Pauly On The Pod

This episode we had a very special guest....Just kidding!!! It was just the gruesome twosome due to a guest cancellation. We talked about the new Riverside Skatepark being built down under the I95 off ramp of the Acosta Bridge, the College Park plaza development, as well as many other rad developments and happenings here in Jax. We explored our highly doubtful future as news anchors with "News w/ Idiots" and we got down and dirty with "Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes". We had a lot of fun and many laughs, as usual! So grab a beer, pack a bowl, and kick your shoes off, relax and enjoy.......Unless you're one of our sober homies, in that case skip steps 1-2 and go straight to kicking your shoes off, relaxing and enjoy!!!

Episode 56 Pauly and Doc link up with former Crown Skateboards team riders, Jayson Colón and Aaron Mullen.Mullen is a repeat guest, and we wanted him on this episode to help give some perspective, and straight up testimony on the absolute radness of Jayson's skateboarding. Jayson is originally from Puerto Rico, but he put down roots on the westside of Jacksonville, FL when his family moved here when he was ten years old.Jayson is a quiet storm and rips every terrain from the streets to the vert ramp. We were stoked as always to chop it up with two NoFla skateboarding legends. Westside Duval stand up for this one!!!

Episode 55 was one for the boizzzzz, and the books!!!We had Dave "Suede" Libhart from True East Brand, while also hosting Devon and Travis Mertiff of Ride On Concrete. We discussed skateboarding old and new, building skateparks and pools, as well as our favorite skateparks and street spots. We played "Is It A Sport", along with "Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes".  We had a gang of laughs with some of the raddest dudes spreading the concrete wave everywhere and anywhere possible!

After a long unexpected break we are back! Episode 54 we link up with local skater and hip hop artist Billy Winfield. Billy skates street and park, he grew up a Kona local. The past few years he's been making a name for himself in the music scene. His music is raw, dark, and real as shit! We talk everything from skateboarding, to music, to life in general.We also discuss Bam Margera's recent "beef" with the rest of his former Jaskass crew, and run a "Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes" segment.Stoked to be back on the grind! Enjoy the radness!

This week we recorded another episode at KONA Skatepark, with one of the raddest dudes, Rick Andrade of Legacy Skateboards. We talked everything from his early days in his hometown in Texas, where he started skating. His time in the military, the Legacy days, his current daily life being a father and a husband, and much, much more!!! This episode is filled with a ton of funny moments and rad stories. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!!!

Episode 52 I sat down with the homie Trevor Brice. We talked everything from his roots surfing and skating at the beaches, to contests and much, much more.Trevor shreds any concrete or ramp his wheels touch!One of the raddest dudes, and we've been fortunate to witness his growth, both on and off the board, first hand.Big love on this episode!!!

Episode 50 we sit down with the man that shaped Pauly into the man he is today. The one and only, Pop. Pop grew up in an Italian American household in South Florida.His adolescence was filled with fun. Like playing team sports, boating with family, biking, surfing, snorkeling/diving, etc......you know, the basic Florida life. But with an Italian American twist on it. He tells us tales of childhood adventures and life growing up in the 60's & 70's, as well as many stories where the parallels between father and son are impossible to miss. The love is big on this episode!We hope you enjoy!

Episode 49 we sit down with Jesse Ferrell of Upland Clothing. Jesse is a Jacksonville native that grew up all across town, from the beaches to Callahan. Jesse grew up street skating with big dreams and ambitions of owning his own clothing company. In true skater fashion, Jesse put in the work and created his brand, starting off by screen printing all his original designs. Fast forward some years later, Jesse's brand, Upland Clothing, is killing it!!! We discuss how he got into skateboarding, his dream of starting a brand, his New York pop-up stores & adventures, and so much more!!!Doc is fresh out of hip replacement surgery and loving the pain meds....enjoy the laughs!!! 

Episode 48 we sit down with the one and only Tim Johnson. Tim is originally from St. Marys, GA, which is a stones throw from Jacksonville, FL. Tim is an east coast legend, true southern man, and an absolute monster on a skateboard. A true ATV, that'll destroy anything in his path.Nowadays Tim's pretty busy being in Dad/Husband mode, so we are hella stoked and very appreciative he could sit down with us for a part-1, of a 2-3 part story telling.

