Meet Claire Mack, a business woman and San Mateo's first African American Mayor who hopes hopes she won't be the last. Former Mayor Mack ran a winning citywide campaign because she was very involved in her community. Thanks to affirmative action she got her start at KGO-TV then hosted community TV and radio shows for 30 years. She's responsible for launching KCSM's world famous Jazz 91, a radio jewel in the San Francisco Bay region. The 24-hour jazz format broadcast enjoys a worldwide reach of over 6 million with a current audience of about 200,000. Hosts include veteran jazz musicians, educators, and broadcasters who often are all three. She also sat on various city commissions and boards. Claire has a passion for her community because she was born and raised in San Mateo, and her family has lived in San Mateo for more than 100 years, which has allowed her family to enjoy a certain level of stature. She has three well-educated and successful daughters, lots of grandkids and great grandchildren. She also runs a bakery business out of her home, Claire's Crunch Cakes. The bakery helps sock money away for her grandchildren's college education. If you're in the Bay Area, buy one. Google her and the bakery pops right up.

Today, the day we bury the honorable Congressman John Lewis, a Civil Rights Movement hero, we are reminded we are still in the throes of a global pandemic. This week we surpassed 150,000 dead Americans. That's the population of Peoria, Illinois, and more than those who died in Hiroshima from the atomic bomb. It's been hard for me to wrap my brain around it. It's unfathomable. Here, I offer encouragement and prayer for first responders, medical staff, nurses, doctors, victims and surviving families. I also have lost people to the careless indignation of our sitting white supremacist who clearly has no regard for human life. In Deuteronomy 30:19 God tells us to "choose life." No believer, IMHO, is for death, much less death on a scale matched only by Nazi Germany. Let's stand for life and life more abundant. I'm using my platform. I'm fighting for my children's grandchildren. How about you? Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I am praying for all of you from one American citizen to another and all others. I will not tire in fighting for what's right. Ever.

Yes, miracles happen today. They didn't end in the third century. God is still healing His people (that's you and me)!

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE Well, when crazy gets to be president, we get to go deeper in seeing the parallels in our childhoods. If you have an abuse history, you get to watch what your dysfunctional household was like. In this episode, we explore how the circle of denial is shrinking, the inner circle is even more committed to maintaining the façade and people are waking up. For the first time anywhere, I discuss my personal declaration of independence. Hint: It's not exactly based on the Constitution. Check it out!

People are starting to figure out there's a problem with our new President. Have you noticed? Wouldn't it have been nice to have someone notice there was something going on with us? Wouldn't it have been ideal that someone would have stood up for us and said, "Something's not right here"? It's not God who abandoned us, people did. The near-exact dynamic you are witnessing with 45 is what happened to us who were abused. No one wanted to say anything. They were intimidated into silence just like all those Republicans who privately find 45 repugnant but publicly tow the line afraid he'll attack them with a tweet. Yeah, we're finding out what happens when truth is cheap and false reports cheapen it even more.
