This year we accidentally made a very good choice of what to cover for our holiday episode. It began with wanting to discuss A Muppets Christmas Carol which then evolved into wanting to discuss the other adaptations and retellings of the Christmas classic which then led to a Dickensian feat. It's going to include Madelaine Turner's EXCELLENT research on Charles Dicken's life and Rebecca's subpar knowledge on the topic after watching The Man Who Invented Christmas (an eventual BBC classic). We also watched and will be discussing Ghosts of Girlfriends Past as *gasp* maybe the best adaptation of them all???t) We also watched A Barbie Christmas Carol, It's A Wonderful Life, A Holly Dolly Christmas, Mickey's Christmas Carol, Scrooged, to prep for the episode. That's a lot. We are experts. God bless us, everyone! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
My guest today is Oscar-winning actor and author, Matthew McConaughey. Matthew shares his inspiration for his latest children's book, "Just Because," and dives deep into the subject of parenting. Matthew shares the many lessons he has learned as a father of three and husband to his wife, Camilla, and what he continues to work on. Matthew's easy-going nature and chillness don't always translate to family life, he shares. Mean Girls is a 2004 Teen Romantic Comedy directed by Mark Waters, Mark Waters also directed Just Like Heaven, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Freaky Friday. This movie is also written by Tina Fey and produced by Lorne Michaels. Mean Girls is the story of Cady Heron played by Lindsay Lohan. She also meets the ‘plastics' or the MEAN GIRLS, Regina George, Karen Smith and Gretchen Wieners, played by Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert respectively. In the thirty sixth episode of the series we review the 2009 romantic comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past starring Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, and Michael Douglas
There is that movie Ghost of Girlfriends Past ....I am haunted by just girls from the past. I never really had the, what I assume would be, displeasure of having dated. The shit stain exwives are in tow as always....it's become clear that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. That couldn't be more fucking correct.....Tessa Stevens ex wife number one and Kristi Kuhn ex wife number two have been, from their incorrect, point of view, scorned, because once I learned of their betrayals I fuckin wanted nothing to do with them ever. I still don't. I never did anything to them physically nor intentionally on the emotional side. When I learned Kristi was a lying shit bag prostitute and not being honest and cheating on me with whomever had the funds to pay her I did tell her to get the fuck out of the apartment and and never wanted to see her ever again. I never laid a hand on her aside from pointing her towards the door because I was absolutely disgusted and never felt more alone and betrayed by anyone ever. I fuckin hate her but that doesn't mean I was abusive in anyway to her or Tessa. They have lied to everyone. They are the monsters. Not me. They are to be held responsible for the lives of those who have fallen in their wake of destruction. Fuck them. If you have enough money it really isn't that difficult.
This week we discuss all the drama dealing with a significant other's exes . . . past and present. As Holly and Bridget dig up the ghosts of girlfriends past, we discover the ways their presences still lingered at the mansion and in which ways it may have been used as a manipulation tactic. The girls tackle their first on-camera ghost hunt, bad energy at the mansion, thinking their food was drugged, mean girl PTSD, weed parties, gold digger core, breaking the 4th wall, the worst seance ever, ageism in the mansion world and the scene that was uncomfortable to watch as they cap off the most delightfully corny episode of Season 1, Ghostbusted! It's officially Christmas! We played some familiar games like Finish the Jingle and Lumps of Coal before diving into the 2009 romcom, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner. Although, the girls feel like Emma Stone stole the show. They discuss controversial topics like Pepsi vs Coke and whether wedding cakes are necessary. Finally they revisist some of their own ghosts from the past before playing a fun "guess this cheesy christmas movie title" game! Matthew McConaughey is an American actor and producer who has spent over 20 years working in the entertainment industry. His breakout role was in the 1993 coming-of-age comedy Dazed and Confused.Since then, the actor has starred in dozens of feature films including Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, The Wolf of Wall Street, and his Oscar-winning role of Ron Woodroof in Dallas Buyers Club. ‘Don't choose anything that will jeopardise your soul': Matthew McConaughey“First we have to define success for ourselves and then we have to put in the work to maintain it." the actor said“Because I want to keep all five in healthy shape and I know that if I don't take care of them, if I don't keep up maintenance on them one of them is going to get weak” McConaughey went on to say. “First we have to define success for ourselves and then we have to put in the work to maintain it.“Life is a series of commas, not periods.” – Matthew McConaughey Everyday Application: Live a life that is one long run on sentence. A comma is used to join independent clauses (among other things). A period is used to end a sentence. In life, the goal is to just keep going, which is what Matthew is trying to remind us of with this metaphor.Global Admissions Apply to universities online ____________________________________________________________Check out more episodes and subscribe on 2030school.com You can also email us at rich@2030school.com

Sean enjoys this film far more than he expected. A witty script and great performances by Matthew McConaughey and Michael Douglas make this film laugh out loud. Sean doesn't say this of course, he compares the film to a sugary doughnut. Thanks for listening!
