As you'll hear, it's an extremely powerful and inspirational look at one of the many runners who are shining their light under the national running radar. Lindsey Hein and Peter Bromka sit down with JaQuavious Harris for one of their first post-race interviews from the California International Marathon. Jaquavious ran more than two minutes under the Olympic Trials standard, setting a massive marathon personal best and delivering one of the most energetic finish-line interviews of the weekend. In this conversation, he shares his journey to the marathon, his training under coach Ed Eyestone, and how faith, family, and community have shaped his path as a professional runner. Why is it so hard to explain what you do, even when you're really good at it? In this episode, messaging strategist Damian Vallelonga breaks down why solopreneurs struggle with clarity, confidence, and consistency in their messaging, and what to do about it.We talk about why referrals aren't a strategy, how vague language quietly kills opportunities, and the exact framework Damian uses to help solopreneurs create elevator pitches, website headlines, and LinkedIn bios that actually make sense to other humans. If you've ever said, “I know what I do, I just don't know how to explain it,” this episode is for you.Episode FAQsWhy do solopreneurs struggle to clearly explain what they do?Solopreneurs struggle to explain what they do because they know too much. Years of experience, details, and expertise live in their heads, making it hard to simplify their message for someone hearing it for the first time. Clear messaging requires stepping outside your own perspective and focusing on what your audience needs to understand, not everything you know. What is the simplest framework for creating an effective elevator pitch? An effective elevator pitch has three parts:The common problem your ideal client is struggling withWhat you do to help solve that problemThe outcome or transformation they experience as a resultThis structure keeps your message focused, relatable, and easy to remember, without turning it into a list of credentials or services. How often should solopreneurs update their messaging?Solopreneurs should revisit their messaging any time their business changes in a meaningful way. This includes adding or removing services, narrowing a niche, shifting strategy, or changing who they serve. Messaging should always follow business strategy, because outdated or unclear messaging creates confusion, and confusion is one of the biggest barriers to growth.

Most people think communication is about what you say. It's not. It's about what happens in the listener's brain before you finish your sentence. This episode breaks down the neuroscience of communication and why charisma is overrated. Real influence comes from how the brain processes sound, novelty, and behavior in real time. You'll learn the communication frameworks used by top performers, executives, and elite negotiators including vocal entrainment, micro-behavior mirroring, attention psychology, dopamine triggers, storytelling science, and credibility language patterns. We cover how to speak in short, high-impact bursts, use questions to increase engagement, and control silence in high-stakes conversations. These are practical tools pulled from boardrooms, negotiations, and live debates. If you want to communicate with confidence, influence faster, and be taken seriously in business, leadership, sales, and negotiations, this episode will change how you speak. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.'  Luke 2:10–11 As we close out the year, we're reminded just how deeply God loves each one of us personally, intentionally, and completely. At best Glinda starts the second film as what is comparable to a Nazi sympathizer... no matter her reasoning (which is that she likes getting stuff and being praised, not a very convincing excuse) She's not a good person at the start of the film... there is a seed of good but it always came from Elphie's influence, ALWAYS and ONLY because of Elphaba... now I do applaud her willingness to change because she feels guilt about it from the start but like he said Fiyaro was only pretending to go along with Wizard to be a double agent, not because he wanted power and fame... Glinda was in it for herself... but as a character we see her growth and it's true and genuine goodness in my opinion... I don't have a problem with the character's redemption what I have a problem with is the reaction, it seems like moreso in the second film but overall that the audience likes her more, and she's goofy and funny so I get it, she's charming and Ariana is adorable... but people are being just as niave as munchkins and the studio is being just like the wizard, she's marketable and it doesn't matter that she's not the good guy (per se) they can "sell" her and people are buying it... imagine missing the point that hard, embarrassing

New Hampshire Unscripted talks with the performance arts movers and shakers

Time to show some love to a few venues that I somehow always manage to overlook in our WKXL NH Unscripted “What's Happening in the Entertainment Scene” segments. But, first stop is me showering kudos and love on Greg Gaskell's production of “Ye Merry Gentlemen” taking place at the Players Ring in Portsmouth. Then some deep admiration for Ernest Thompson for his kind and voluminous shoutouts to folks that he has worked with (it honestly caught me off guard). Then a tip of the hat to the various Christmas Carol productions about to take place around the state (humbly highlighting the version at Jean's Playhouse where I play Scrooge) and then off we go. The Tupelo Music Hall (The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band), Capitol Center for Arts (Cookies, Cocoa & Kindness) & (Stand By Me: The Film and Its Stars 40 yrs Later), Bank of NH Stage (Safe Haven Ballet Charlie Brown Christmas), Palace Theater (Nutcracker, Christmas Carol, Footloose, Cabaret) all get some NH Unscripted love.

