Keeping It Nerd rocked the house during Silicon Valley Comic Con at Caffe Frascati on April 7, 2018. Our heroes, Vince (@vmostajo09), with help from Anthony (@murseant), hosted the all-star panel this past weekend in a little cafe down the street from the San Jose Convention Center. Our panelists included artist and actress Lauren Garcia (@lasandrei), filmmaker and podcaster Ray Hom (@rayhomdotcom), comic artist Glen Canlas (@glencanlas), and personal trainer and cosplayer Saul Cervantes (@spideyfit). They each brought their awesome energy and their intelligent insights on all things pop culture and geek related. They all go into depth about what they like in the pop and geek culture, why we will always see the 80s style in modern times, and what superpowers each of the panelists have. We were also treated to a dramatic reading of everyone’s least favorite Marvel Netflix series, ‘Iron Fist.’ Special Thanks: – Roger and Caroline from Caffe Frascati. Go check them out at 315 S. 1st St., San Jose, CA. – Each of the panelists! Lauren, Ray, Glen, and Saul. – Edwin Fabian aka Marty McFLY **buzz buzz** for the promo – Alec Rivera for taking the pictures – As always, Evan King (http://evanking.bandcamp.com) for “Alpha Channels”, the official theme of ‘Keeping It Nerd’ heard on this and almost every episode of this very fine podcast. The heroic trinity finally rides again! On this edition, our heroes Vince (Twitter: @vinsanity09 / IG: @vmostajo09) and Anthony (@murseant almost anywhere) are joined by ‘Special Contributor’ Jeremiah Dempsey (@xjdempseyx on the Instagrams). Finally finding a remote podcasting solution (thanks to zoom.us), the trio get into a topic near and dear to most kids over the last 70 years–Toys “R” Us. More specifically, the closing down of one of the biggest toy stores in the world and how it got there. This episode takes a strange left turn in the beginning, but they quickly get back on track as they pay respect to Charles Lazarus, get into the fondest childhood memories and experiences, and what was up with that ‘Haunted Lives’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_M8E3VAtquY) segment about the Sunnyvale, CA Toys “R” Us? (Yeah the heroes say it’s from ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ but we fact check our ish here.) APRIL 7th is almost here. Join “Keeping It Nerd” for their very first LIVE show on April 7, 2018 at Caffe Frascati, 315 South 1st St., San Jose, CA (literally about a block and a half from the San Jose Convention Center) during #SiliconValleyComicCon. There will be a panel, it will be fun, there’ll be giveaways, you can’t miss it. Special Thanks: – Tha J-Squad for the “Toys ‘R’ Us Jingle Remix” – Mulle (https://soundcloud.com/mulleofficial) for his song, “Letting Go” – Reyna (@reynax81) for the promos – Evan King (https://evanking.bandcamp.com) for “Alpha Channels”, the official theme of ‘Keeping It Nerd’ heard on this and almost every episode of this very fine podcast. Happy PI Day 2018!!! This week, our heroes, Vince (@vinsanity09) and Anthony (@murseant) take some time to get to know a few out of this world monsters and multidimensional peeps. ‘Alien Toilet Monsters’ Issue #01 by Carol Zara and Eric Barnett hit shelves last fall, and Vince orchestrated a magnificent “get” as he was able to have Omnimorphic send us a copy for us to review. The art and the story pacing were enough to get us invested for the coming issues, but they dive into the introduction of the world that Zara and Barnett had built. They also talk discuss the ‘Fantastic Beasts 2’ trailer, the SNL Black Panther sketch, and Nicholas Cage finally becoming Superman among other things. Also big announcement: KEEPING IT NERD LIVE EVENT April 7, 2018 at Caffe Frascati in San Jose Interested in joining us? They also talk about how Disney moved 'Infinity War' up one week (thanks to Robert Downey, Jr. ... https://instagram.com/p/Bf3piomjo6Q/), best picture nominees, and what the plans are for SVCC (see notes on the bottom). Because we like to follow them. Because they are not quite the heroes that podcasting deserves, but not definitely it needs right now, so we'll kind of check-in with them. Because they are entertaining, they can take it. They are our very loud guardians, a sort of watchful protectors, they are Keeping It Nerd. They discuss memories of watching it for the first time, Vince talks about meeting Bruce Timm, Anthony shows his love for Paul Dini, and they both breakdown their favorite episodes of the show, which include "Almost Got Im" and "Heart of Ice." It’s time to rejoin our heroes, this time in Westeros. Anthony (@murseant) and Vince (@vmostajo09) are joined by Reyna (@reynax81) on this journey through the great, but short seventh season of everyone’s favorite show, ‘Game of Thrones’. They break down what they loved, what they didn’t like, and speculate on things to come (like Jon Snow and Daenerys…wait?…oh yeah, this joke is allowed). Special thanks to Reyna for lending her thoughts on GoT and for her work on the promos, Muciojad (https://soundcloud.com/muciojad) for his song, “Parsimonius Love,” and as always, to Evan King (evanking.bandcamp.com) for “Alpha Channels”, the official theme song to Keeping It Nerd. Some more socials to hit up: @bishop.the.nerdsky & @rogue.the.nerdsky both on Instagram and both are very good looking huskies. Please rate, comment, and subscribe on Apple Podcasts. Also, find us on Google Play Music, and we’re STILL very excited about this: find us on STITCHER RADIO!!! (WHAT WHAT!!) Keep it real, Keep it NERD!!

Double digit delightfulness as our heroes, Vince (@vinsanity09) and Anthony (@murseant) discuss Vince’s experiences from San Diego Comic Con 2017. Vince hates lines, was caught off guard by Legos, and lamented over the fact that merch is unfairly distributed. But it’s not all bad peeps, Vince goes into detail about getting to meet David Tennant and dining with the Stranger Things kids. Where was Anthony during all of this? Back home in the Bay, jealousy brewing over people getting to go to SDCC. To his credit though, he just got back from a near month-long vacation (don’t feel bad). Special thanks to Reyna (@reynax81) and Ray Hom from mind.erase.media or MEMCast in providing our promos for this episode. Another thanks goes to DJ Quads (https://soundcloud.com/aka-dj-quads) for letting us use his song, “Always”, Steven O’Brien for his song “Epic Music No. 2”, and as always, a huge thank you for his awesome song, Evan King (evanking.bandcamp.com) with “Alpha Channels” heard on this episode and on every episode of Keeping It Nerd. Please rate, comment, and subscribe on Apple Podcasts. Also, find us on Google Play Music, and we’re excited about this: find us on STITCHER RADIO!!! (WHAT WHAT!!) Keep it real, Keep it NERD!!

Special thanks to Reyna (@reynax81) and Ray Hom from mind.erase.media or MEMCast in providing our promos for this episode. Another thanks goes to DJ Quads (https://soundcloud.com/aka-dj-quads) for letting us use his song, "Always", Steven O'Brien for his song "Epic Music No. 2", and as always, a huge thank you for his awesome song, Evan King (evanking.bandcamp.com) with "Alpha Channels" heard on this episode and on every episode of Keeping It Nerd. Part 1 - This is the introduction to dealing with using Alpha Channels in Autodesk Smoke. This video gives an overview on about the alpha channel in an image with detailed explanations.
This movie shows you how to import media with embedded alphas into Smoke with the MediaHub
Much can be said of masking: Masking is the art of using the image to select itself. Masking lets you apply the entire weight of Photoshop to the task of editing a selection. And masking, thy name is alpha channel.
