Abdurrahman b. Avf (r.a.)'in kerem sahibi ve cömertliği öylesine yaygındı ki zenginleri de kapsamına alırdı. İbn Abbas (r.a.) rivayet ediyor ki, Abdurrahman b. Avf (r.a.) bir keresinde hastalanmıştı. Osman (r.a.) şöyle cevap verdi: “Bu bir kulun dostluk gereği verdiği bir şeydir, sadaka değildir.” Abdurrahman b. Avf (r.a.)'in dağıttığı miktar 150.000 dinar'a ulaşmıştı.

The value of time in the process of preparing for Hajj - Abdurrahman Hunter by Radio Islam
Rivayet olunduğuna göre Abdurrahman b. Avf (r.a.)'a ait bir ticaret kervanı Şam'dan dönüyordu. Kafile Medine-i Münevvere'nin caddelerine ulaştığı zaman çarşıda bir kımıldama ve hareketlilik meydana geldi. Durumdan haberdar olan Hz. Âişe (r.anhâ) bunun ne olduğunu sorunca kendisine: “Abdurrahman b. Avf (r.a.)'in ticaret kervanının geldiğini” söylediler. Hz. Hz. Âişe (r.anhâ)'ya: “Kafilenin 700 hayvan yükünden oluştuğu” söylendiği zaman Hz. Âişe (r.anhâ): “Hz. Peygamberin hakkında cennete malının hesabı dolayısıyla emekleyerek gireceğini haber verdiği Abdurrahman b. Avf (r.a.)'in 700 yükten oluşan kafilesi ha?” dedi. Avf (r.a.)'in çoluk çocuğu gibidir. Its wide range leaves uncovered hardly any area of worldly and otherworldly concern, and a complete reading might well put before Allah just about everything one would need in both this life and the next. This work's acceptance is plainly visible in the multitudes of devotees who recite it regularly around the world. A lot of attention has been paid to it, from commentaries and translations to abridgements and rearrangements. Though a number of illuminated copies exist in manuscript, no illuminated edition had become available in print. White Thread Press published an illuminated Arabic edition in 2015. For an important book of prayers such as this, illumination provides an aesthetic touch that pleases the eye and enhances the reader's spiritual engagement with the text. The English Translation Since the publication of the original Arabic edition, public recitals (maqra'as) of the entire collection in a single sitting have been held in various cities around the world. These are usually followed by an authorisation ceremony for the attendees. It has inspired many people to become regular readers of the book. As readers have discovered the merits of this comprehensive litany, the demand had grown for an English translation to fully appreciate and understand the prayers. Therefore, White Thread Press now presents the collection in a bilingual edition, with the Arabic text and facing English translation in an easy to read and visually appealing format.
Neyse.

Episode 72. After two-and-a-half years of consistent podcast production, I am taking a short break. To ensure you have something to listen to, I am re-releasing episodes. You are also welcome to look through the back catalogue and listen to other episodes you might have missed. Thanks as always for your interest and support. Today's re-release is episode 53, featuring Abdur-Rahman Syed. Abdur-Rahman, a Muslim raised in Karachi Pakistan, he currently lives in three countries, carrying the richness of his interreligious extended family and early experience of adjusting to various cultural environments. Fortified by these formative years and his years in marketing, Abdur-Rahman is creating a book called Prophetic Persuasion. Using words of four prophets from the Abrahamic faiths, he stresses the value of common messages through which people can influence others and establish a moral compass. In conversation, we explore the challenges of bringing such sources into the workplace and how to balance uniqueness of vision and need to find common ground among other things. A note from my guest, Abdur-Rahman: “Meli and I approached our conversation with caution given the backdrop of the escalating Israel-Palestine war. I fear I was too cautious in distancing myself from the conflict. While some things are complex, others are simple. We must continue to seek dialogue while also speaking for justice and for peace.”Highlights:· Prophetic Persuasion elements derived from biblical and Quranic prophets: Moses, Jesus, Joseph, and Mohammed· Framework: listen, give, connect, imagine, invite, love. · Enriching lives and providing a moral compass in the business world · Challenges of discussing faith in the workplace· Business application of the ‘Listen before you speak' principle.· Risk of selectively interpreting scriptures and traditions· Different interpretations based on proximity to the sourceSocial Media links for Abdur-Rahman Syed:LinkedIn – https://www.linkedin.com/in/abdurrahmansyedWebsite – www.propheticpersuasion.orgSocial Media links for Méli:Talking with God Project LinkedIn – Meli SolomonFacebook – Meli Solomon Transcript: Follow the podcast! The Living Our Beliefs podcast offers a place to learn about other religions and faith practices. Have an Atheist Experience today as Secular Rarity (SR) and Armin Navabi, sort through questions of “creation”, differences in Quran scriptures, and ponder the unfalsifiable simulation claim. Jasmine, a theist in Ohio, says that all of existence including us, is part of god and that everything is created through god. How can everything be created through god and be god at the same time? How can something that does not make sense be convincing? Is there a way you can build a claim without using language that is so vague? Rick, a theist in TX, asks how atheists explain the creation of the universe and the world. There are people dedicated their lives studying how this happened and their explanation does not include a deity. The framing of this question assumes there is a creation and that we as atheists have an answer. Why do atheists need to come up with an explanation when we are not making any claims? Even if things did have a beginning, does not make it true there was a creation. We do not have to have any justification for not believing something. Why do you think the scriptures such as the Bible or Quran will have any validity with atheists? If you were to be shown something that shows how the universe got here, and that does not include a god, how would that change your beliefs and certainty there is a god? If justifiable evidence were to be provided for the existence of god, we would believe, however, worshiping that god will be a another story. Armin and SR have a different opinion on this. Abdur Rahman, a Muslim in NY, has laid out three criteria: logical theological framework, preservation of the original text of the Quran, and miracles. There is a ton of evidence showing the Quran has not been preserved perfectly. How do we explain the different versions of the Quran that actually differ in the commandments of Allah? If there were Quranic verses in two separate versions that were so radically different that it changes the commands of Allah and can't be harmonized, would that make you no longer accept that the Quran is perfectly preserved? Why do we need the opinions of the scholars to make this harmonious? How do you explain these differences without changing the commandment of Allah and committing a sin? Steve in NE wants to talk about the collapse of the wave function, how things will exist in the fuzzy quantum state until they are observed, and the Second Law of Infodynamics which requires information entropy to remain constant or decrease overtime. He wonders if these things are indicators of a simulation program. How are you connecting these things? It doesn't really matter if we are in a simulation or not because our reality is indistinguishable from a base reality. We don't believe there is anything that can rule this claim out, making it unfalsifiable. Thank you for hanging out with us today and remember the prompt of the week is: Create the next god!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-atheist-experience--3254896/support.

Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Introducing EA in Arabic, published by Abdurrahman Alshanqeeti on April 4, 2024 on The Effective Altruism Forum. I am thrilled to introduce EA in Arabic (الإحسان الفعال), a pioneering initiative aimed at bringing the principles of effective altruism to Arabic-speaking communities worldwide. Summary Spoken by more than 400 million people worldwide, Arabic plays a pivotal role in advancing impactful initiatives across the globe. Despite the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region's diverse socio-economic landscapes, instability leads to humanitarian crises. However, some Arab nations exert significant economic influence and invest in AI and other emerging technologies. Understanding the humanitarian significance of the region, along with its involvement in Global Catastrophic Risks (GCR), particularly concerning AI and technology, emphasizes the need for focused efforts. EA in Arabic aims to bridge linguistic, intellectual, and social barriers and engage with Arabic-speaking communities. Future plans involve promoting EA principles and community engagement, with Arabic speakers urged to contribute to spreading effective altruism. Arabic in the World Today Arabic, with over 400 million speakers globally, holds a significant position as one of the most widely spoken languages. Its influence spans across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and serves as the liturgical language of more than 1.9 billion Muslims who constitute around 25.2% of the world's population, making it a vital medium for promoting impactful initiatives. Note: While acknowledging the intersections between Arabic-speaking communities and Islam[1], it's essential to clarify that EA in Arabic focuses solely on the linguistic and cultural aspects from an impartial perspective. If you're curious about approaching EA from a religious perspective, you may want to explore other initiatives like Muslims for EA and the Muslim Network for Positive Impact. The MENA Region The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region holds a unique status, embodying a cluster of countries with significantly varied socioeconomic positions. Ranging from nations ranked among the globe's most impoverished to those at the forefront of economic and technological progress, it embodies a diverse array of socio-economic realities. Details Now, let's swiftly explore some specific details regarding this multifaceted region. Below is a compilation of several Arab nations ranked among the most impoverished globally: Country GDP per Capita (USD$)[2] Most Recent Year Syria 421 2021 Somalia 592 2022 Yemen 650 2022 South Sudan 1,072 2015 Sudan 1,102 2022 Moreover, unfortunately, due to significant instability in the region, many countries have outdated data. For instance, Sudan, which experienced an internal destructive conflict between two military factions in 2023. According to a UNHCR report, approximately half of Sudan's population, roughly 25 million people, require humanitarian assistance and protection. Nearly 18 million individuals are confronting acute food insecurity, and 8 million people have been displaced. Similar data deficiencies plague countries like Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Palestine (including Gaza Strip and the West Bank), Mauritania, Iraq, and Libya. Each of these nations grapples with profound humanitarian crises. This offers a strong reason to prioritize attention on this region in the advancement of Global Health and Wellbeing. Conversely, there are several countries ranked among the wealthiest globally. Here is a list of some Arab nations with thriving economies as of 2022: Country GDP per Capita (USD$) Qatar 87,662 UAE 53,708 Kuwait 41,080 Saudi Arabia 30,448 Bahrain 30,147 These nations wield significant economic influence globally, particularly in terms of production and pricing of oil and gas. Furthermore,...
