I got to spend a lunch break with Jeremy Krauze and Chris Stonesteel, the owners of Society Sandwich Bar & Social Club in Greenville, SC, a 2 floor sandwich bar and social club specializing in gourmet sandwiches, ramen, cocktails and craft beer. I spoke to Jeremy and Chris about how they came up with the concept and name for Society. Where they got their menu inspiration from, as well as, discussed how they started and opened a restaurant during the pandemic and how they get out of their heads. I asked Jeremy how he used his experience handling social media for other bars and restaurants and how he used his graphics experience from his clothing brand- White Rabbit Supply Company to shape the look and design for Society Sandwich Bar and what tips he had for others to be successful in creating content for their own businesses. Lunch with Biggie is a podcast about small business and creatives sharing their stories and inspiring you to pursue your passion, with some sandwich talk on the side. We interview Chef Olive Davis. She's been a charter boat chef in the Caribbean, appeared on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" with Guy Fieri, was the chef at Stella's in Gulfport, and was part of the opening team for Locale as the in-house butcher. Currently, Olive is the chef at Salty's Sandwich Bar in Gulfport, and we love the food. At the top of the show, for Cinco de Mayo, we have Abby Allen-Leach with her recipe for Quesa Birria Tacos. Be sure to wear your apron for this one. It's worth it though!
This week we trialled and can now confirm a bit of a life hack for all our CBD workers out there. And by life hack we mean we’ve found you your new weekly lunch spot obsession. And it goes by the name of... drum roll pls... Joe's Sandwich Bar! You can find this heavenly hole-in-the-wall on Kent street where it will be dishing out all the essential work day cravings such as coffee, treats and of course, sandwiches. To make things more fun, it’s vegan! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
This episode is brought to you by surfing FBI agents. Welcome to Dinner Tonight Atlanta! I get it - there are too many great restaurants in Atlanta. That's why I'm going to decide for you. I’m taking you neighborhood by neighborhood, week by week through the restaurants of Atlanta. Nobody is actually paying me to do this (yet). I'm just here to help you decide where to go. This week we’re going to Downtown Decatur. We're going to Victory Sandwich Bar at 340 Church St in Decatur. This is a hip "order at the counter" joint serving gourmet sandwiches. They also have a jack and coke slushy machine which will hit the spot. Note that the sandwiches are small, so Utah, gimme two (that was a Point Break reference for you youngun's out there). This is Susan Cooper and I just decided where you’re going to dinner tonight.
We're down here in Aruba right now for the second part of our February 2018 trip. Maggie and I are very excited to report to you this evening for the events that happened from arrival day until now. So it started with us staying at our pre-flight hotel in Ramada, which was just nice. Nothing spectacular but it gets the job done. We arrived at the airport at around 4:40 am, with plenty of time to spare for our 7:00 am flight. We landed at Aruba just past lunchtime at 12:20 pm and everything went smoothly except for some minor hiccups over at Amigo’s when we got our rental car and our experience with the people at Super Food. Our first meal in Aruba happened at Pickle’s, Sandwich Bar and More. As can be inferred from their business name, they specialize in sandwiches which were pretty great. Aside from that, we opted to get tasty smoothies too. Afterwards, we spent some time in Eagle beach to nap but had to leave earlier due to a light sprinkle and an unexpected bout of cold weather. Well as cold as Aruba could get anyway. Dinner was spent at Kalin’s and we highly recommend this place. Aside from the amazing Mexican food, their restaurant is open until 12:30 am during weekdays and until 2:30 am during weekends, which is just perfect for people like us who are looking to catch up on some late night dinners. Come morning, we headed straight to Arashi and spent the entire day doing our favorite activity in Aruba: relaxing on the beach. The vibe was just perfect for a Sunday with families and their pets playing around in good-natured fun. Tonight we’re about to eat some Chinese food on a place called Ling’s Restaurant and we will report on that next episode so stay tuned! And of course, let’s not forget about Friend’s of One Happy Podcast’s Hangout this Tuesday, February 27th at Barney’s! We can’t wait to see you there. As always, if you have feedback for One Happy Podcast or just want to leave any kind of message, hit me up on curt@onehappypodcast.com or call our hotline number (302) 635-0815. See you next time! ON THIS EPISODE OF ONE HAPPY PODCAST, YOU WILL: Know Maggie’s “Ceviche rankings” on the island. Learn what is the food that I consider Maggie as an expert on. Hear a cool story of how we ended up sitting together on the flight to Aruba. EarTheater is moving forward with frequent live events in Florida! We could not be happier than to start this relationship with Sandwich Bar right here in Orlando. This mix represents the opening sets of the night by Chris Tennant, John Hession and Mark E Hunt; in that order. This was just the beginning of our devotion to the Deepest House nights in town. Enjoy Part One as you embark on your weekend of music and watch for part two next week. Episode 54 finds John Hession in the deepest house set yet on our Podcast. There are funky overtones, melodic vocal segways and strong resonating energy to be found throughout the mix. The tracks blend almost seamlessly as we have come to expect from John. If this is any indication of his upcoming set with other EarTheater DJs on Friday June 24th at Sandwich Bar in Orlando, you better get there early. It will get deep fast. Mathew Scot spends most nights at his very own Sandwich Bar in Orlando Florida. While his club continues its trek towards infamy, his DJing grows in its own right. He has evolved to move boldly between songs and styles. This 16 track / 1 hour set works hard to weave fun dance rhythms with deep and progressive lines. With a heavy hand in house and a drive to always bring new releases to the crowd, this Episode is right up our music alley. Enjoy and thanks for listening!
