You know I love listening to other expat podcasts. Well, my client, Amanda Bates of The Black Expat, has an incredible podcast called The Global Chatter, which is:"a conversational podcast on international mobility, identity, race, career, and more. Each episode takes a deeper dive on issues related to the expatriate experience, especially as it relates to Black and Brown people."This is an episode swap with The Global Chatter. Hurrah! JK Hobson is Amanda's guest. They talk about his wild career trajectory to places in the world (Puerto Rico, New York City, Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City, etc) and of course, identity and race experiences that he's noticed and experienced along the way.  Oh, and lot's of musical references because he is a musician and Amanda loves music!Their conversation is intense, funny and insightful. And it's here to make your ears happy. Let me know what you think. I'm @stephfuccio on the socials. Shankar is a Writer, Podcaster and he claims to be a newbie to coffee. However, after having this conversation with him and hearing his coffee experiences in his home country of India, I beg to differ. I think he is a bonafide coffee fanatic and a discriminating one at that. We chat about his first coffee experience, coffee culture in Northern versus Southern India and why he intentionally does not use a coffee grinder at home. In between the laughter, Shankar teaches us about the growing coffee culture in India, especially in his current city of Bangalore, the I.T. capital of the country AND where his brother (hi Vishnu!) and he spend a lot of time in coffee shops researching their Writer & Geek Podcast. Newsletter: https://www.getrevue.co/profile/stephfuccioCheck it out: https://www.getrevue.co/profile/stephfuccio

Questions about family can be triggering if the experience was not ideal. This is one of the reasons that Steph's talked about her family in tiny drips here and there but not in depth. But it felt disingenuous to ask other expats to open up about their early family life growing up with immigrant parents without diving into these experiences herself. So to help with this tabled turned interview, Melissa was kind enough to hop in and guide the conversation. Although I didn't end up in Marketing, I still listen to, often apply and share the things I learn in this podcast because it's short, practical, honest, and oddly funny.
