He is best known for being the former leader of rap group 2 Live Crew, and star of his own short-lived show on VH1, Luke's Parental Advisory. As a result of one of the group's songs, which used a parody of Roy Orbison's "Oh, Pretty Woman", Campbell was party to Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music, Inc., which was argued in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. As a result, the Miami New Times described Campbell as "the man whose booty-shaking madness once made the U.S. Supreme Court stand up for free speech". The 2 Live Crew was an American hip hop group from Miami, United States which had its greatest commercial success in the late 1980s to the early 1990s. Fronted by Luke Campbell, they were considerably controversial in the U.S. due to the sexually explicit and misogynistic content in their songs, particularly on their 1989 album As Nasty As They Wanna Be.They were frequently challenged for their sexually explicit lyrics.Florida man podcast, crazy Florida stories, Florida man, fresh produce florida, crime, funny story, Tune in now watch, like and Subscribe Pretty Please!! Check out the Podcast Video on youtube. https://youtu.be/f3D1s0YNsoM Faheem Rasheed Najm (born September 30, 1985),[1] better known by his stage name T-Pain, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. His debut album, Rappa Ternt Sanga, was released in 2005. In 2007, T-Pain released his second album Epiphany, which reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. His third album, Thr33 Ringz, was released in 2008. T-Pain has also released a string of hit singles, including "I'm Sprung", "I'm 'n Luv (Wit a Stripper)", "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')", "Bartender", "Can't Believe It", "5 O'Clock" and more. T-Pain has earned two Grammy Awards, alongside artists Kanye West and Jamie Foxx respectively. T-Pain is the founder of the record label imprint Nappy Boy Entertainment, established in 2005. Throughout his career as a singer, T-Pain is best known for using and popularizing the creative use of the Auto-Tune pitch correction effect, used with extreme parameter settings to create distinctive vocal sounds. From 2006 to 2010, T-Pain was featured on more than 50 chart topping singles. His most successful feature to date was on Flo Rida's debut single "Low", which has since been certified 6x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). He has called his style of music "Hard & B". T-Pain uses Auto-Tune, a pitch-correcting audio processor, for his vocals. Music critic Andy Kellman compared T-Pain's singing style to that of Cher in her 1998 hit "Believe", in which Cher used voice enhancements. In response to Jay-Z's single "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)", T-Pain stated that he would still use the method. T-Pain's use of Auto-Tune has been cited as an influence on other urban artists' works, including Snoop Dogg's single "Sexual Eruption", Lil Wayne's single "Lollipop", and Kanye West's album 808s & Heartbreak. In November 2008, T-Pain demanded credit from other artists who used Auto-Tune. Check out the Podcast Video on youtube. https://youtu.be/vUGyQAysxl4 Elián González Brotons (born December 6, 1993) is a Cuban citizen who, as a young boy in 2000, became embroiled in a heated international custody and immigration controversy involving the governments of Cuba and the United States; his father, Juan Miguel González Quintana; his other relatives in Cuba and in Miami, Florida; and Miami's Cuban-American community. González's mother, Elizabeth Brotons Rodríguez, drowned in November 1999 while attempting to leave Cuba with González and her boyfriend to get to the United States. The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) initially placed González with paternal relatives in Miami, who sought to keep him in the United States against his father's demands that González be returned to Cuba. A United States district court ruling from the Southern District of Florida that only González's father, and not his extended relatives, could petition for asylum on the boy's behalf was upheld by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. After the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear the case, federal agents, by order of U.S. attorney general Janet Reno, took González from the paternal relatives at gunpoint and returned him to his father in Cuba in June 2000. Many Cubans had left Cuba for the United States since the Cuban Revolution of 1959. This emigration was illegal under both Cuban and U.S. laws; e.g., any Cuban found at sea attempting to reach U.S. shores could be deported by the United States or be arrested by Cuban authorities. At the time, U.S. policy had evolved into a so-called "wet feet, dry feet" rule. If a Cuban was picked up at sea or walking toward shore, they were repatriated unless they could make a claim of asylum. If they made it to shore (or entered through Mexico) before encountering U.S. authorities, they were generally allowed to remain in the country. Tune in now watch, like and Subscribe Pretty Please!! The case was very controversial because despite lack of "black and white" evidence the prosecution still went after her for the highest charges of first degree murder, aggravated manslaughter, and aggravated child abuse, among others. It wasn't a secret that Casey Anthony had something to do with it, or knew something about it, because she lied to the police numerous times, led them on wild goose chases for people that didn't exist, lied to her parents about where their granddaughter was for a month when they wanted to see or speak to her and kept the fact she was missing for month hidden. In fact, it was actually her own parents, Cindy and George Anthony, who called the cops. Listen in as Phraydoe and Thompson debate over what charges they should have tried her with and if the procesuction and world should have accepted lower charges since there wasn't a "smoking gun" and settled for what they could prove, like neglect, falsifying information etc. Tune in now watch, like and Subscribe Pretty Please!! Check out the Podcast Video on youtube. https://youtu.be/zDV9kDS3ycw Join your hosts, Phraydoe Peans and Thompson as they discuss Edward Leedskalnin and his coral castle that he built as a labor of love to win his ex bride to be's affection. Edward Leedskalnin was from Latvia. He came to America after being left at the altar. He found his way to Florida after coming down with tuberculosis. Once recovered he purchased some land and got to work building a castle out of oolite limestone with the intentions of winning back his bride to be. With no assistance or modern machinery he used his knowledge of magnets and physics, combined with his skills of stonemasonery from the old country and build this amazing monument. Because he kept his knowledge and techniques severely secret, this construction was an astounding feat to the world as he was small in statue, only 5 feet tall and 100 lbs. After several years he moved his castle 10 miles down the road to where it now stands. He at first charged 10 cents admission but once relocated charged 25 cents. He lived modestly, on the castle grounds and rode his bicycle everywhere. Join them as they discuss his beginnings, his construction of this modern marvel that some refer to as the 8th world wonder, and his legacy. They also talk about the belief that he didn't build this for his ex bride but for his architectural machinery that aided the building of coral castle that could change all modern technology. Check out the Podcast Video on youtube. https://youtu.be/6fOaFbue1Os Join your hosts, Phraydoe Peans and Thompson as they discuss the Ocoee Election Day Massacre of 1920. On November 2nd 1920, in the town of Ocoee Florida, July Perry and Mose Norman, two very affluent and influential African Americans, were refused their right to vote, despite already paying the voting tax. Blacks had essentially been disenfranchised in Florida since the turn of the century, but Norman and Perry were among those working on the voter drive. Norman contacted Judge John Cheney, who told him that interference with voting was illegal and told him to write the names down of the African Americans who were denied their constitutional rights, as well as the names of the whites who were violating them. Norman later returned to the polling place in Ocoee. Whether Norman came with a shotgun is not entirely clear, but whites at the polls drove off Norman by using his own shotgun, according to witnesses. A few hours later a white mob surrounded the home of July Perry, where Norman was thought to have taken refuge. After Perry drove away the white mob with gunshots, killing two men and wounding one who tried to break into his home, the mob called for reinforcements from Orlando and Orange County. The whites from surrounding areas came to Ocoee and obliterated the African-American community in northern Ocoee and eventually killed Perry. Hundreds of other African Americans fled the town, leaving behind their homes and possessions. Listen in and they discuss this tragic and little known event.
