In part one of Red Eye Radio with Gary McNamara and Eric Harley, the discussion begins with the insanity of the left and how intended parody actually reflects more of reality. Also taxes on social security, gas prices are slightly higher, the 10 year treasury bill is up, the Presdient arrives is Saudi Arabia for his tour of the region and Ron Johnson's OpEd piece on the Big Beautiful Bill. Also an update on Gary's father, and Chip Roy's projected response on the Medicaid bill. This week on Bad at Sports, Duncan MacKenzie and Ryan Peter Miller cruise their way into a murder mansion fever dream with Jake Nickell and Lance Curran, two of the minds behind Threadless—the Chicago-based t-shirt empire that helped invent crowdsourced artwear before we'd marketed terms like “creator economy” or “drop ship.” What begins as a nostalgia trip (setting the stage for how the business developed through DIY screenprinting and forum culture) quickly becomes a deep dive into ethics, art careers, AI disruption, licensing chaos, and why having your work sold in Hot Topic definitely still counts as making it. We unpack: The founding of Threadless on a secret art/code forum Shifting from screen printing to digital on-demand Working with artists, bands, and comic book creators Parody vs. IP theft (and WTF the DMCA is) Building safety and anti-hate moderation into a global platform Why Chicago still rules And why Punch Nazis continues to be a top seller Along the way, we also discuss vending machines, Karl Marx, Cheetos, the Four Seasons Total Landscaping press conference, and what happens when art school turns into a startup. And, importantly, how capitalism can be leveraged using Foucauldian power for artists—rather than for their subjugation. Jake Nickell is the founder of Threadless, and a pioneer in crowdsourced design and artist-first merchandise models. He started Threadless in 2000 while still in art school. Lance Curran is the VIP Accounts Director at Threadless, a longtime champion of artist partnerships, muralist collaborations, and weird comic book projects. He joined the company in 2005 and once described the warehouse as “the Foot Clan layer from Ninja Turtles.” Names Dropped: Jake Nickell Lance Curran Threadless Tony Moore The Walking Dead Hot Topic Hope for the Day The Trevor Project Redbox Columbia College Chicago Four Seasons Total Landscaping Nathan Fielder Disney Warner Bros. We're howling with laughter—and maybe a little awe—as we dive into the wonderfully weird world of Wolves of Glendale. In just a few years, this comedy rock trio - Ethan Edenberg, Eric Jackowitz and Tom McGovern - has gone from internet cult favorites to sharing stages with the likes of David Cross, Tenacious D, and even performing at the Netflix is a Joke Festival. Their music is sharp, silly, and sonically on point—and if you ask Jack Black, “they sound f****ng fantastic.”*KFI's Heather Brooker spoke with two of the wolves themselves—Eric and Tom —to talk about their creative process, musical influences, and the fine art of turning daily chaos into bangers you can laugh and rock out to. Their debut album, produced by Grammy-winners John Spiker and Rian Lewis, is out now and streaming everywhere.

"First you need to know there are no swear words in this show. It was this week back in the 60s when the FBI released a letter stating that there were no curse words in the song Louie Louie. But people keep looking. This is a list of songs that were banned or otherwise maligned because someone was sure the singer was cursing. But there was no curse word. It is a long list."

Emilie Diouf of Brandeis English, whose monograph on genocide and trauma is forthcoming, joins John to speak with the celebrated French journalist and activist Rokahya Diallo. Diouf places Diallo within a transnational black intellectual tradition, founded in the interwar period in the Negritude movement; it was then that Paulette, Jeanne, and Anne Nardal's literary salon became a meeting ground for African, Antillean, and African-American intellectuals, in the Parisian suburb of Clamart. The three discuss the slowly changing racial climate in France and globally; how to counter ethnonationalism; as well as the currents of dissent or disdain that threaten to disrupt even leftwing political solidarity. Mentioned in the Episode Diallo has directed 8 documentaries among which her 2013 award winning film, Les Marches de la Liberté (Steps to Freedom) .
