Pastor Scott Henry Sermons
New Series I am preaching from hand-written notes on a legal pad- hence the name of the new series ;} This is about Mark 8- and the tale of Jesus touching the blind man a 2nd time. Comments from teacher Ray VanderLaan are expanded upon to reveal some of the errors in the way we engage the Holy Text.
A Thanksgiving sermon focusing on 3 different words to express our gratitude to Almighty God during this season of thanks.
One of the last installments of the Matthew Series and the wonderful walking on water event. Jesus asked Peter: "Why did you doubt?" Doubt what? Himself (Hey-Human's can't walk on water!). Doubt Jesus? Or...? We look at some possible answers and what we can learn from that today.
Supernatural faith equals Supernatural response. God blesses those steps of faith that we take. However, at times it might scare us- what He shows us - but He is there to save us even if what scares us is what HE has shown us. Make sense? Listen.
Daymond Duck once again shares his prophetic heart with us. This is a focus on the Nation of Israel and their importance to God, His Heart, and their role in the end times picture. Pastor Scott will be back finishing up the Matthew Series next week (BTGLW- James 4:15)
Guest speaker Rev. Daymond Duck from Tennessee. He is a best selling author on Prophecy & End Times. He speaks often and is a contributor to the website Rapture Ready. He opens here our Prophecy Conference with a teaching about why it is important to study Prophecy.
The Matthew Series- Jesus walks on the water- Peter walks and sinks- and all are amazed! Much of the First (old) Testament is in this well known chapter from the story of our Lord.
Matthew Series marching on...Many times when we commit our lives to God we believe things are gonna be a lot better. In some sense they will be. However, there is this business of being broken before God, to be multiplied to the needy- that this sermon looks at.
More of the Matthew Series. If you need a "miracle" - I believe God shows us in His Holy Bible how to prepare for it. Illustrated by Elisha in the First Testament and Jesus with the Loaves and fishes in the Second Testament. Faith is the Key. Faith in God and how He operates!
More of the Matthew Series. Herod lusts & John loses his head. Jesus does the work He is so good at...multiplication...shows Himself to be the greatest (to do more with less) in the line of Prophets and so much more is HE!
More of the Matthew Series. Who says you can't go home? Jesus tried and found much greater faith almost every where else. Looking at what Jesus can do with faith-of which He found very little in Nazareth.
The Matthew Series continues...Parable of the Dragnet ("The story you are about to hear is true..." no not THAT Dragnet!) the Large Net. Jesus also asks His disciples a very important question - we should ask ourselves.
Part 5 of the Matthew Series. 2 more Parables about the Kingdom of Heaven. Then a little talk about how those relate to current events like the problems right now in Egypt where hundreds of Christians are being killed just because they are Christians.
The Matthew Series - Sermon 4-Parable of the Leaven. Jesus had a specific woman in mind when He talked about a woman who hid leaven in 3 measures of flour. She was a woman of high stature from the 1st Testament. A sermon about giving your BEST & your ALL,
The Parables from Matthew 13 - Jesus teaches us about Kingdom of Heaven (God) using the Wheat & Tares as well as the Mustard Seed. This can challenge our faith as well as encourage us in Christ.
Matthew is the most "Jewish" or "Hebrew" of the Gospel writers. In talking about the "Kingdom of God"- he uses the phrase "Kingdom of Heaven" out of respect for the Name of God. Good idea- Respect the Name. This sermon is about the practice of "Tax Farming" and its impact on a parable Jesus told.
Start of a new Series based on the Book of Matthew. What is a parable, how did Jesus use them and why would He say that to whom has more would be given-and to whoever has a little even what they have will be taken away?
How do you do ministry? What is the source of your strength? A look at how we "fuel" our ministry and (or) life in Christ.
Finale of "Lost things" Series - the Lost Son - Part 2 of 2. Looking at the Older Brother's response to the homecoming "party" the Loving Father is throwing.
Series about a Lost sheep, coin, and Son...based out of Luke 15. How does Pharaoh in Exodus figure into the story of the "Prodigal Son"? Listen and find out. Part 1 of 2 of Sermon 5.
The Lost Things Series continues with the parable of the lost coin and what it meant back then when spoken and to us today. Before we can get people "found" (saved) we have to get them "lost".
The Lost Things Series continues in Luke 15 with story of the Lost Sheep. I have always heard that if I was the ONLY sinner in the world Jesus would have died to save me alone. I praise God for that and I believe that is part of what is implied in the story.
The timeless story of Zakkai (Hebrew Name) Zacchaeus (Greek Name) and why it was so important that Jesus went to his house.
God's warnings to the Spiritual Leaders of Israel, and to their sheep as well and how that applies to the Church today. Also some concerns as of late as to the track the USA is on and the National Day of Prayer coming up.
I preached this sermon for my congregation about my mom-Betty Lou Henry the day after she died. The following Friday I preached this exact same sermon at my mom's memorial service in Tennessee.
The Story of the Resurrection. Never gets old. Here told once again, as my German friend called it many years ago when I was in the service training with the German Army...Easter = "Jesus Stood Up!"
2nd Sermon in the :Incarnation Series" started a few weeks ago. We are called to do specific things in the world as Christians. If you have asked: "What is a Christian to do?" perhaps this sermon will help. Be prepared I get a little excited in this sermon!
