Tonight is the night of Badr.On this night, 1,443 years ago, 313 Muslim men camped on the plains of Badr — underprepared, outnumbered more than three to one — on the eve of a battle that would determine whether Islam survived or was extinguished. There is no tafseer of Surah Al-A'raf tonight. Tonight belongs to Badr. How They Got ThereThe Muslims left Madinah on the 12th of Ramadan. The mission was straightforward: intercept Abu Sufyan's caravan returning from Syria — the largest trading caravan the Quraysh had ever assembled, loaded with profits from goods financed largely by wealth confiscated from the Muslims at the time of Hijrah. Not a battle. An interception. But Abu Sufyan's scouts were sharp. One of the Bedouin trackers found camel droppings along the route, opened them, and recognised the date pits inside as coming from the farms of Madinah. The Muslims were tracking them. Abu Sufyan immediately rerouted and sent the fastest rider in his group back to Makkah — the rider sliced the nose of his camel and smeared the blood on himself to arrive with maximum drama, ensuring the message landed with urgency.Abu Jahl raised 1,300 men. Not to protect the caravan — the caravan had already escaped. This was about something else now. We are going to crush Islam and the Muslims once and for all.By the time 300 of that army turned back — satisfied that their property was safe — 1,000 Quraysh warriors were marching toward Badr with that single purpose. The Muslims, meanwhile, had 313 men. Two horses. Seventy camels. And eight swords. They had not come prepared for battle. They had expected a small caravan escort — ten, twenty, thirty men at most. They found an army. And they did not turn back. The Leadership of the Prophet ﷺWhen the Prophet ﷺ chose a campsite on the plains of Badr, a companion — al-Hubab ibn al-Mundhir — approached him and asked a remarkable question: Ya Rasulullah, is this position based on revelation from Allah, or is this your personal judgement? The Prophet ﷺ said: personal judgement.Al-Hubab said: in that case, may I suggest we move further forward — to the wells of Badr — so that we control the Quraysh's access to water? The Prophet ﷺ accepted. He moved the entire army. This is a man who could have said: I am the Prophet of Allah, my opinion is final. He said nothing of the sort. He distinguished clearly between what came from Allah and what came from his own thinking. And when a companion had a better idea, he took it.A leader who cannot be corrected is a leader who will eventually fail. The Prophet ﷺ modelled the opposite: you are not any stronger than me, and I am not any less in need of the reward from Allah. When they shared rides on the 160-kilometre journey — three men, including the Prophet ﷺ, rotating on one camel — his companions begged him to ride the whole way. He refused. He walked his share. The Night BeforeThat night, with a thousand armed men across the plain, Allah gave the Muslims a gift: sleep.Anyone who has had a major exam, a difficult interview, a high-stakes day ahead knows what that night feels like. You lie awake. The mind races. The Muslims knew what was coming — and they slept.Allah also sent light rain on the Muslim side. The ground compacted. The march in the morning would be firm underfoot. On the Quraysh side, Allah sent heavy rain. Sleepless. Muddy ground. No access to water. Before a single sword was raised, the advantage had already shifted. The Prophet ﷺ spent much of that night in dua — arms raised so intensely that his shawl fell to the ground. Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, waking before Fajr, wrapped it back around his shoulders and stood listening. Among the duas the Prophet ﷺ made that night: Ya Allah, if You destroy this group, You will never be worshipped on this earth again. These were the best of the Muslim men. Most of them. If they fell here, there would be no rebuilding. The dhikr of Badr — the one the Prophet ﷺ repeated through that night and into the battle — was Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum. The Ever-Living. The Ever-Sustaining. The One who holds everything in existence. Repeat this in your own difficult nights.Islam Is a Salad BowlWhen the Prophet ﷺ organised his army on the morning of battle, he divided them into three groups: the Muhajirin on the right, led by Sayyidina Ali; the Ansar on the left, led by Sayyidina Sa'd ibn Mu'adh; and a mixed group at the centre, where the Prophet ﷺ stood himself, with the banner held by Mus'ab ibn Umayr — the first companion to migrate to Madinah, the man through whose teaching most of the Ansar had embraced Islam. Why keep them separate? Why not one unified mass?Because Islam does not erase identity. It never has. The Muhajirin were Meccan. The Ansar were Medinan. Different dialects, different traditions, different cultures — and at this point in history, genuinely different peoples. Islam acknowledged that difference and worked with it. Each group fought with the strength that came from who they were.Islam is not a melting pot. It is a salad bowl. A tomato remains a tomato. A cucumber remains a cucumber. Mixed together, each contributing what it is — they serve something greater than any one of them alone.Keep your cultural identity. Be