*From the Desk of Pete* If you know anything about director Takashi Miike's filmography then you'll be well prepared for the insanity, head scratching confusion and WTFs of Yakuza Apocalypse. This is such a Pete movie that his picture should be in the IMDB entry. If you decide to watch it, free on Tubi by the way, please go into it with the understanding that the film isn't to be understood but rather experienced or maybe even endured....hence Month of Chaos!!!!!!!
Prepare for the craziness of Kitamura and the madness of Miike as we bring J-horror genre mash-ups to the drive-in with VERSUS (2000) and YAKUZA APOCALYPSE (2015). VERSUS: Non-spoiler - 7:13:20 Spoilers - 17:57:10 YAKUZA APOCALYPSE: Non-spoiler - 26:24:20 Spoilers - 34:17:50

On this episode, I'm discussing Yakuza Apocalypse. A martial arts, horror, comedy, fantasy extravaganza film that only Takashi Miike could make. So many things in this film from Yakuza vampires, people with melting brains and a pretty bad ass costumed frog with some Bruce Lee vibes. It's wild, wacky and hilariously fun. It's a short and spoiler free episode I think you'll enjoy. Also I forgot to mention you can view this one on Tubi and Pluto TV if you are intrigued and interested in checking it out. For this episode, the song is Yakuza by A Samurai in Tokyo.

This week we're talking about one of the most hard to describe movies we've ever watched. Luckily our buddy Peter Davenport came on to help us unpack this one and we had a ton of fun. We make an attempt at a synopsis, we played a new game called "Fantastic Beasts & WTF is that" we do our rate and review, and work through a good amount of confusion. make sure to follow Perter @CasualThursday If you're enjoying the show we would love your support. La Fin Du Monde (1931) / Yakuza Apocalypse (2015) This week it's the end of the world as we discuss the excessive and apocalyptic visions of Abel Gance and Takashi Miike
Erin and Paul review two very different takes on the world of Japanese organized crime: Sydney Pollack's 1974 East-meets-West drama THE YAKUZA, and Takashi Miike's characteristically bonkers 2015 horror/fantasy YAKUZA APOCALYPSE. Plus: our quick takes on THE WOLF OF SNOW HOLLOW, ARMY OF THE DEAD, WRATH OF MAN, and OXYGEN.
This was directed by Takashi Miike who also directed Yakuza Apocalypse and Audition. This movie sure isn't either of those.
Don't cover a Hong Kong movie they said. Don't do a horror comedy they said. Find a strict martial arts horror movie they said. Well it's three movies for the price of one.
Endlich reden wir mal über Takeshi Miike. Japans Pulpking! Yakuza Apocalypse passt dabei wunderbar ins Spandex Schema. Aber ist das was gutes? Eine Diskussion wirr wie der Film --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/reclaimedMarshland/message

This week, the baddest bitches in anime are back with help from JJBA superfan, Cidnya, from CidnyaReads. In this episode, the trio dive into the live action adaptation of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4 from VIZ Media and directed by Takashi Miike. In JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable Chapter I a teen gifted with supernatural powers, Josuke Higashikata (Kento Yamazaki) discovers evil lurking within his town and mysteries within his bloodline. He learns about the world of stands, his power, and the motives of the evil claiming lives across the town. With insane visuals and even wilder fashion this adaptation is right up Miike's alley. We've now covered four of his films, Blade of the Immortal, Ace Attorney, Yakuza Apocalypse, and now, Jojo. While we critique and talk about the film itself, we also go in deep on the manga's inspirations, how to watch the long series, and into which boys are best boys in the Jojo world. And don't worry, there's also a lot of our signature thirst.
Hey everyone! Welcome to a total out of nowhere theme month, where we are diving into some films of Takashi Miike. This week we dive into his 2015 film, Yakuza Apocalypse. Listen in as we discuss pennies-per-minute, stairs, and dekotora. Thanks!
This week we start a new side-show: Should Have Been an Anime! Here, we watch movies that from the movie poster and description look like they should have been an anime but were just movies instead. We kick it off with Yakuza Apocalypse from 2015, directed by legend Takashi Miike.
After finally tackling a 1950s film, we race back to the twenty first century for 2016’s hidden gem “A Dark Song”. A magnificent film in which we learn the right consistency for drinking fresh blood and the hazards of not putting away after washing up. Along the way we discuss “Kohraa”, “Westworld”, “Yakuza Apocalypse”, “Skeletons In The Closet”, “Hereditary”, “Aaaaaaaah!” and Adam overshares about his stool sample. Watch (or re-watch) to avoid spoilers, and join us. Seriously, this film is so worth checking out, make the time, enjoy, then listen in.
Episode 42 – Fourth of July Special – Yakuza Apocalypse Commentary Track WARNING: This is not a normal podcast episode. This is a running commentary for the 2015 film Yakuza Apocalypse. Additional content warning: Yakuza Apocalypse is an incredibly dumb, fun, silly movie, but unfortunately it has a pretty brutal rape scene early on, so just be aware if you're watching the film for the first time. Hank invites Ben on a journey to watch one of his favorite films. Armed only with the knowledge that this is a movie about Yakuza Vampires, Ben goes in blind and unprepared for what happens here. This movie is pretty wild and incredibly stupid. Correction: When listing other movies that Takashi Miike, the director of Yakuza Apocalypse, has directed Hank accidentally said the title Lady Vengeance, which is a Park Chan-wook film. This was a brain fart and the movie Hank meant to mention was Audition. Email: SaltCirclePodcast@gmail.com Twitter: @SaltCirclePod Hank's Twitter: @ComicPane
Christian, Scott, Mike and Nathan talk about Takashi Miike's horror organized crime satire.
Al and Brantley make fun of movies they haven't seen based on their odd descriptions. This week they take a very limited look at the extensive filmography of Takashi Miike (we apologize for the pronunciation errors), including Yakuza Apocalypse, Zebraman, and Crows Zero.
For the second part of our interview, director/writer/critic/translator/photographer Norman England tells us all about the art of subtitling, working with Takashi Miike on the film Yakuza Apocalypse, his time working with Sushi Typhoon, being an American film critic in Japan, Japan's treatment of foreigners, the Japanese film industry, why he isn't currently directing another film, and the amount of effort that goes into making a movie. We also touch on Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, and the time Norman found a rare Son of Godzilla poster tacked to a wall in the middle of nowhere!

Dylan moderates Chris as he discusses the films he saw at this year's 40th Toronto International Film Festival, and Chris's first ever time there. We discuss a lot of movies, you can find what ones and when in the podcast down in the show notes. Just a side note though that we recorded a podcast for The Martian where we also discussed The Walk and Sicario but that may have been lost to the void, and since we're pretty busy people right now, that's not gonna be re-recorded. However, Chris wrote a review for The Walk so you can read that if you'd like. Next week we will be doing something, we're not sure what yet as we both definitely do not want to see Pan.
