The Gottman Institute has been studying couples for decades. They are one of the only empirically backed institutes that has such long term studies on couples. They've pretty much cracked the code on what actually makes a couple stay together or get divorced. Pretty amazing work they've done. The basis to the Gottmans work is something called The Four Horsemen. Four communication styles that are proven to create major foundational cracks in your relationship if done consistently. They are: Criticism, Contempt, Defensiveness, and Stonewalling. I dive deep into explaining each one and what they look like within an argument. This is an important episode if you're trying to work on your relationship or prevent future issues. If you liked my style and are thinking about therapy I'm currently taking client! Okay, while this might sound funny or adorable excuses are just fear dressed up in a cuter outfit, legitimately. If we see it like this it makes it a whole lot easier to understand. Whether you're giving excuses to others or to yourself or both (usually) you're not alone. In this episode, I dive into how to call out your excuses and tackle the fear that's beneath them. Awards season has just wrapped up and it got me thinking about who really wins in art? All artists are hoping they'll be acknowledged for their work. However, not everyone can win. Some of the best artists never “make it”. Does that mean they weren't good enough? I don't think so. In this week's episode, I talk about making art for art's sake and not for the validation of others. When you're creative you have to create. But so many artists are trying to make art or book shows and aren't getting acknowledged for it. The urge to quit is powerful as others tell you to get a "real job". But, I have a way to do both. Winning an award doesn't make you a better artist. You make you a better artist. Whether you win awards or book the big jobs doesn't matter. All that truly matters is that you've given it your all and continue to make your art. That is truly winning. Congratulations to all the artists who make their art in any way they can. The word trigger has become triggering to so many people. But, whether the word triggers you or not it's still an emotional reaction that happens to all of us. Whether you're on the receiving end or causing it it's just uncomfortable. With so much happening in the world lately, it's easy to be triggered. But, what happens when it's you that's triggering others? I dive into what that could mean on the good end of the spectrum. Hint, it could mean you're letting go of people pleasing and finally shining your big, bright, authentic light and THAT might be triggering to people who want to keep you in their little box. For those of you working (or rather not working right now) in the entertainment industry you're well aware of what's going on with streaming services, old conglomerates and the thousands of people who have been out of work, losing their houses, moving to other states and radically changing their once steady work lives because of the drastic loss of jobs in the last 2-4 years. California, once the hub of entertainment is now a ghost town with major studios empty and selling off parts of their lots and cast and crew members desperate for work. This might all come as a shock to people outside of the industry. I've heard countless people say, "But, tons of shows and movies are coming out. I thought after the strike was over everything was okay again?"Wrong. It's worse than ever. That's where Producer Patrick comes in...Producer Patrick Caligiuri is an accomplished, award-winning unscripted television producer with over 20 years of experience in developing and delivering compelling content such as: Fight to Survive on Roku and The Quest on Disney+, The Amazing Race, Big Brother, Naked & Afraid, and American Idol.I've been looking to @producer.patrick on Instagram as a guiding light during these dark days, as have thousands of other TV and film members. This week I talk all about the stories we tell ourselves. The stories we tell ourselves have so much to do with what we will and won't accomplish in our lives it's a little bit scary. Because our brains believe what we tell them and because our brains are built to only survive our stories that originated in trauma only provide us with the safety of the story we have lived so long by. But, when we want to break free from the cage of our own making it can be really hard too and you'd better believe your brain is going to give you some really convincing reasons to stay put... you know, to survive like the wild animal you aren't. Dating Coach Irena Polyakova is here to talk to us all about doing the inner work on yourself before flinging yourself back out into the dating world, yet again. So many people these days are saying they'd rather stay single than find a relationship or deal with the misery of dating. While dating can be hard and most of the time it feels like it'll never be over, if you approach dating before hand and do some... work on yourself... it can make the process of dating easier, faster and dare I say... enjoyable? Who doesn't want to find the love of their life?Find Us:https://lovedandfulfilled.com/https://loveyouevenmore.com/https://www.jackiebrubaker.com/Support the show
