Jamie Searle, a.k.a. @jjeromemusic, joined me for Episode No. 154, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to've met him and gotten to know him a little bit.Jamie is a son, a husband, a father, a musician, a songwriter, a producer, and he's the guy that runs The Westport Bowery, so holler at him for any of your booking/entertainment needs for that venue. Our conversation touched on family, growing up, the lenses of perspective and identity, making art, being outdoors, and the love of music, just to name a few topics. While we were in that last neighborhood, we did pause for a moment to look at a few of Jamie's favorite albums, which were these:Rubber Soul (1965), The BeatlesDonny Hathaway & Roberta Flack's self-titled release (1972)Thriller (1982), Michael JacksonNirvana's Nevermind (1991)Malibu (2016), Anderson .PaakJamie's other Instagram handles are @chromaticcontact, @mbandskc, and @westportbowery, so please consider giving his @jjerome account a follow, and -- while you're there -- have a peek at those, too. Chris Gaelan is an old friend of Rockledge. Among other things, he is the man who pointed us to the defunct kombucha store out on Route 28 that's now gone, the patronage of which led us to start making kombucha. So you might say we owe him everything. When he's not helping change the direction of our lives, Chris is a singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer.  Last month he released his first music as a solo artist, a single entitled  “Just Another Love Song.' But it's not just another love song — rather, it is a grooving indie rock song reminiscent of early Blur, featuring a distorted driving post-punk bass sample over live drums and a Lou Reed-esque half-spoken vocal. The song draws influences from 90's sample-delic artists such as Lemon Jelly with twangy dobro, guitar, and piano samples combined with Stonesy guitars and claps—mixing house music vibes with a nostalgic rock feel. Got it? In other words, it's a great song. And Chris is a great guy. We are thrilled to share his insights on music and life with the rest of you. We hope it tickles. #chrisgaelan #musician #singersongwriter #justanotherlovesong #growth #tickled #howtotickleyourself #spirituality

Number 3 in my series exploring the truth about the current state of music and the music industry. This month Fred Deakin, of Lemon Jelly and now Professor of Digital Arts at UAL. Fred has been part of club culture and the wiser music scene for most of his life, from putting on club nights and DJing in his university days in Edinburgh, moving to London and doing more of that, then workign on fanzines with his sister, meeting Nick Franglen and making music as Lemon Jelly (and getting nominated for a Mercury Music Prize) Frank Eddie and Flashman, starting and running one of the countries most innovative and sought after design agencies in the form of Airside to his current position as a Professor of Digital Arts at UAL. Fred has tirelessly explored and pushed the bouderies of music, design and interaction and his thoughts on the future are very interesting as well as the prospect of some original music from him... More on Fred at his website http://freddeak.in/ There may be some explicit language...

Working Class Audio #149 with Dom Morley!!! Dom Morley is a Grammy Award winning producer and mixer based in his own Oxfordshire (UK) studio. Dom engineered  Amy Winehouse's number 1 "Back To Black" album, Mark Ronson's "Version" and "Record Collection", Richard Ashcroft's 'These People' and "Keys' To The World', the Grinderman (Nick Cave) debut album and singles for Adele, Morrissey & Estelle amongst others. Some recent mixes include Sting's 5.1 "Live at Durham Cathedral", Solomon Grey's debut album, Mull Historical Society's 'Dear Satellite' & 'City Awakenings' (both of which Dom also produced) 'Colin MacIntyre's "The Water", the Million Dollar Quartet OCR, and the soundtrack for the upcoming British film 'Gozo'. Dom has also engineered or mixed for Rag'n'Bone Man, The Staves, Rumer, Keane, Birdy, Lemon Jelly, Jeff Beck, Sting, I Am Kloot, The Verve, Live8 (DVD) and Underworld, as well as working with The Police on the pre-production for their world tour and recording and mixing the audio for the 5 "Intros" and "Input/Output" series (Mumford & Sons, Florence & The Machine etc) for Channel 4 and Island Records. Dom has also recently undertaken a sound design project, providing all the sounds for the Samplephonics 'Dirty Modular' Kontakt instrument ("Great waveform library. Excellent sound" MusicRadar / "great sound quality of waveform library" producerspot.com). Read more about Dom at www.dommorley.com , his studio at www.flintbarnstudio.com or at Wikipedia.    About this Interview: I can't honestly remember how I came to be emailing with Dom Morley. I do know it took us awhile to figure out a workable time to do it. Time Zones.......what a head scratcher when it comes to interview planning. Anyway, I talk with Dom about his work with Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse, staying busy even though he lives out in the English countryside and work/life balance among many other topics. Enjoy.  Show notes and links: Dom's website: http://www.dommorley.com Don's Studio : http://www.flintbarnstudio.com Mix Consultancy: https://themixconsultancy.com Fjord Audio Kickstarter Lij Shaw's Recording Studio Rockstars Podcast

This is probably the first real Ambient/Chill/Downtempo set I've done lately. It didn't necessarily start out with a theme. It includes tracks from Pete Namlook and Silence, The Orb, Tricky feat. Fifi Rong, Lemon Jelly, Irresistible Force, Goldfrapp, plus some you may not have expected. All edits or whatever you want to call it done while mixing. If you would like a complete track list, please let me know. Be Chilled Always Planet Earth this Summer and Life . :)