Episode 47 is just the Doc and Pauly. The boys discuss the Jaguars season  and playoff loss. They also talk about the tragic murder of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the Memphis Police Department. And the fellas conclude the episode discussing and critqing recent shows and movies they have recently watched.

Kicking off our first episode of 2023 with a banger!!!None other than the O.G. Ron Allen!!! Ron is credited as being the first African American professional street skateboarder, breaking through social barriers and racial stereotypes, paving the way for so many generations.Ron was in town thanks to John Norris and Adirolf Skateboarding, speaking to kids at the local schools to motivate and inspire the next generation with stories of Ron's tribulations and triumphs in life. Ron is 100% skateboarder through and through, and one of the raddest human beings we've ever met! 

This week on Pauly On The Pod we have our "Thanksgiving Special" episode, which we recorded two days after Thanksgiving in true POTP fashion(better late than never). We  started off the day with a skate sesh at the POTP HQ. Pauly was joined by the homies John Norris of Adirolf Skateboarding and Joey Diaz, while the Docta heckled of course. Those three got a solid session on the quarter and flat bar before we sat down for a chat. And as expected madness and hilariousness ensued for the entirety of the episode. On this episode of POTP we have Jax transplant, Virginia Beach native, Julian Etheridge. Julian is a professional skateboarder who has ridden for many different companies over the years. We discussed his early years in skateboarding, and growing up in VA Beach. His experiences and time competing on the Mountain Dew "dew tour". For 43 we had local North Florida legend Carl Naegele. You may have heard once upon a time there being this massive skate-haven nestled under the trees, tucked away, amongst the palmettos and southern pine trees. A true Hessian Haven, just a stones throw from the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, FL. Well, Carl Naegele is the man that owns that legendary property, and although the ramps have rotted away. Carl salvaged everything he could, grabbed materials from Rick Morgan when he had to tear down his ramps, and now has a clear path to set the final phase of skate madness on a property that has been in his family for years.We discuss his skateboarding roots, play "News With Idiots", and had an overall rad conversation. We enjoyed it, we hope you do too!  

On this exciting episode we break out of our normal format of interviewing and talking skateboarding to "shoot the shit" with Mrs. Walnuts. We try out two new segments and explore other topics and interests outside our comfort zone to hopefully showcase the true nature of our goofy ass personalties. This episode was a ton of fun and it's filled with "Tom Foolery" & "Shenanigans".We untucked our shirts, loosened our ties, and let our hair down for this one..... we recommend you do the same!All aboard the crazy train!Enjoy!

Episode 41 we have another super rad guest, Paul "Toothless" Vaughn. Paul is known throughout the south for his skateboarding, surfing, ramp building and his dedication to all three for the past 35 years. Paul is a true "Florida Man" through and through, rad in every sense of the word. We are stoked for this episode, we hope you are too!We were pleased to be joined by the one and only Mrs. Walnuts as well to assist in the coproduction of the episode. 

What can we say about Drew, that we haven't already said about legends like Christian Fletcher or Mike Frazier..... not much. In other words Drew is one RADICAL dude!!!Drew is a local Florida boy, growing up on the west coast of Florida where he gained his sea legs surfing the gulf. And grew skateboarding with Florida legends like Frazier & Jimmy The Greek. Hell, the man has even been known to slap some trucks on a surfboard and rip skateparks on it like it was standard popsicle shape, such as the New Smyrna Beach bowl and Kona Skatepark. We here at Pauly On The Pod hope everyone enjoys this episode as much as we did!