proud of who Allah made you. Learn your mother tongue. And be equally proud to be Muslim — guided by Islamic principles, united by La ilaha illallah Muhammadur Rasulullah, with Arabic as the thread that connects the entire ummah across every language and culture.Help Comes in Ways You Cannot SeeWhen the battle began, most of the Muslims did not know they were being assisted by angels. They raised their weapons and fought with everything they had. Some were injured. Some were martyred. They had to show up. They had to put in the effort. The help came — but it came to those who were already in the field.Jibreel came wearing a yellow turban, marked like Mus'ab ibn Umayr. A thousand angels — one for every Quraysh soldier — came wearing white, on white horses. The Quraysh saw them coming from across the plain. They did not know what they were seeing. And then Iblis — who had marched alongside the Quraysh in the guise of Suraqah ibn Malik, who had promised them safety, who had said I am with you, no one can defeat you today — Iblis was the first to see the angels. He turned and fled.I see what you do not see. I am afraid of Allah. The Quraysh: You were the one who convinced us to come! You were the one who promised us victory!Iblis said nothing more. He left. This is who Iblis is. He is there when things are going well. The moment the cost becomes real, he disappears. The friends you make in sin will not be there when the consequences arrive.Abdullah ibn Mas'ud — a man so small he stood barely above a metre — captured Sayyidina Abbas, the Prophet's uncle, a giant of a man with a voice that could carry across a battlefield. Abbas was humiliated. He told everyone who saw him: it wasn't this small man — there was someone bigger, someone else who took me down. When Abdullah ibn Mas'ud brought Abbas to the Prophet ﷺ, the Prophet ﷺ confirmed: it was not you, Abdullah. You were assisted by an angel.Do not be arrogant with your success. You put in the effort. But the victory was never yours alone to claim. The Secret of Badr — And of RamadanThe Quran tells us the secret of Badr in Surah Ali Imran in two words: sabr and taqwa.Sabr is steadfastness — continuing on the right path regardless of how difficult it becomes. Taqwa is your living connection with Allah.Ramadan trains both. Every day of fasting hones sabr — the steadfastness to stay on the right path regardless of hunger and exhaustion. Every night of prayer and Quran builds taqwa — the connection with Allah that carries you through what the day alone cannot prepare you for.The Prophet ﷺ won his greatest military victory in Ramadan — on the 17th, on the plains of Badr. His greatest political victory, the Conquest of Makkah, was also in Ramadan. Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas defeated the Persian Sassanid Empire at the Battle of Qadisiyyah in Ramadan. Amr ibn al-As conquered Egypt in Ramadan. The pattern is not coincidence. It is a formula.Fast your days. Pray your nights. And trust that when you show up on the field with whatever weapons you have, Allah will send what you cannot seeBadr Wallpaper for smartphonesBadr Wallpaper for tablets.Badr wallpaper for computersAfter Witr tonight insha'Allah — Salawat Badriyya.Following along with the series? Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,The Companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (the Sahabah) are the best generation of this Ummah. Allah praised them in the Qur'an, and the Prophet ﷺ affirmed their excellence in many authentic hadith. Love for them is part of faith, while hatred towards them is hypocrisy. In this post, we will explore Quranic verses and authentic narrations highlighting their rank and why they remain role models for all Muslims.Allah the Most High declared His pleasure with the earliest Muslims who sacrificed everything for His cause:“And the first forerunners among the Muhajirun and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct – Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him.” (Qur'an 9:100, Quran.com)This verse establishes their lofty status and guarantees Allah's pleasure for the sincere followers of their path.Similarly, Allah commands the later generations of believers:“And those who came after them say: Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith, and put not in our hearts any resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.” (Qur'an 59:10, Quran.com)The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ explicitly confirmed the superiority of his Companions:“The best of my nation is my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 3650, Sahih Muslim 2533, Sunnah.com)This hadith establishes that the Sahabah are the best of people after the Prophets. Following their way is guidance, while opposing them is misguidance. It was reported that Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked: “Who are the best people after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?” He replied: “Abu Bakr.” They asked: “Then who?” He said: “Umar.” They asked: “Then who?” He said: “Uthman.” When asked about himself, he said: “I am only a man among the Muslims.