Hello and welcome listeners to Episode 224 of Journey with a Cinephile: A Horror Movie Podcast. In this episode, your tour guide, David Garrett Jr., moves into February with Black Appreciation - Episode #10. The first feature is the 2024 release of Skeletons in the Closet, which is found on Shudder. I'm pairing this with Street Tales of Terror (2004). This is an anthology found on Tubi. Both work well for this double feature with having elements of the supernatural as well as people of color in important roles, both behind and in front of the camera. Also on this episode are Mini-Reviews of I Saw the Devil (2010), Lady in the Cage (1964), Silence of the Prey (2024), 30 Days of Night (2007) and The New Daughter (2009). I hope you enjoy coming on this journey with me! Episode 189 of That Was Disappointing is Live. You'd think we work in the current administration. Or the prior administration… or the administration before them…Today's Topic: Scandals and Skeletons in the Closet. To be fair, is there anyone who hasn't attended a donkey show in Tijuana?Join Art, Lex and Producer Kenny, as they chat less about the stories that rocked the British monarchy, Hollywood, etc., and more about their own insecurities. As an example, did you know Lex was a thespian back in college! Say no more, amirite? To be fair, Art was too… when he wasn't bombing out of school. Fortunately, they have this great podcast to show for it. At least until their tryst with the Ghost, Meghann Ryan and the jar with Marshmallow Fluff comes to light. #ohsostickyTWD Tip of the Week: Bob Ross' landscapes may/may not have been clues as to where the victims were buried.
Are you facing tough choices in life? Join us for this season of Perspectives FUMCSD Pastors Podcast as we dive into the Journey of the Hard Stuff. The women clergy of First Church in San Diego unpack the story of Moses from Exodus and tie it back to the challenges faced through history and modern life. In this episode, join Rev. Trudy and Rev. Brittany as they examine Exodus Chapter 2: 11-15, exposing the skeletons that Moses had in his closet — and yet, God still chose him to do extraordinary things. This story, and others throughout the Bible, reveal that God doesn’t necessarily care about our past. But as humans, we’re quick to point out other peoples’ weaknesses and consider them lesser than. Hear what Rev. Trudy and Rev. Brittany have to say about God’s grace, our forgiveness of others, and more. Want to join the discussion? We invite you to our weekly discussion group, Convergence. Taking place on our church campus in the Mission Valley neighborhood of San Diego or through Zoom. Get additional details online: In Person Online For this episode, we’ll be discussing the following questions: Do we believe, and do we act like, God can save everybody? What is it that would put someone outside of God’s reach? Can we be redeemed without repentance (can we be forgiven without acknowledging that we need forgiveness)?

"If you resist leaning into the discomfort of whatever you're feeling when someone shares something that you don't agree with, don't have a lot of experience with, don't know much about and so on….. ask yourself am I in emotional childhood or adulthood? Without this awareness we will not truly be able minister to one another. A person in need who is sharing their heart does not need to pay the price of your discomfort; and that 'price' can be high." -Meagan Skidmore, Episode #78 Halloween Scaries: Cleaning the skeletons out of the closet. On this episode of the Sofa King Podcast, we talk about the Order of Odd Fellows. This fraternity slash secret society included Charlie Chaplin, Wyatt Earp, Ulysses S Grant, Charles Lindberg, and Franklin D Roosevelt. It was once larger than the Masons. Their goal was to expand friendship, love, and truth to all of humanities. They even acted as a form of insurance for each other before such a concept actually existed, but they had a funny way of doing things. For instance, starting in the 2000s, people all across America discovered dozens of skeletons hidden in abandoned Odd Fellow Lodges, and it turned out that this was a group that protected itself with odd rituals and cryptic codes. In this sample from the CAFE Insider podcast, Preet Bharara and Joyce Vance break down former President Donald Trump's court filing challenging the FBI's Mar-a-Lago search. Why does Trump take different positions in court than he does in public? And do Trump's legal arguments in the motion hold water or are they tailored for politics and public opinion? In the full episode, Preet and Joyce discuss: – The strength of Trump's challenges to the search warrant on Fourth Amendment grounds; – The likelihood that the court grants Trump's request to appoint a special master to review the documents seized from Mar-a-Lago; – The debate over whether the judge should unseal a redacted version of the search warrant affidavit over DOJ's opposition; and – Senator Lindsey Graham's challenge of a subpoena to testify before a Georgia grand jury that is investigating alleged interference in the 2020 election. Emily sits down with her mom, Mary, and they talk about what life was like for Mary growing up in a small town where everyone knew everyone. We talk about her family life and some skeletons in the closet that she found out about as she grew older. Emily and Mary believe that a lot of anger and violence was more prominent "back in the day" due to a lack in mental health resources. This episode talks about how it was so much easier to sweep things under the rug back then vs now where everything is in the limelight. Hopefully you enjoy this conversation between Emily and her mom!Resources:Follow--->Vocal Vault Podcast: https://www.instagram.com/vocalvaultpodcast/Mary Johnson (Guest): https://www.instagram.com/mkastelicjohnson/Sather Audio: https://www.instagram.com/satheraudio/Olivia Garner Designs: https://www.instagram.com/oliviagarnerdesign/
When you're a dealmaker, there's always a risk that you'll find yourself stuck in a complicated arbitration if things go awry. Regulatory issues can sneak up on you, so watch out! On this Halloween episode of Deal Us In, McGuireWoods partners and litigation specialists Jodie Lawson and Susan Rodriguez are here to guide you through the haunted maze that is dealing with business disputes. Jodie and Susan both advise digging into the specifics of your situation before deciding whether to handle it via arbitration or litigation. They say that a lot of clients think arbitration will be the easiest and cheapest way to solve a dispute, but that's not necessarily the case. Don't think you're getting a treat and stumble into a trick! Jodie and Susan also discuss the nightmares that Form I-9s can give you. If a company you're working with doesn't have a workforce that is fully authorized to work in the United States — or it hasn't made sure its employees filled out their Form I-9s correctly — you might be in for a long, conflict-filled road ahead. “It can be a real deal-killer: We've actually seen Form I-9 issues kill a deal,” Susan says. Tune into this spooky special to find out what skeletons may lurk in the arbitration closet, so you can be a better and safer dealmaker. With the right kind of legal support, you can unmask those legal monsters, and see that they aren't so scary after all.