For Episode 37 Pauly Walnuts, Docta Jones, and Joey "Jalapeño" Diaz sit down with special guest Ryan King. Ryan is a local film maker, former team manager of FlatLine Skateboards as well as former team manager for SquareOne Skate Shop. We discuss his days with sq.one, which led him into his marketing job with RedBull.Then we recap his days with FlatLine, discuss their heavy influence on Florida and east coast skateboarding, and how that led him to marketing for RedBull.We also discuss a very heavy topic which is the disease that his son Sturgill is diagnosed with.Juvenile Dermatomyositis.We discuss the parallels between what Ryan's son has experienced, what Ryan went through to crowd fund for treatment, and what Docta Jones is currently experiencing on his journey to finally get the surgery he so desperately needs.It was another super fun episode and we look forward to having Ryan back on in the future!Peace, Love, & Skateboarding 

Episode 36 Pauly, Doc, and Joey sit down with Jacksonville legend Beau Crum to discuss his life in skateboarding. For episode 31, Doc and I link up with St. Augustine local Nick Day, as well as touring stand up comedian and skateboarder Taylor Clark. Taylor was in town for a show at Neon Moon in Jacksonville and we were stoked he was able to join us before the show to talk jokes, traveling, life, and of course SKATEBOARDING! Taylor has had viral success on social media with his witty jokes about skateboarding and a skaters lifestyle, earning him a feature in Thrasher Magazine. Stoked to be back!!!The boyz and I heard about a youth skate contest series in North Florida so you know we had to show up, to show love and support! Doc, Joey, and myself link up with longtime homie Chris Taylor from StillDownCo. Local OG, BCskater. And the man organizing the event, John Norris.  We saw many friends and had a blast, enjoy the shenanigans!!!

A few weeks back I got to chop it up with West Philly rapper BLAK. BLAK is signed to DeadWrong Records and has an explosive track, "Bodies On The Ground", which is the 11th track on a stacked artist compilation album dropped by the label in December of 2020. BLAK and the entire DeadWrong crew, led by King Shampz and Azaan, bring the essence of east coast street rap back.  BLAK and DeadWrong have a lot in the works so keep an ear out for more music sure to drop very soon!

We are back!!! For this 4/20 special I link up with longtime homies Bird and Doc Jones to skate, chop it up, and burn down. After a couple month break from podcasting its great to be back. Happy 4/20 everyone.

Episode 27 I link up via phone with an old skate buddy from high school, Gus Cooper. Gus has been out in L.A. making independent films, commercials, and a whole lot more. He recently filmed the new Primitive skateboards commercial and has started a hot sauce brand from the peppers he grows in his garden. Gus is a hella rad guy, rips on a skateboard and I'm stoked I got the chance to chat with him for an episode.

My buddy Kris Jones and I head up to St. Marys GA to link up with StillDownCo Chris Taylor, and Kevin Radcliff. We skated Hotel Nahunta then sat down to talk skateboarding, StillDownCo, and traded stories of our lives in skateboarding.

I venture down to Holopaw Florida (which is literally in the middle of nowhere Florida) to hang out with professional vert skater Rodney Mead. Coastal Ramp Design has been busting ass to rehab his vert ramp, and while I was down there I was stoked to work and hang with both Rodney, as well as an OG Daytona local and early days Team Pain member, Gnarly Charlie. We talk FLA skateboarding over the decades, traveling, Rodneys competitive career, drugs, sex, rock & roll, and a shit load more. FLA skateboarding at its best in Episode-25!

Episode 24 I sit down with my longtime friend Dustin Mitchell. We lost touch for a couple years but I'm stoked we've been able to reconnect. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we have had to reschedule and cancel many guests. But like the rest of the world we are adapting. I catch up with The Black Toilet who is living up in Ohio to discuss music and the pandemic. I discuss the Jaguars off season acquisitions with Rooks. Finally I talk with my paisan, Mikey Flowers, who is back up in New Jersey and has been on serious lock-down for several weeks due to the massive amount of COVID-19 cases and deaths, in the New York/New Jersey area.

I sit down with local skateboarder, craftsman, and DIY skate spot creator Willy Beeman, to talk skateboarding, Jacksonville, and his many projects. I also catch up with Squirell for the March P.O.S. Update, I sit down with my friend Gabe to talk about the city and some current events, and finally I wrap things up talking movies and Netflix series with Josmarie. This is the Season 1 finale, New season dropping the first week of April.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with an extremely talented artist and muralist, Nico. We discuss everything from art, to surfing and skating, as well as her nonprofit "The Kids Mural Project" and so much more! She is a huge inspiration to myself and countless others. You definitely don't want to sleep on this episode, or her work!!!