What movie would you just watch over and over again? For Jake, it's Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Kim's pick is Just Go With It, and Kalee's is You've Got Mail. But today, we're going to be talking about movies that have let us down and have burned us! HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK'S SHOW: The second of the Star Wars trilogy, The Last Jedi, just let Jake down. This movie had a new director and they just ruined the characterizations of most characters. Why we think the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was the worst mini-series ever! Kalee hates My Bestfriend's Wedding. Why did Julia Roberts' character made her cringe? Kim's pick is Message in a Bottle. She didn't realize Nicholas Sparks has this pattern. The first two releases of the The Godfather were perfect, but we didn't like the third one. (Check out our The Godfather movie night theme as well as our recipe for Clemenza's spaghetti.) Why The Suicide Squad (the second one) didn't blow Kim away. Now, Jake explains why he thinks superheroes movies should be “the weirder, the better” Other movies that just burned us: Hanging Up, City of Angels, Donnie Darko (why Jake thinks it's the worst movie ever made), All About Steve, Kate and Leo's movie reunion Revolutionary Road, and The Shape of Water. Is it a good idea to directly lift a Christmas movie storyline for a movie that has literally nothing to do with Christmas? Is it possible to have such unlikeable characters on paper be charming throughout the entire film? Why did THAT mother-in-law scene exist? Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009) follows the story of Connor Meade (Matthew McConaughey) a renowned photographer and womanizer at the wedding of his younger brother Paul (Breckin Meyer). Although Connor has all intensions to convince Paul to call off the wedding, he get side tracked by his childhood love Jenny (Jennifer Garner) and the ghost of his dear Uncle Wayne (Michael Douglas). Wayne warns Connor that his lifestyle will not end well and in order to prove it Connor will be visited by three ghosts of girlfriends past (get it?) Following the RomCom, we are joined by the incredibly fun Michelle Tate. Michelle has been a cast member on the popular TV franchise, Ghost Hunters, employed as an onsite paranormal investigator, and is a native Texan. Born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel, actress, producer, writer and activist Noa Tishby got her start in the Israeli entertainment industry as a teen in the original musical David. She received a drama scholarship from the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and went on to appear in Israel’s leading TV shows, films, theater and ad campaigns, becoming a household name in her homeland. She recently appeared in the Showtime drama The Affair, and completed shooting the third season of her talk show Life By Noa Tishby. As a producer, Tishby made history with the sale of In Treatment to HBO: the first Israeli television show to become an American series. She co-produced the 12 Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated, and Peabody Award-winning In Treatment alongside Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson. In Treatment is currently in production for its forth season. With that first sale, Tishby created a market that did not exist before: the sale of Israeli TV formats in the U.S. Following In Treatment, Tishby formed and headed a Joint Venture between ITV Studios US and Israel’s major network, “Reshet”, to develop, create and produce TV content made in Israel for the international market. The company was the first to bring a U.S. production to film in Israel with a game show for CBS. Tishby sold numerous TV projects to major TV networks in the US among them HBO, Showtime, ABC, CBS, Comedy Central and MTV. Her U.S. acting credits includes The Island, The Ghost of Girlfriends Past, Star Trek, Big Love, CSI, Dig and The Affair. Socially and politically passionate, in 2011 Tishby founded the first Israel-focused online advocacy and rapid response organization, Act For Israel, and became a powerful voice for Israel and the Middle East. In 2014 Tishby initiated a partnership between The Schusterman Foundation and Summit Series and co-created Reality Israel, a series of leadership trips to Israel for Jews and non-Jews alike. Reality is now responsible for bringing over 1500 professionals in tech, music, food, sports and the arts and sciences to Israel. She was recognized as one of the 50 Most Powerful Jews in the World and was on Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Power list of international executives. Presently, Tishby is a keynote speaker and panelist at events around the world and has appeared in such venues as the United Nations General Assembly raising awareness against BDS in 2016, and the UN Salutes Israeli Innovation in 2019. She is a contributor to publications such as The Huffington Post, Jerusalem Post, The Jewish Journal, Tablet and Ynet, where she writes about policy, culture and international relations. After years of speaking and writing about Israel, both publicly and privately, Tishby has deciphered how to explain Israel in a clear and relatable way. Her first book “Israel: a Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth”, is forthcoming on April 6th 2021 from Free Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Tishby served in the Israeli army for two and a half years and can, when needed and if pushed to do it, kick some serious ass. She divides her time between Los Angeles and Tel Aviv, and is a proud Jewish momma to her son, Ari.