Close to my heart, at least annually I like to go on preaching record showing how strong of convictions I have for the Prolife cause. It has been 40 years now since the terrible Supreme Decision against pre-born life. The estimate is 50 million deaths from "choice". How horrific! God help us!
Two great folks of ours received a special award for their hard work and faithfulness to God and this local Body of Christ. I took a few moments after the special presentations and spoke about relationships and how important we are to Christ.
Learning to trust God, just as the Israelites did. They had a great fear of water in Holy Bible times. God used Moses, Joshua, Jesus to give them (and us) victory over what they feared. That same help is avaiable to us today!
The God "Box" is a sermon about how we all struggle at times in letting God out of the "box" and let Him operate in our lives. I discuss why we do it and the benefits to "releasing" God to work in our lives. I used a 8 foot refrigerator box with the word "God" on it as a prop. It starts with 2 friends bringing it into the service for me. The real "God Box" is our heart...the home of the "Holy Spirit" as believers in Christ.
The Connection Series Finale (Phew!) Step 11- Summed up by me about what Jesus said when asked which commandment was the greatest of them all: "Love God & Love People"! 4 words that should direct our Christian walk every day.
Step 10 in the Connection Series. Exploring the Connection between NOT Coveting and the Glory that belongs to God alone. The worst form of Coveting is when anyone covets God's Glory. I submit that was the original sin satan struggled with. We struggle with it too to some extent.
Step 9 in the continuing saga of the comparison (the argument I am making) that Jesus was putting the 10 commandments in prayer form as He taught His talmuds (Disciples, followers) how to pray. This deals with the bridge between No lying and Thine is the Power.
The Connection Series latest. This is Part "B" of Step 8. The Connection between: "You shall not Steal" & "Thine (Yours) is the Kingdom" and this is the 2nd part: "Yours is the Kingdom"...God wants to give you the Kingdom, you don't have to "steal" it!
The Connection Series. Step 8a. Thou shalt not steal (KJV). I talk about different ways of stealing and want us all to consider if we are doing right in different situations. The connection to the Lord's Prayer will be made next week in Step 8b- "For Thine is the Kingdom."
The Series Continues. This is Step 7 "B". Step 7 had to be divided into 2 sections. The 1st part being the 7th commandemnt- Do not commit adultery and this week bridging to the Lord's Prayer Part - "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." The problem with "tests" is that we might not pass! Also looks at the differecnce between "tests" & "trials".
The Connection Series. 2 parts for Step 7 - No Adultery & Lead us not in to temptation/Deliver us from evil. Adultery is both physical and mental as well as spiritual. Also, you can adulterate either one of two covenant relationships-God and you and if married your spouse and you.
The Connection Series latest installment, exploring the connection between the Lord's Prayer & the 10 Commandments. Step 6 on you shall not murder and forgive as you have been forgiven. Forgiveness not easy to do but neccessary for Christian growth. Also, murder is not always physically killing someone.
The Connection Series continues with the teaching of the second half of Step 5- Called 5b- The first half (5a) dealt with Honoring our parents and the second part will deal with the connection between that and "give us this day our daily bread." God's "Bread" to/for us is often way more than physical provision.
Special Speaker Rev. Mark Hoobler-Missionary to Africa preaches a powerful sermon on invoking (acting in faith) with the Power of Jesus and not our own. He was our "Faith Promise" speaker and you will enjoy him. Back to "The Connection Series" next week. BTGLW! James 4:15.
Latest sermon in The Connection Series exploring the connection between the 10 Commandments and the Lord's Prayer. Sermon 7 - Step 5 a- Step 5 will be 2 parts. This sermon deals with connection between the command "honor your father & mother" & "give us this day our daily bread."
The Connection Series continues exploring the connection between the 10 Commandments & The Lord's Prayer. This is Sermon 6-Step 4- Dealing with the 4th command Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy & "Thy Kingdom come...Thy will be done...."
Step 3 (Sermon 5) of the Connection Series. Exaiming the connection between The 10 Commandments & the Lord's Prayer. Not take Lord's Name in vain & Hallowed be Thy Name. The importance of honoring God's Name is looked at.
The Connection Series between the 10 commandments & the Lord's Prayer. This is the 4th sermon in the series and it deals with the phrase "Who art in Heaven & No graven Images". It deals with how very close God is at all times to His children.
No other gods before Me & Our Father. Sermon 3 in the "Connection" Series that explores the connection between the 10 commandments & the Lord's prayer. This is step 1 Looking at the first commandment & Our Father.
2nd sermon in the Series the Connection (between the 10 commandments & the Lord's Prayer). General overview of what it takes for success in prayer life. The Priority, Pattern, Persistance, & Power of Prayer.
The launch sermon of the New Series "The Connection". Exploring the Divine Connection between the 10 Commandments & The Lord's Prayer. I beleive the Lord's Prayer reflects the 10 Commandments in prayer form. This sermon shows how the 10 Commandments are wedding vows (such as the Jewish Wedding Ketubah) and not just a bunch of "do's & don'ts".
A sermon about how God honors our faith and then we must put it into action and of course this leads to praise to Our Heavenly Father.
Sermon #2 of the 2 part "Weight/Wait" of Glory Series. Waiting for Heaven is not always easy. What makes waiting hard and what shall we do "while we wait"?
A sermon on the "weighty" glory of the Lord and our response to it. We can reflect it or run from it. Many have tried to take it for themselves but at great cost! Sermon next week will be: "The Wait" of Glory...
