In this audio-only episode today you can join me at home as I potter around, and take time to relax while recording a rambling episode for you to enjoy. Enjoy the sounds of street noise outside, and my attempts to find the most comfortable spot in my flat where I can ramble about various things, including several robberies in Paris - one of which is the famous heist at the Louvre museum, where burglars broke in and stole precious jewels worth millions, in broad daylight. The other robbery was more painful - our own apartment, which was broken into earlier this year. Join me as I discuss all of these things and more. Life imitates art and I even heard a little girl cheer when Glinda slapped Elphaba and I was like "WHAT?!?" At best Glinda starts the second film as what is comparable to a Nazi sympathizer... no matter her reasoning (which is that she likes getting stuff and being praised, not a very convincing excuse) She's not a good person at the start of the film... there is a seed of good but it always came from Elphie's influence, ALWAYS and ONLY because of Elphaba... now I do applaud her willingness to change because she feels guilt about it from the start but like he said Fiyaro was only pretending to go along with Wizard to be a double agent, not because he wanted power and fame... Glinda was in it for herself... but as a character we see her growth and it's true and genuine goodness in my opinion... I don't have a problem with the character's redemption what I have a problem with is the reaction, it seems like moreso in the second film but overall that the audience likes her more, and she's goofy and funny so I get it, she's charming and Ariana is adorable... but people are being just as niave as munchkins and the studio is being just like the wizard, she's marketable and it doesn't matter that she's not the good guy (per se) they can "sell" her and people are buying it... imagine missing the point that hard, embarrassing

This week's podcast might just be one of our favorites yet. We talked about cozy fall things like a cranberry orange simmer pot and deeper things, like our thoughts, our struggles, and the way God transforms us through them. Somewhere between laughter and reflection, we found ourselves saying, "We've lost our ability to consider other perspectives," and it hit us hard. We also talked about how sin, as painful as it is, can be the very thing God uses to change us from the inside out. And then this question: "Are you thinking about what you're thinking about?" Because we average 10,000 thoughts a day, and each one can either pull us closer to life and peace or further into chaos. Philippians 4:8–9 is our memory verse this month, and it's such a grounding reminder: to center our minds on what's true, noble, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy—and to actually live it out. When we do, the God of peace meets us right there. Clare explores a six-mile loop of the Chater Valley in this week's Ramblings. Her companion is Will Hetherington who wrote to the programme inviting Clare to join him. He wanted to share his story of sudden bereavement, and the positivity that ultimately emerged from it.Tragically, in 2017, Will's first wife, Wendy, took her own life. It was an enormous shock, bringing with it what Will describes as “complicated grief.” However, a remark at her funeral about a long walk Will and Wendy had once done together led to the suggestion that he organise a group walk in her name. Sixty people turned up for that first hike, and it's now grown into a regular event known as Walk for Wendy. Will says walking has been a wonderful way for him to process his emotions, and for others to step away from the daily grind and open up about the things that affect them. His passion for the outdoors has even led him to publish a series of books about walking in the local area. Clare and Will met in North Luffenham, continued onto Pilton, Wing, Lyndon and then completed their circuit by returning to North Luffenham.
