Tonight on Trackside, Kevin Lee and Curt Cavin begin with Arrow McLaren SP confirming Tony Kanaan for the 2023 Indianapolis 500 and the position he is in to try and capture another 500 victory in a car capable of winning the race. Kevin and Curt also discuss NTT Data's partnership with AMSP next season. Then, the conversation turns to NASCAR drivers in May's race and why Arrow McLaren SP went with Kanaan over a driver from a different series. To round out the first segment, Kevin and Curt touch on Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing confirming they intend on running a fourth car in the Indy 500. That leads to a discussion about who is most likely to fill that seat. Kevin and Curt dissect open seats left for May and what looks like the only place that either NASCAR Kyle could go in order to run in the 500. Will Ed Carpenter put another car in the race or focus on the drivers already on his roster, including himself? The conversation expands into a larger one about total cars in the 500, teams, engines and drivers. In the second hour, Kevin and Curt begin with discussing Ross Chastain's gutsy move at the end of the NASCAR race in Martinsville and Tony Stewart's NHRA debut. Then, they discuss Roger Penske investigating more ovals on the IndyCar schedule and the locations the series is considering. Before FOX NASCAR's Jamie Little joins the show, Kevin and Curt reminisce about the beginning of Trackside. Then, Kevin and Jamie talk about the Martinsville Cup race and the upcoming championship weekend. Kevin then wraps up the show with Twitter questions.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Felix Rosenqvist has been winning races and championships in a wide variety of cars throughout his career including being a winner and multiple pole-winner in the NTT IndyCar Series. Fresh off of his first oval pole position at Texas Motor Speedway for his Arrow McLaren SP racing team (AMSP), he spent some time with me before the 2022 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach (where he qualified fourth and finished in 11th after some tire degradation issues and getting hit by Alex Rossi). In the interview, he gets into the details of using a simulator and how that helps prepare him for going fast right away on the race track. Enjoy! NOTE: Rosenqvist loomed large in the silly season rumors as he was re-signed to a contract extension with Arrow McLaren SP. AMSP also signed Rossi for 2023 and perhaps Alex Palou. Where does that leave Rosenqvist? Possibly, staying where he's at, moving to the team's Formula E program or??? By Larry Mason Copyright © 2022 Larry Mason

Phil and Josh return to discuss IndyCar, F1 and many other series on E125 (or 124.5, depending on who you ask) of the GSP.  The guys discuss the news of NASCAR Cup and an IMSA series racing on the streets of Chicago and what it means for NASCAR in general.  After that, Phil and Josh cover Alex Palou being employed by two teams in IndyCar - Chip Ganassi Racing and McLaren Racing.  What does this mean for AMSP, CGR and the possibility of it leading to an F1 ride?  Who would replace Palou at Ganassi?  Speaking of Ganassi, his greatest driver ever is Scott Dixon and "The Iceman" added to his legacy by tying Mario Andretti with 52 wins after his triumph at Toronto.  The guys go over Dixon's performance that brings him back into the title picture while pole-sitter Colton Herta dealt with balaclava issues but still finished second.  Marcus Ericsson and fellow countryman Felix Rosenqvist had solid weekends on the streets of Toronto.  Graham Rahal had his best run of 2022 as RLL Racing leads into a big weekend at Iowa Speedway. In the GSP Roundup, Phil goes over SRX at I-55 Speedway where Tony Stewart won another race on dirt and leads into the season finale at Sharon Speedway, WSBK at Donington, IMSA GT at Lime Rock, NHRA at Denver, Formula E in Brooklyn, and previews of F2 & W Series at Paul Ricard.  Phil and Josh preview the French Grand Prix F1 race along with the doubleheader at Iowa Speedway for IndyCar before Josh's Sim Segment and Show close.

Was Oliver's contract a multi-year and he is being fired, or are they choosing to not resign him? Externally it is looking like Arrow or AMSP has some thin skin. Two drivers fired in two years for things they didn't like. The whole thing seems like a mess." "Do you believe that there will be a third OEM in IndyCar for the 2023 season when the new engine/chassis specs hit the track?" "MP, the announcement of Indy Lights returning next year was huge sigh of relief, and I really like the aspect of the top 3 championship finishers testing in IndyCar at the end of the year. This concept is definitely cool, but with the series current climate of more drivers than available seats, I don't see a test doing much good moving many drivers up the ladder."