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 3671, Sunnah.com)Furthermore, Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) said: “During the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ, we used to consider the best of people to be Abu Bakr, then Umar, then Uthman.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 3697, Sunnah.com)The Prophet ﷺ gave glad tidings of Jannah to ten companions by name:“Abu Bakr is in Paradise, Umar is in Paradise, Uthman is in Paradise, Ali is in Paradise, Talhah is in Paradise, al-Zubayr ibn al-‘Awwam is in Paradise, Abdur Rahman ibn Awf is in Paradise, Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas is in Paradise, Sa'id ibn Zayd is in Paradise, and Abu ‘Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah is in Paradise.” (Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 3747, Sunnah.com)This authentic narration highlights their guaranteed success with Allah's mercy. The Prophet ﷺ warned against belittling or insulting the Sahabah:“Do not revile my Companions, for if one of you were to spend gold equal to Mount Uhud, it would not equal a handful of what they spent, nor even half of it.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 3673, Sahih Muslim 2540, Sunnah.com)This hadith affirms their incomparable rank. The Prophet ﷺ advised the Ummah to stick to the guidance of the rightly guided Caliphs:Narrated Al-'Irbad bin Sariyah: "One day after the morning Salat, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) exhorted us to the extent that the eyes wept and the hearts shuddered with fear. A man said: 'Indeed this is a farewell exhortation. [So what] do you order us O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'I order you to have Taqwa of Allah, and to listen and obey, even in the case of an Ethiopian slave. Indeed, whomever among you lives, he will see much difference. Beware of the newly invented matters, for indeed they are astray. Whoever among you sees that, then he must stick to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided Khulafa', cling to it with the molars.'"Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2676https://sunnah.com/tirmidhi:2676The Sahabah were the best of this Ummah, chosen by Allah to support His Messenger ﷺ. As seekers of knowledge, we must honor their legacy, study their lives, and follow their path sincerely, as Allah and His Messenger have commanded.
For years, the Prophet ﷺ and his companions endured harm, exile, and oppression in silence. They were commanded to forgive and turn away, waiting for Allah's command. That command finally came. This episode takes you through the moment when Allah permitted the Muslims to defend themselves. Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan explains how the first expeditions unfolded, the wisdom behind their timing, and the powerful lessons they carry for us today. In this episode of the Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, you'll learn about: - The Qur'anic permission to defend and its context. - Hamza ibn Abdul Muttalib's رضي الله عنه first expedition and its purpose. - How Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas رضي الله عنه shot the first arrow in Islam. - Why sins lead to humiliation and how obedience brings victory. The story is not just about battles. It's about patience, faith, and what happens when believers uphold or abandon Allah's commands. Watch to uncover how these events shaped the path to Badr and beyond. Insights into Islamic Figures / SAAD IBN ABI_WAQQAS
Abdullah Ibn Masood (ra) - Session 90 The Son of The Mother of The Servant The Jurist of This Ummah The Master of The Secrets Saad ibn Abi Waqqas (ra) is appointed as governor of Koofah for 1 yaer till 25AH. Abdullah Ibn Massod provides a loan to Saad (raa) A few anecdotes regarding the supplications of Saad (ra).
May we receive mercy from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala and also receive guidance to gather sufficient supplies so that we are safe and comfortable in Mahsyar facing Allah SWT being entered into heaven by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala without reckoning and also punishment. Surahs mentioned : - Surah al Maidah 5, verse 67 : [ Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala will certainly protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala does not guide the people who disbelieve. ] - Surah al Hajj 22, verse 39 : [ Permission to fight back is hereby granted to those being fought, for they have been wronged. And Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala is truly Most Capable of helping them prevail. ] - Surah Al Anfal 8, verse 5 - 6 : [ Similarly, when your Lord brought you (O Prophet) out of your home for a just cause, a group of believers was totally against it. They disputed with you about the truth after it had been made clear, as if they were being driven to death with their eyes wide open. ] - Surah Al Anfal 8, verse 11 : [ (Remember) when He caused drowsiness to overcome you, giving you serenity. And He sent down rain from the sky to purify you, free you from Satan's whispers, strengthen your hearts, and make your steps firm. ] - Surah Al Anfal 8, verse 47 : [ Do not be like those who left their homes boastfully and to be seen of men, and hinder (men) from the path of Allah. ] - Surah Al Anfal 8, verse 48 : [ And remember when Satan made their