It was fun doing this podcast, but sadly, it has run its course. You will still get to find all of our ideas for recipes and different themes for your movie nights at home on our website www.movienightsathome.com.  HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK'S SHOW: Don't forget to subscribe to our weekly newsletter for new ideas each week and find something easy to do with your friends or family. By the way, we did watch all the movies we promised we would watch from last week's “dare to watch” episode.  Jake watched Lilo & Stitch and thought it came out at the wrong time for a traditional, animated movie because he thought it was better than 90% of the Pixar movies that came out. Kalee watched Baby Driver and she liked it – and the music was her favorite part! Kim watched Bottle Shock starring Chris Pine which was based on a true story, and she enjoyed it as well. What movies would you dare your friends to watch? What movies would you dare us to watch? HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK'S SHOW: To give you a visual of how this works exactly, each one of us will get a name and then we will suggest a movie for that person that they have not seen.  Then throughout the week, we have to watch the movie suggested, whether together or alone, which we will then discuss in the next episode. Jake dares Kalee to watch Baby Driver, Kim dares Jake to watch Lilo & Stitch, and Kalee dares Kim to watch Bottle Shock. In our previous episode, we tried to determine the best Disney movie of all time. But a couple of things happened. And so, we decided not to reveal the winner because we realized we needed to refine the category and put out some better criteria. HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK'S SHOW: Two of our listeners actually got upset that Cars and Finding Nemo were not on our list.  Jake loves The Incredibles. It's a great movie, but for him, it doesn't make it to the list of all-time best Disney movies. Yup, we admit Finding Nemo may have been a miss on our part! What's so special about Disney is that wherever you are in your life, a story can just hit you that it will forever be your favorite movie. Next time, if we're going to do Disney movies, we will make sure to drill it down to a specific category like best Disney princess, best Disney guy movie, or whatever it is. Today, we're talking about our best and worst theater experiences. While we had our fair share of the best and most magical theater experiences, we also had quite a taste of our worst experiences – ever – which is one of the reasons we don't want to go back to the theaters anymore and we much rather prefer doing movie nights at home.  HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK'S SHOW: Being able to go to these unique, classical, or retro theaters just adds to the overall experience.  There's something magical about watching a movie in a drive-in theater while seeing a shooting star and enjoying a box of pizza with your loved ones and your dogs. Imagine a person in front of your seat who keeps belching or someone who previously watched the movie spewing out spoilers the entire time. You never want to sit beside these kinds of people for sure! Recliners inside movie theaters don't work because people come in and they will only make themselves at home. And so, they just don't work – period. We saw Harry Potter Part 2 at least five times. It was the experience and the movie itself. Kim and Kalee and all four generations of them went to see Titanic. Lesson learned: If you're seeing a popular movie, always ask how many tickets are left. And if you haven't watched some of these, these are great movie ideas worth putting on your list. HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK'S SHOW: Kalee loves The Godfather Part II (Don't forget about setting up a Godfather-themed movie night at home as well!). HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK'S SHOW: Which Christmas movie character are we most likely Basically, Kate (Reese Witherspoon) and Brad (Vince Vaughn) can't get out of visiting four houses in one day; hence, the Four Christmases.  House #1: Brad's dad (Robert Duvall) – this was our favorite house! House #2: Kate's mom (Mary Steenburgen) – many funny scenes except for one long scene which we thought was completely unnecessary. The nativity play scene is just hilarious! House #3: Brad's mom (Sissy Spacek) – her boyfriend was Vince Vaughn's best friend growing up. This is where Brad just completely shut down. What movie would you just watch over and over again? For Jake, it's Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Kim's pick is Just Go With It, and Kalee's is You've Got Mail. But today, we're going to be talking about movies that have let us down and have burned us! HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK'S SHOW: The second of the Star Wars trilogy, The Last Jedi, just let Jake down. This movie had a new director and they just ruined the characterizations of most characters. Why we think the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was the worst mini-series ever! Kalee hates My Bestfriend's Wedding. Why did Julia Roberts' character made her cringe? Kim's pick is Message in a Bottle. She didn't realize Nicholas Sparks has this pattern. The first two releases of the The Godfather were perfect, but we didn't like the third one. (Check out our The Godfather movie night theme as well as our recipe for Clemenza's spaghetti.)  Why The Suicide Squad (the second one) didn't blow Kim away. Now, Jake explains why he thinks superheroes movies should be “the weirder, the better” Other movies that just burned us: Hanging Up, City of Angels, Donnie Darko (why Jake thinks it's the worst movie ever made), All About Steve, Kate and Leo's movie reunion Revolutionary Road, and The Shape of Water. HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK'S SHOW: Why Jake and Kim prefer to watch a game at home Here are our favorite picks: The Blind Side, Major League, The Longest Yard, Karate Kid, Robert Redford's The Natural, Little Giants, The Sandlot and Hardball. Jake thinks Varsity Blues is a quick and mindless movie but he likes it because some of its themes just hit home. Find out why the Field of Dreams is more than just a sports movie for him! In this episode, we're talking about movies that are best for outdoors so you can create the perfect movie night experience you could enjoy with your family and friends. Think outdoor movie theater – a projector, speakers, plus a fire pit and S'mores! Don't you think some movies are just way better when they're watched outside?  HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK'S SHOW: A couple of picks: Palm Springs (not for kids), The Handmaid's Tale & Nomadland Some equipment you need to complete your experience (projector, speakers, lantern, heat lamps, etc.) You can't have a movie night without food! But you have to know your audience first (so you know whether you could bring out the booze) Consider the movie time. An hour and a half should be tops. You don't want to watch The Godfather outdoors. Think about the theme you want to go for (ex. Drive-in theme, Hawaiian movie night, Halloween, Fourth of July, etc.).
