Greeting's heathens and witches, Welcome to Pub Chat! These episodes are for us to have a more free-form way to discuss listener questions, shorter subjects, as well as magical happenings, musings, and of course, go off on tangents. In this week's Pub Chat we decided to analyze the Abramelin Ritual as it's presented in the 2016 horror movie, A Dark Song. Not unlike Magic in Media, this review and discussion will go into what the movie presents with regard to its plot and the ritual and compare that to the history and magical structures that we know and understand. So, grab yourself something to drink and join us for a spooky season themed discussion… Ohh, and fear not, there is much vamping and many side quests! Also, yes there was some sort of card error in my camera which corrupted the video files, so no video for most of this one. Sorry about that but you still get to listen to us at least! lol ===== Social Links =====Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/NerdJiveWebsite: https://www.nerdjive.com/Etsy Shop: https://norgroveenterprises.etsy.comOther Channels: https://www.nerdjive.com/links Jon's Social:TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@NerdJiveInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/NerdJiveTwitter: https://twitter.com/NerdJiveFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/NerdJive Julie's Social:TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@goddessjulessInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/goddessjules/Twitter: https://twitter.com/goddessjuless

The boys are live and reviewing some old, some new, and then some other movie. For something old, not to be confused with Robert Downey Jr.'s star turning vehicle, 1989's Tetsuo The Iron Man gives those early David Lynch vibes with a dash of metal fetishry. The new is 2023's From Black, a film that is just daring the creative team behind A Dark Song to sue them for copyright infringement. Lastly the other, 2018's Incident in a Ghost Land, retells that classic Lovecraft story trope of following a trail of pee to solve a mystery… it's not worth a critical reexamination.
This week Josh and Dru discuss 2019's Saint Maud. From Wiki: "Saint Maud is a 2019 British psychological horror film written and directed by Rose Glass in her feature directorial debut. The story follows hospice nurse Maud (portrayed by Morfydd Clark), a recent convert to Roman Catholicism, who becomes obsessed with a former dancer in her care (Jennifer Ehle), believing she must save her soul by any means necessary."Also! Josh watched two films of 1981's Dragonslayer starring Peter MacNicol and 1981's Inseminoid, an Alien rape. Drusilla watched Singapore Sling aka The Man Who Loved a Corpse by director Nikos Nikolaidis. They also discuss A24, Ghostbusters 2, Veep, Sophie's Choice, Spider Baby, Nekromantik, House of Psychotic Women, Pink Flamingos, The Wild Boys, After Blue, Evil Dead Rise, Barbarian, Jeanne Dielman, Enys Men, Take Shelter, A Dark Song, Benedetta, Joan Didion, Mamie Gummer, NEXT WEEK: Mother's Day episode! VYS0011 - Show Notes In the second part of this two part interview with legendary Occultist and UFOlogist Dr Allen H Greenfield, Hine and Buckley go deep asking questions about: the Black Lodge, the Babalon Working, Hellier and the collapse of Western Civilisation. Allen also recounts unnerving tales of the UFOlogists who died too young and the dangers of research in the field... so, don't try this at home... Recorded 13 November 2022 As mentioned in the pre-amble to this episode, after the technical difficulties we experienced during the recording of this interview we have completely overhauled our recording software which we were able to do because of listeners buying the Vayse soundtrack by Polypores. 100% of the proceeds from the album are put back into the podcast. Hello and thank you once again for joining us down at the crossroads for some music, magick, and Paganism. Where witches gather for the sabbath, offerings are made, pacts are signed for musical fame and we usually cross paths with today's most influential Pagans, occultists, and deep thinkers, but tonight that's not happening because it's film club time. I am your bewitching, bald headed, host Chris Orapello and tonight, Tara and I are joined by a friend as we watch Liam Gavin's 2016 film A Dark Song. So make some popcorn. Secure your copy, sit down, and get comfortable as we delve into the realms of ritual magick and see what happens when you try and teach an old grimoire new tricks. Are you curious? We certainly hope so. Please be aware that this episode does contain spoilers, but we are happy to bring this conversation to you and hope that you participate with us in our viewing of the film.
