La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
Delivered by Father Peter Tukan, SDB from Salesian Don Bosco Gerak in the Diocese of Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. Jeremiah 26: 11-16.24; Rs psalm 69: 15-16.30-31.33-34; Matthew 14: 1-12 INNOCENT BLOOD Our meditation today has the theme: Innocent Blood. Innocent death is another expression for innocent blood. There are many examples. For example, a missionary in a mission area was persecuted and killed while carrying out his service to God's people in that area. An eyewitness who revealed the truth about a crime, and as a result he was killed for telling the truth. We have a perfect model, namely our Lord Jesus Christ. He was completely innocent, but He was willing to be put to death to bear the sins of all mankind. In the scriptures there are so many lists of people who were killed or persecuted on the basis of the truth they defended. The first person was Abel who was killed by his own brother Cain. The prophet Jeremiah who is told in today's first reading, was on the verge of being executed by his fellow countrymen. And today's Gospel tells us of the brutal murder of John the Baptist by the ruler Herod. They all shed their blood because of the truth and goodness that comes from the all-true God. They did not testify about themselves and convey to the public about their own truth. If this is what they do, they are not worthy of being considered righteous and cannot make changes in the world. Their influence and power are only temporary. The world will soon forget them. However, because their blood is the blood of innocent people, they make the whole world amazed and silent because the act is very relevant and also a mystery. Public admiration usually culminates in statements like this: "This is extraordinary, something that only God can do." In short, the testimony of the righteous is a message from God that never becomes old or fades with the passing of time. The blood of the righteous becomes a ray of light that defeats all the darkness of the world. Perhaps one simple question should be raised here, namely what are the characteristics of people who die for the truth? One definite answer is that they are not afraid of death. They even welcome death with joy because the truth they witness is a guarantee for their victory. If death really befalls them, it is considered a victory and not a defeat or failure. Death is part of the process of upholding the truth and creating a renewal for a better life. In the view of the Catholic Church, the blood of innocent people is generally called martyrdom. They are also saints with extraordinary heroic characteristics and a purity of life that shines like the sun. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O Lord, we pray to You and ask that the testimony of our lives is truly sincere and comes from Your grace and glory. Hail Mary full of grace... In the name of the Father...

In our Torah Reading discussion for this week, we find ourselves having to contemplate and determine the integrity of our covenant relationship with Yehovah. As well as we are moved to make a choice between being loyal to this world and the things of this world, versus being loyal to God and His ways. This is the 141st reading of our 3-year Torah Reading cycle.

On this week's episode I am sharing my abortion testimony. This episode was recorded live on facebook but it was to powerful not to upload on the podcast. Many women and men don't know the spiritual implications that abortions have on a persons life. The bible says my people perish for lack of knowledge. By listening to my testimony you will be delivered, healed and set free. You may want to grab a notepad and pen to take notes because this isn't the normal podcast that I upload. Enjoy! See ya next week!!!2

Just in time for Halloween, we reconnected with director and film aficionado John Landis for a wide-ranging, clearly spontaneous conversation about horror films past and present. John's Halloween bona fides: he directed An American Werewolf in London, the underappreciated Innocent Blood, and Michael Jackson's Thriller, about which Jessie was particularly curious. Leonard is always impressed with John's vast knowledge of film history, especially in the horror/sci-fi/fantasy genres. Jessie's nearly two-year-old daughter Daisy make a cameo appearance near the end of this episode.

If you were not aware, Canada is one of the few countries in the world with no laws around abortion. That means that a baby's life can be taken at any stage up until complete birth, even at 38 weeks. This is exactly what happened at a Montreal hospital in early February of 2023. In this podcast, Bonnie and Bryan discuss the heartbreaking realities of abortion and its effects on the nations of the earth. We cover topics of: - Human beings are created in the image of God - Objective vs subjective moral reasoning & a two-tiered worldview - Abortions connection to sexual immorality - The Biblical history of human sacrifice in false god worship practices - Innocent bloodshed & demonic empowerment - A gospel response to the injustice of abortion.

Television viewers may know him best for his seven-year run as the star of Without a Trace (or his Emmy-winning appearances on Frasier) but Anthony La Paglia has had a long and varied career on stage and film. Early credits include 29th Street, Innocent Blood, Betsy's Wedding, Jessie's favorite Empire Records and Spike Lee's Summer of Sam. Now he's starring in Nitram, a drama about one of the most shocking incidents in Australian history. It's playing on AMC and AMC+ and available in selected theaters and VOD. Anthony is a bright and thoughtful man with a good sense of self: he admits that he had to improve his Australian accent when he went back to film in his home country!
