In this session, children's ministry directors and good friends Naomi and Shiv will tag team to explore the importance of building godly connections with others in ministry. Shiv Rapley Shiv has been heavily involved in both children and youth ministry for over 15 years. She is the Children's Ministry Director at City Gates Church, Ilford. She also co-ordinates an annual evangelistic youth conference called Girl Talk. Naomi Nelson Naomi is currently the Children's Pastor at City Church Swansea. She is also an Elim Minister in Training. She is passionate about giving children the best start in their relationships with God and helping them grow in their emotional and mental well-being.
Charles will speak about his experiences supporting children and adults with autism. He will discuss leadership and team building as well as giving practical examples of situations he has encountered in his role at SKY Autism and how these were resolved. Charles Zinyama Charles has a degree in theology from Regents Theological College. Charles is the youth leader of Beacon Elim Church and currently works for SKY Autism, Malvern.
This seminar will trace Elim's progress from near collapse to an established and growing Pentecostal movement. Maldwyn Jones has been a minister in Elim for 53 years and has pastored several Elim churches. He was appointed as Elim's historian in 2014.
Anna chaplains accompany older people in their spiritual journey and are appointed by local churches, serving in different contexts across the UK. Debbie will share the charity's vision, hoping to inspire others to engage with this growing ministry. Debbie Ducille Debbie is church lead for the Bible Reading Fellowship's national Anna Chaplaincy team, heading up strategic work with UK church denominations and enabling the rapidly expanding network.
Good leadership is crucial to the health of every local church. This session explores the functions and responsibilities of leadership within the life of local church. Jamie Lavery Jamie has been an Elim Minister for almost 13 years, 7 of which have been in his current role leading Elim Crawley. Jamie is married to Sophie, and they have two children. Martin Gaunt Martin is the manager of adult social care for Surry County Council, leading a large team of social workers. Within the local church, he has been an elder in Elim Crawley for 25 years.

Iona Ledwidge Iona is one of the Executive Directors at Resurgo, a social impact organisation, overseeing the award-winning Spear Programme which coaches young people facing significant barriers to employment. Iona also engages leaders in business in how to adopt a coaching approach in their leadership style. Megan Reilly Megan is an International Coaching Federation accredited coach at PCC level and has worked for Resurgo, a social impact organisation, for seven years. After working on their Spear and Re-Work Programmes, she now oversees Resurgo's church partnerships in the North of the UK. Megan is passionate about the church engaging in social transformation in their local contexts.
Stuart Blount Stuart has been a minister in Elim for 35 years and a member of the National Leadership Team since 2006. He was appointed Director of Ministry in 2016. Ishbel Straker Ishbel is CEO and founder of I Straker Consultants and is recognised as an expert in the field of addiction and the treatment of co-existing mental health problems. She is an experienced expert witness, an Honorary Clinical Lecturer for Middlesex University, and Ambassador for the Department of Psychology for Edge Hill University.
What does it mean to be a “Looked After Child”? We will discuss potential impacts, things churches should be aware of, and how we can help share Christ's love given the different experiences and challenges that looked after children face. Louise Humber Louise is a qualified social worker who has worked within a local authority Children's Services department for 12 years. She has gained a variety of experience most latterly as a senior social worker supervising foster carers. Louise joined Elim's safeguarding department in October 2022 as an Assistant National Safeguarding Coordinator. Grace Saalmans Grace is an Elim Assistant National Safeguarding Coordinator and is also Elim's Early Years Operations Manager. She is a qualified teacher and has taught in early years settings. Prior to this, Grace worked as the Children's, Youth and Families worker in her local Elim church.
How can we be distinct and hopeful amid so many obstacles in our cultural landscape? Gavin Calver is the CEO of the Evangelical Alliance. He has a burning passion to see the church working together to share the Gospel throughout the UK. Formerly the leader of Youth for Christ and chair of Spring Harvest, he's an ordained evangelist and regular public speaker, and has authored six books. Married to Anne, they have two children.
Olivia Amartey Olivia is the Executive Director for Elim and also serves as the associate pastor of Crosspoint Church, Birmingham. Her career encompasses several senior management positions in a range of different organisations including the Probation Service, the Church of England and the NHS. Osoba Otaigbe Osoba is a Baptist Minister and works for the Bible Society and Gather Movement. He is the author of ‘Building cultural intelligence in church and ministry: 10 ways to assess and improve your cross- cultural competence in church, ministry and the workplace.'