evil deeds appealing to them, and said, “No one can overcome you today. I am surely by your side.” But when the two forces faced off, he cowered and said, “I have absolutely nothing to do with you. I certainly see what you do not see. I truly fear Allah, for Allah is severe in punishment.” ] Hadiths mentioned : - In Sahih Hadith (Al Anbani), Sunan Abi Dawud 3004 : Book 20, Hadith 77 (which is a long hadith but I'll just take a snippet of it and the rest, you guys can either look it up online or I may just put it up in the description box, insya allah). Narrated by a man from the companions of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam: AbdurRahman ibn Ka'b ibn Malik reported on the authority of a man from among the companions of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam : The infidels of the Quraysh wrote (a letter) to Ibn Ubayy and to those who worshipped idols from al-Aws and al-Khazraj, while the Messenger of Allah Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam was at that time at Madinah before the battle of Badr. (They wrote): You gave protection to our companion. We swear by Allah, you should fight him or expel him, or we shall come to you in full force, until we kill your fighters and appropriate your women. - Sahih Hadith (Darussalam) by Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3756 : Book 49, Hadith 153 (27)Chapter: The Virtues Of Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas, May Allah Be Pleased With Him, And The Name Of Abi Waqqas Is Malik Bin Wuhaib Narrated by 'Aishah RadhiAllahu anha: "The Messenger of Allah Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam did not sleep one night upon arriving in Al-Madinah. So our Prophet said: 'If only a righteous man would guard me tonight.'" She said: "So we were like that, when we heard the clanging of weapons. He said: 'Who is that?' So the man said: 'Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas.' So the Messenger of Allah Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam said: 'What has brought you here?' Sa'd said: 'Fear for the Messenger of Allah Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam came upon me, so I came to protect him.' So the Messenger of Allah Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam supplicated for him, then slept." - Sahih al-Bukhari 4609 : Book 65, Hadith 131, narrated by `Abdullah (ibn Masud): [ On the day of Badr, Al-Miqdad said, "O Allah's Messenger Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam! We do not say to you as the children of Israel said to Moses Alaihissalam, 'Go you and your Lord and fight you two; we are sitting here, but (we say). "Proceed, and we are with you." That seemed to delight Allah's Messenger Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam greatly. ]

The maternal uncle of the Messenger ﷺ, The Knight of Islam, the full brother of the martyred Badri Umayr (ra), the one for whom countless sacred verses were revealed, the one who saw Jibreel & Meekael (as) on the Day of Uhud, the one who fired no less than 1,000 arrows on the Day of Uhud, the Pure man, a Siddeeq, Conqueror of Persia, the founder of Koofah, the one who led the miraculous crossing over the river, the very last 1 of the 10 elite souls who were promised paradise during their very lifetimes.

The one buried within the precincts of Al Aqsa, Shadad ibn Aus (ra), relates the the Prophet ﷺ said, I fear for my nation Riyya ‘Ostentation' and hidden desires. The Golden Chain… Abdullah ibn Ahmad (rah) relates from his father Imam Ahmed (rah) relates from Ismael ibn Aaliyah (rah) relates from Ayub Sakhiyinaee who relates from Muhammad Ibn Sireen…. Sa'ad ibn Abi Waqqas (ra), The Knight of Islam Session 59 The simple matter regarding the Sahaba in 3 Quranic verses, two levels are complete; Mohajiroon and the Ansaar, leaving one - those who follow them and pray for them. We are commanded to pray for the sahaba (due to the civil wars), yet some curse them.
Sa'ad ibn Abi Waqqas (ra), The Knight of Islam Session 58 The supplications of Saad (ra). Saad (ra) hears someone reviling Alee, Zubair & Talha (ra) and says, if you desist not I will curse you; the man continued, so he was taught an invaluable lesson that day. A heated discussion between Saad & Abdullah ibn Masood (ra) regarding a loan. The awe Syed Ibn Musayab (rah) had for Saad (ra)
Sa'ad ibn Abi Waqqas (ra), The Knight of Islam Session 57 The supplications of Saad (ra). A woman who constantly peered into the house of Saad (ra) was repeatedly rebuked for her action, again she peered inside and Saad (ra) in anger said, May your face be disfigured; her neck and face turned backwards. A diseased man lives for another 20 years due to a supplication from Saad (ra). The lash of Umar (ra) is placed in the hands of Saad (ra) to soften Saad's (ra) heart. Umar's (ra) fear of The Wrath of His Lord that makes him both soft & stern.
Sa'ad ibn Abi Waqqas (ra), The Knight of Islam Session 56 'When Saad (ra) states something, do not object' Umar (ra). Saad (ra) wipes over his leather socks... to the dismay of his companion. The Prayer within The Belly of The Fish, the excellence of reciting it. Recite Surah Ikhlas during death pangs and you can cross the Bridge of Siraat on the palm on an angel.