Welcome to MATTHEW ROM-COM IN MAY! Beck was out of town this week, so Amber so graciously lent their talents to us, and guest hosted this episode! Join Amber and Henry as they review the horrible rom-com they picked! Worry not for Beck's absence though, he is always listening...
It's the story we've all been waiting for: rich boy super-misogynist gets an introspective look at his life's failings from a bunch of ghosts. That's right- this week we watched the McConaughey non-classic, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Join us as we give this film zero McConaugh-yays and ask ourselves: is Breckin Meyer a poor man's Paul Rudd? Was McConaughey's whole career just an inevitable trajectory to those Lincoln commercials? and of course, is a somber rendition of O Canada enough to woo the casting directors of an elementary school musical? Please note we did not mention Jennifer Garner in this description as we think she deserves more
Happy Sunday Reeltors! This week I headed up to Nanaimo to visit, a very funny comedian and all around awesome human being, Jayden Worth to review the 2005 Matthew McConaughy action flick SAHARA. This movie was ridiculous. So many unbelievable action sequences. So much traveling in an impossibly short time. It's Africa!! It's a big continent!! You're not moving that fast!! And nobody drank water! Not. One. Person. Had a sip of water in this movie. Not one! They're all dead. They would all die of dehydration! And nobody ever ate any food? Nobody even once said they were hungry. Most movies that take place in the desert you at least hear one person say "Gah! I'm thirsty." Alright I'm getting distracted here. It was terrible but watchable. C'mon, it's Matthew McConaughy. At least it's like like Ghosts of Girlfriends Past or some shit like that. Be sure to SUBSCRIBE and turn on NOTIFICATIONS. I release a new episode every Sunday at 12:15 PST. Halfway through a five year commitment. Help me make it worth the effort and spread the word. I have a lot of fun making this for you guys! Seeya next week.

It's time for the first ever rom-com roast and toast! Together, Jordan, John, and Rhiane roast the awful 2009 Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner film. They point out the multiple issues with the movie, such as Matthew's nymphomania, Michael Douglas' dialogue, Lacey Chabert as Bridezilla, and the Stab 'N' Wagon. Later, they do a segment of Best and Worst and a segment of All Sides. Please leave a rating and review on iTunes so other people know that this podcast is worthy of a toast. Also, watch the country drama "Country Strong" starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw, as it will be the topic of conversation for the next episode. Thanks for listening!
We couldn't get enough of superhero reject movies after watching “Ghost Rider,” so we watched the DC flop "Jonah Hex" starring Josh Brolin as a guy with a gross face who kind of has powers but also doesn't. Jordan, John, and Rhiane point out the many flaws in the movie, including, but not limited to, the heavy metal score of the movie, the lack of explaining what's going on within the first minute of the movie, Megan Fox's accent, bad fire explosions, and they toast Michael Fassbender's amazing performance as an Irishman. Later, they do another amazing segment of All Sides, and they do a new segment called Smash, Marry, Kill Roast & Toast edition. Please leave a rating and review on iTunes so other people know that this podcast is worthy of a toast. Also, despite what is said at the end of the episode, watch the rom-com "Ghost of Girlfriends Past," as it will be the topic of conversation for the next episode. Thanks for listening!