What does it mean to be a man? This is a lively and revealing three-way conversation with Mark, Kelly, and our returning guest Jon Carl Lewis (and our first episode in a long time in which we've had the pleasure of a guest in-studio with us!) that spans a wide range of topics related to the spirituality and embodiment of masculinity—whether straight, queer, or trans. Using as our jumping-off point the shared experience of being adult men facing the challenges of caring for and losing parents, the conversation then deepens into discussing the paradox of being simultaneously men of the world and “children of God,” balancing trusting God to help with our troubles and doing what we can in our power as well, and the need that even the strongest man has for community. Oh yeah, and then we start taking about sexuality as well! Listen for the first half of this candid, soul-baring conversation!

Jon Carl Lewis describes himself as “your average queer, liberative theologian and spiritual guide.” His work invites” individuals and communities into conversation around how integration of the spiritual and the sexual/erotic can enliven and reconcile people of faith to themselves, the sacred, their communities, and all of creation.” His Substack is called “Ramblings (of a Queer, Christian Contemplative) (queerchristianramblings.substack.com). ***** Special thanks to our sponsors at Quoir, publishers of The Quollective. There is so much talent and entertainment in this little state and it's time once again for WKXL's NH Unscripted to shine a spotlight on some goings on. First up, I show a little more love than usual to the show's sponsor The Law Offices of Shaheen & Gordon. There local community involvement is dang impressive and we get to highlight some of it. Then it's time to shower some praise on recent and upcoming productions from The Players Ring in Portsmouth (Ye Merry Gentlemen), Powerhouse Theatre Collaborative (Fezziwig's After Dark & A Christmas Carol), The Community Players of Concord (The Adams Family), Lend Me a Theater (Dinner theater at Kimball Jenkins), The Village Players (Sweeney Todd) and North Country Center for the Arts aka Jean's Playhouse (Ghostlight and Christmas Carol). We toss in some great songs from the 60's, a little bit of rambling from yours truly and bingo, bango, bongo we got our selves a show.

Rambling Through Everyday Life Podcast

This week's podcast might just be one of our favorites yet. We talked about cozy fall things like a cranberry orange simmer pot and deeper things, like our thoughts, our struggles, and the way God transforms us through them. Somewhere between laughter and reflection, we found ourselves saying, "We've lost our ability to consider other perspectives," and it hit us hard. We also talked about how sin, as painful as it is, can be the very thing God uses to change us from the inside out. And then this question: "Are you thinking about what you're thinking about?" Because we average 10,000 thoughts a day, and each one can either pull us closer to life and peace or further into chaos. Philippians 4:8–9 is our memory verse this month, and it's such a grounding reminder: to center our minds on what's true, noble, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy—and to actually live it out. When we do, the God of peace meets us right there. We hope that with each and every episode, you will find us talking about Jesus in our everyday lives while also learning, being challenged, and growing together while loving and laughing about what makes up our everyday lives.  We are so thankful Jesus is right there with us in the middle of it all.  Cranberry Orange Simmer Pot Recipe for Fall and Christmas Candle warmer lamp Granny Pants Yard Game  Knowing God by J I Packer Each episode is recorded on the campus of Union University! Rachel Maddow points out the exceptional and unusually effusive praise and thanks that Donald Trump heaped on Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the president of Egypt, at an event tied to the Israel-Gaza ceasefire, in which Trump bizarrely mentioned his race against Hillary Clinton. The episode calls to mind a mysterious $10 million and a related investigation's questions left open-ended after Trump was inaugurated the first time.Rachel Maddow looks at recent examples of Donald Trump using the power of American taxpayers to cut deals for himself and his friends and family, and focuses on the especially galling case of Trump and his Treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, sending an extraordinary $20 billion to bail out Argentina at a time when the U.S. government is closed for lack of funding.Rachel Maddow reports that the number of events planned for the "No Kings" day of protest on Saturday, October 18 already exceeds the previous "No Kings" protests that drew millions of Americans to voice their opposition to Donald Trump's overreach and attacks on democracy in the United States.
