For Episode 42, Norm Nathan’s Vault of Silliness brings you a mish-mash of cuts. Many featuring Jack Harte’s traffic reports. They are entertaining, but it’s his commercial reads that provide the highlights. The date on the tape is June 17th, 1995. But there are definitely different dates sprinkled throughout. As I said waaaaaay back in Episode 1 and what is listed here in the show’s description, “They will air as recorded, with the warmth an old, analog tape recording provides. Some with good ol’fashioned home editing of the play/pause button.” And that’s exactly what we have here! There is some pre DBG banter (but no game) where Norm talks about the DBG and WBZ Halls of Fame. And don’t forget to visit the gift shop! We hear a rebroadcast of the ‘Toilet Dedication” A Johnny Cash Folgers Commercial! And then there’s an interview with lounge singer Bud E. Love. Bud E. Love had a very funny book out back then titled: “You Ought to be Me: How to be a Lounge Singer and Live like One.” At the time there were all these rules about playing music. The station no longer had a contract with ASCAP/BMI or some-such and we couldn’t play more than 30 seconds without being charged. Parodies and background music were probably exempt but management was afraid to even tread close to that groove. Though there’s some choppy editing we do hear a few tunes and some great back and forth between Norm and the band. We close with a something a little different. Included on this tape were some recordings of a station in Worcester MA: WSRS. Matt Phipps, who also did traffic reports for WBZ among many other accomplishments in his career, was a part of their morning show. It was Christmas time and they had been talking about their favorite songs. Matt mentions the Drifters’ doo-wop version of White Christmas. The request is made for a doo-wop traffic report. That request is granted, and you will find it here!

I God’s final work is not just to punish man, but to arrange man’s destination, and to achieve everyone’s recognition of all that God has done for them. God wants every single person to see that everything He’s done is correct, that all that He has done is an expression of His disposition. Without God, mankind can only perish and only be plagued by calamity; no one will see the green world again, nor the beauty of the sun and the moon. Without God, man will cease moving forward; without God, man can only suffer and be trod upon by all manner of ghosts, even though none take heed of Him. II Mankind shall only face the frigid night and the inexorable valley of the shadow of death. God is man’s only salvation, hope, and the one on whom the existence of all mankind rests. It is certainly not the doing of man, nor did nature create human beings. Rather, it is God who nourishes every living soul among all things. Without God, mankind can only perish and only be plagued by calamity; no one will see the green world again, nor the beauty of the sun and the moon. Without God, man will cease moving forward; without God, man can only suffer and be trod upon by all manner of ghosts, even though none take heed of Him. III The work that has been done by God cannot be replaced by anyone. All He hopes is that man can repay Him through deeds that are good, that are good. The work that has been done by God cannot be replaced by anyone. All He hopes is that man can repay Him through deeds that are good, that are good. Without God, man will cease moving forward; without God, man can only suffer and be trod upon by all manner of ghosts, even though none take heed of Him. Without God, man will cease moving forward; without God, man can only suffer and be trod upon by all manner of ghosts, even though none take heed of Him. from “You Ought to Do Enough Good Deeds to Prepare for Your Destination” in The Word Appears in the Flesh Recommendation: A Cappella "Praise the Accomplishment of God’s Work" (Music Video)

I God’s words are the truth, forever unchanging. God is the supplier of life, and man’s only guide. The worth and meaning of His words are determined by their substance, not if man accepts or recognizes them. Even if no man on earth receives His words, their value and help to man are measureless. God’s words are the truth, forever unchanging. God is the supplier of life, and man’s only guide. II To those who rebel, refute and disrespect His words, God’s only response to them is this: Let time and facts be His witness, show His words are the truth, the way and life; show that all that He has said is right, is what man should possess and abide by. God’s words are the truth, forever unchanging. God is the supplier of life, and man’s only guide. III To all those who follow Him God will let them in on this fact: Those who cannot accept His words or carry them out through their acts, and those who cannot discover a purpose or fail to find salvation in His words, all of these are people God’s words have condemned. They have lost God’s salvation. From them, His punishment will never stray far. God’s words are the truth, forever unchanging. God is the supplier of life, and man’s only guide. God’s words are the truth, forever unchanging, God is the supplier of life, and man’s only guide. from “You Ought to Consider Your Deeds” in The Word Appears in the Flesh Recommendation: Praise and Worship "God’s True Love"
