с португальского можно перевести как Задающий ритм или Держащий ритм. И, учитывая потерю двух основателей, фраза «Я не могу продолжать, но я продолжу» - идеально подходит к самому короткому описанию этой записи.Продюсером альбома выступил студийный вдохновитель Дэниел Мауник, ответственный за два предыдущих альбома (Fênix 2016 и Aurora 2011). Azymuth также пригласили отца Дэниела, короля британского джаз-фанка Жана Поля Bluey Мауника из Incognito, сыграть на гитаре в новой версии их классики восьмидесятых Last Summer In Rio, отдав дань уважения композитору этой песни Жозе Роберто Бертрами. Rafael Moreira, is a Brazilian-American guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, producer. He was the lead guitarists and vocalist on the CBS hit show Rock Star, and was also the lead guitarist on NBC's The Voice.He has toured with Pink, Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony and Paul Stanley and others. His band Magnetico was just nominated for best Rock Song at the recent Hollywood Independent Music Awards. The track "What's Left of US" was Produced and co-written by Rafael and Mith Niles. Whether playing with his Acid Jazz band at LA's famed Bake Potato, or performing with his Rock trio Magnetico, he is a charismatic force on both guitar and vocals.

Kicking off this week's ElecSoul with a classic from Galliano, one of the standout acts from the Acid Jazz era on Gilles Peterson's Talkin' Loud label. I'd been chatting on IG about the scene back in the day, and it reminded me how Galliano carved out a sound that went way beyond the standard Acid Jazz blueprint. From there, I'm keeping close to that early crossover energy into the world of trip hop, breaks and dusty beats, with flavours that nod to Rae & Christian and Unkle. James Lavelle's MoWax label was huge at the time, collaborating with artists like Portishead and pushing boundaries across sound and style. You get the idea. This week's selection leans into a bit of nostalgia, but not without moving forward. There's even a cut from Felix Da Housecat tucked in before we shift gears into house, garage and some late-night footwork. Hope you enjoy the ride, 49 minutes of memory, motion and movement.
